Dark Age 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 So what is this DVD exactly? Are we looking at something like they Rey DVD, with a confidential cover story and some matches as extras, or a much more 'smark friendly dvd' with tons of matches spread across a couple of discs? And its out in July? Wow. I really didnt know that. Better get ready to empty my pockets.
Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 I'd say Smark friendly like the Foley/Flair/Micheals DVDs. It would be great if they had the whole best of seven series with booker T on there. They might do that as Booker is also on the roster and could inadvertantly promote him also
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Overrated and unnecesary are the "Best of Seven" series. Come on...you knew it was going to 7...kinda redundant with a PPV looming. Good matches, yes, but there's SO MUCH BETTER that couldn't fit onto 7 DVDs that Benoit has done.

I just hope they got stuff on there I haven't seen. Maybe some rare houseshow stuff.
BHK 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 If they were going to do it at all, they'd rpobably jsut stick one of the matches from the best of 7 on the DVD. However, as has been said, Benoit has done much better work that could easily go in its place.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 House show stuff is good. But unlikely. Hopefully they dont pile this up with PPV match after PPV match. I would much rather get a bunch of Raw and SD! matches (for the WWE part, of course). If possible, I would like to see them un-edited as well. Anyone remember any of the better Benoit tv matches of 2000?

I would much rather get a bunch of Raw and SD! matches (for the WWE part, of course). If possible, I would like to see them un-edited as well. Anyone remember any of the better Benoit tv matches of 2000? You asked. I shall deliver. Well, at least somewhat. I could only watch higlights of Smackdown in 2000 so this is mostly Raw stuff that I remember. I know there's other good stuff out there too. I can't promise this is 100% accurate The problem was in 2000 no matches were allowed to go over 11 minutes and that was just for main events. It wasn't until the famous Benoit/Jericho vs HHH/Austin match in 2001 that someone broke the 11 min mark. After that it was a lot more common. Benoit/Big SHow vs Rock/Kane from Raw -- Benoit puts on a terrific show here Benoit vs HHH Smackdown Feb 1 Chris Benoit/Triple H/Perry Saturn/Dean Malenko/X-Pac vs Cactus Jack/The Rock/Rikishi/Scott Taylor/Brian Christopher Feb 7 Raw -- The match with the insane heat Benoit vs Rikishi Feb 10 -- Good match. Benoit and Rikishi work well together. Benoit looks very impressive throwing the big guy around. Benoit vs Rock Feb 14 Raw Their first of many encounters Benoit vs Rock Raw August 7 No DQ for the heavyweight title -- I think they were supposed to have a PPV match but things got changed and it didn't happen. The best of their televised matches in 2000 the Rock destroys Benoit in the only german suplex I've ever seen him do. Benoit vs THe Rock Steel Cage March 6 -- A match that has a very shaky cage Benoit/Saturn vs Hardys March 16 Smackdown Benoit vs Jericho March 20 Raw Benoit vs Holly April 16 Heat -- Main event of the evening for the IC belt. Good match Benoit vs Jericho Smackdown May 4 for the IC belt -- This is the bloody match between the two and is their best non PPV televised match Benoit vs Jericho Raw May 8 for the IC belt Benoit vs The Rock May 15 Raw Submission match -- After this match the Rock starts using submission moves most notably the sharpshooter Benoit vs Val Venis May 22 Raw -- Nice stuff here between the two Benoit vs Holly May 29 Raw -- Not too long but notable for its intensity including a very stiff exchanging of fisticuffs at the beginning. Benoit was face for the night and this match was hyped as a brutal encounter coming in Benoit vs Jeff Hardy June 8 Smackdown -- Looked good but I only saw the ending Benoit vs Holly vs Jericho vs Venis from Heat -- Good fourway match for the IC title June 11 Benoit vs Matt Hardy from Raw June 12 -- This was better than their fairly rescent Smackdown match. It was wrestled New Japan style except that they didn't have the normal mat wrestling buildup. THere's a tribute here to Benoit vs Sasuke which looks like it's going to be on the DVD as well as perhaps Benoit vs Kanemoto. I know at least one of the Hardy Boys is a Sasuke fan Benoit vs Rikishi June 22 Smackdown for the IC title -- Looked good but I only saw the ending Benoit vs Eddie Guerrero July 3 Raw -- Pretty short but sweet as anything. The only Benoit vs Eddie match where Benoit wrestles as a heel and Eddie the face while they were in the WWF/WWE Benoit vs The Rock July 10 Raw -- Intense. I remember somebody throwing something at Benoit. Benoit vs Rock September 25 Raw Benoit vs Jericho Oct 5 Smackdown -- I believe this is the very short but intense match that ends quickly. Very fun while it lasted. Benoit vs Rock Nov 16 Smackdown Actually, this might be their best televised match. Rock has "injured" ribs here. Benoit vs Austin from Raw Nov 20 -- Told a nice story in a short time period. Benoit vs Jeff Hardy Dec 18 Raw -- Cool finish to this one which I kind of predicted Benoit vs Matt Hardy Dec 28 Smackdown -- Not as good as their Raw match but still a nice bout. