Slickster 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Are you also C-and-P'ing the Nitro/Thunder match results from The Wrestling Information Archive? Are you doing the same for Worldwide/Pro/Main/Event/Sat. Night (1997-2001) from DDTDigest? Just asking, as that would save a TON of time.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I don't copy n paste results, as I write them in my own basic format, with the 1. ____wrestler____ defeated (possible title) ____wrestler____ (possibly to win). And notes on special features (retirement, loss of something, etc.) underneath. Digest does have all the house shows/tapings I need, however. I HAVE found that several write-ups, most notably from Scott Keith's WCW PPV rants, some DDT Digest House Show reports, and some results from Steve's Wrestling.com (all great sources) are WRONG. That's why I don't want to simply Copy and Paste. I check some things that from memory, seem inaccurate or skewed.
Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I really think you should try it without the double spacing. I would bet it would be much easier to look at, but thats just me.
landy1987 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 i have several more WCW World Wide results but I don't know if you want me to post them or not because I don't know what date they were recorded or what town they are in. Does anyone have some PWI results which state the locations? I only knew the one I posted before because of the Six man Tag title change, and so I knew the location and when it was recorded. What I did was look fast forward through my two 8 hour tapes I have (so far) of World Wide and noted which episodes were recorded at teh same locations, but what seems strange is that they are in a new arena nearly every week, and only sometimes is there two episodes recorded at one taping

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2004 I don't intend the double spacing. I agree. It puts them in for whatever reason. I'll try to correct and get the format even more viewer-friendly over the weekend while I work on the site. EDIT: Go here, to 2001's result I put up so far... http://p2.hostingprod.com/@thehistoryofwcw.com/WCW2001.html Tell me if that is visually pleasing. I'll be changing the font color of the individual show names or house show cities soon. It should be a larger PPV/TV Show/Clash/City name...then the Date and City (if applicable) at a smaller font, then each match, numbered. Lotsa stuff I have to add this weekend, hope ya like. -Eddie
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2004 It's visually pleasing. My only bit of advice would be to add as much as you can to the results - more than just the simple "this guy beat that guy". The more detail you add, the more you distinguish your site from all the others that copy / paste the most basic of PPV, Clash, and TV results. Why would someone want to go to a new site for the same info they can find at a website they've been going to for years? ... Just my 2 cents. But it looks good so far.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2004 Eek. I purposely deleted the managers, finishes, etc. for simplicity. I think I'm gonna go year from year and add EVERYTHING. I'm working on 2001 and 1998 now...specifically, every single show. Thanks for the advice. -Eddie
JHawk 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2004 Cawthon's right about "the more detail the better". Do you realize how many times Ricky Steamboat and Steve Austin wrestled each other on TV alone between 1992 and 1994? If I'm trying to figure out a date for a match I have on tape between them and I see 25 results that simply say "Ricky Steamboat defeated Steve Austin" with nothing else to it, I'd go absolutely insane. Just my two cents.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2004 Another free resource to take advantage of - RSPW. A great newsgroup with postings dating back to 1990. It's been an invaluable tool for myself and I think if you play around with the search engine enough, you'll be able to add a TON of info to the website. Here's a search to start you off ... just by typing in WCW House Show results, you get over 50 pages of replies. I also saw some old Saturday Night taping result postings in the same search... UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 Probably Nash, then. Peculiar result from 10/92...on 10/02 Steamboat's got the TV strap. On 10/03 Scott Steiner has it. Know there was a title change on TV where Steiner (heelishly) rolled up a groin-injured Steamboat from behind to win the belt (WCW's "peace-offering" to try to get Scott & Rick to stay...). WCW just advertising a champ before it happened on TV?
JHawk 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 Just a thought that may or may not get shut down. While we have said that we'd like to see this site follow the NWA and WCW, it becomes confusing with the JCP to Turner switchover, especially once we hit late-1990 and early-1991 when Flair's both NWA and WCW champion but never acknowledged by WCW as such. Would it be better to keep the WCW history focused on the timeframe between Turner purchasing JCP in November 1988 through the sale to Vince McMahon in 2001 (and through that year's Survivor Series) and starting a separate NWA site (which I would consider working on, possibly with help). That NWA site could focus on all the territories lumped under the NWA banner as well as the NWA after 1993 (which tends to get ignored).

I don't see the Steamboat 10/02 show but since the title change took place on September 29, it wouldn't be unheard of to have Steiner defending on 10/3. I doubt it was advertised as a title match beforehand.

Personally, I would list 1991 as the first WCW year with 1990 being the last for JCP. Admittedly, it does get a little vague and even PWI lists results under the NWA name through the first few months of 91. It's a judgment call. If you really want to start work on a "mother site" of all the NWA territories - you have my blessing and admiration. A lot of info is already on the net but compiling it would take quite a while. JHawk 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Trust me, it would be at least a month or two before I got the barebones of it up, but I think I could have at least some sort of prototype up by around July 1 if I got started on it right away. I've got the next two days off work, so I'll start by using what info's already on my hard drive and go from there.

Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 Just stumbled upon an old Pro Wrestling Observer. July 30, 1997 - Saturday Night Taping in Gainesville, GA (2,300 sellout) Dave Taylor beat Joe Gomez Chris Jericho beat Psicosis with the Lion Tamer Alex Wright beat Chavo Guerero Jr. Harlem Heat beat High Voltage Curt Hennig beat Bobby Eaton. DDP ran out afterwards and was held back by security. Chris Benoit & Steve McMichael beat Los Villanos Dallas Page beat Vincent. Hennig then attacked him. Syxx beat Billy Kidman with a Buzzkiller. Flair then attacked him. Alex Wright beat Scotty Riggs. Konnan beat Psicosis with the Tequila Sunrise. La Parka chased Konnan away with a chair. Dean Malenko beat Lenny Lane with the Texas Cloverleaf. DARK MATCH (generator blew): Dallas Page pinned Curt Hennig with a fisherman's suplex. DARK MATCH (same): The Steiners fought The Faces of Fear to a double countout. Scheduled, but did not occur: Lenny Lane vs. Stevie Richards in a WCW Main Event taping, and Wrath & Mortis vs. Flair & Hennig. Both canceled due to the generator problems. Also, the August 4th Nitro had Prince Iaukea pin Brad Armstrong in a Dark Match.