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Even though he lost, I hope they put the Benoit / Lesnar match. I still haven't been able to find a good copy of it, but I fucking loved that match.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Even though he lost, I hope they put the Benoit / Lesnar match. I still haven't been able to find a good copy of it, but I fucking loved that match. That was an awesome match and it was wrestled to create an even better match later on as it was designed to be built upon. Benoit vs Lesnar would probably be the best combination possable for a match in the WWE today if it happened. I'd like to see some Stampede stuff on the DVD set but I'm 99% sure they don't own the rights to it. Still, I imagine they could work something out. Something from each country Benoit wrestled in would really be nice as that would fit in well with the story of the DVD. Benoit vs Eddie where Benoit debuts on Nitro and their Nov 95 WCWSN match which is off the charts fantastic should definitely be on the DVD set.
Guest TigerDriver91 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Any chance we might see footage of Benoit wrestling in Mexico? Maybe the match where he lost his mask?
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Bret Hart vs Chris Benoit - Owen Hart Tribute match from Nitro They have the full uncut match to use, and they had better use it whether it be for the Benoit set or a Bret Hart set.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 16, 2004 They do own some rights to it... And Don't the Harts still own it neways? i seriously doubt Stampede will NOT allow benoit footage to be used.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Any chance we might see footage of Benoit wrestling in Mexico? Maybe the match where he lost his mask? They might be able to show the Benoit/Scorpio/Santana vs La Parka/Blue Panther/Estrada match from the When Worlds Collide PPV. It's a nice match to show off Benoit's skills (and Blue Panther) and then there's La Parka fighting with his own team mate which makes the match worth watching all by itself. Plus there's English commentary for this. I've seen the Benoit vs Villano III mask vs mask match where Benoit loses the mask. It's not as good as their other bouts against each other but I still enjoyed it especially the 2nd time around when I got a better grip of what was going on. It's historic because Benoit loses the mask (for the 2nd time actually) but I'd rather see one of the other matches against Villano III on because I think fans will eat those ones up more. Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I think we're getting overboard here...I strongly doubt we'll get many Puro matches or Mexican matches. I'm banking 8 WWE Matches...3 WCW...1 EcW and One International Match.

I'm banking 8 WWE Matches...3 WCW...1 EcW and One International Match. That sounds pretty accurate, although still being realistic, I'd want to see maybe 6 WWE matches, 4 WCW matches (they need the awesome match he had with Raven, I don't remember which PPV it's from for sure), 1 ECW (hopefully the Al Snow match instead of Benoit/Malenko vs. Taz/Sabu which I've seen a million times and isn't that great really), and 3 international matches (6/11/96 vs. Eddie, vs. Great Sasuke of course, and w/Ohtani vs. Sasuke and Eddie). Guest jm29195 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I'm banking 8 WWE Matches...3 WCW...1 EcW and One International Match. Well if it's anything to go by, the Rey Mysterio dvd was a one dvd package and had on it the confidential syle piece and 10 matches- 4 wwe, 5 wcw, and the AAA one. So hopefully the Benoit 2 disc set will have at least 20 matches on it, maybe more as there's no need for a confidential piece on each disc....

Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted May 17, 2004 The Booker T/Benoit matches weren't that good anyway, and are severly overated by everyone. I like the matches and all, it's just that Benoit has done tons of stuff thats way better than any of the Booker/Benoit matches.
