Being Fat in America

Recommended Posts

Guest croweater

Jesus Wouldn't.

As far as the topic goes. There's nothing more irritating about fat people complaining about being fat.

If you don't want to be fat lose some weight.

If you don't want people to judge you, lose some weight (I am talking about FAT people, not chubby people. You will be percieved as lazy and unhealthy because THAT'S HOW YOU BECOME FAT.)

If you don't think people should judge you and think "personality is all that counts" then WHY THE HELL ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT BEING FAT IF IT DOESN'T MATTER TO YOU?!?!?! You're just as vein as they are, if not more so as you are a big fat hypocrite.

I'm considered fat by standards, but I'm fine with where I'm athletically. I don't want to bear down enough to diet. I can bench four-hundred pounds, squat seven-hundred, run a half marathon, hit the splits, and ride from Seattle to Portland in a day. Fat is just generally relative; if your healthy and mobile, if your cholestrol and blood pressure levels are fine, what do you have to worry about? What someone else thinks of you? That's called shallow.

Are you samoan?

Infra thread: Who's the champion of weight loss in here? I've dropped damn near 100. Dids is a big feller, he's probably had a lot to lose, too..Damaramu?

A lot of girls put time and effort into their looks.

Why should you be exempt from that?

I used to be 196 pounds and 5'11" and unable to get anyone.

Now I'm 150 and 5'11" still, but now it's mysteriously easy to get girls.

ewwww...Go eat.

Ummmm, I'm not skinny at all though. I'm still pretty built so I have no idea how that works.

Dude, you are 5'11 and weigh almost 15 lbs less than me. And I am freaking skinny...and 5 inches shorter.

You are ridiculously skinny or you have no skeleton.

Yeah, you must be carrying your weight really well because I'm still a bit chubby round my sides and am only 150. Different body types maybe?

You deserve all the bullshit. There's absolutely no excuse to be a lardass in this day and age, because I used to be one.

That's bullshit. Lots of folks out there have legitimate thyroid problems and gain weight regardless of exercise and diet.

Rarely, though. It's possible to look at someone and go "That guy eats too much," or "That guy has some kinda condition..." and a lot of the former blame it on the latter.

I lost 65 lbs. in nine months.  It took diabetes to do it, but it happened.  At 22, I weigh less now than I did when I was 15.

That's a pretty big drop. I was a fat kid, too. Took up boxing (but mainly just for the training) at 17, and lost 30 pounds that winter. After that, the shit just keeps falling off. I'm at the point now where I'm trying to maintain weight and build more defined muscles. I feel like a million bucks, comparitively.

Oooh, love myself, betta than I love myself.

Nah....I've only lost about 30 pounds. But I was never that fat to begin with....just big. It all resides in my gut......hell like I said I don't have rolls at all or man boobs. It's all the gut.

I'm 6'4" and weigh about 250 and used to weigh about 280. I have a HUGE frame though. Because of the size of my frame I don't think I'd ever be considered skinny even if I had a 6-pack.....because I just look big all over. Well I might be considered skinny......but not small. People would be like "Look at that god damned monster over there......boy I tell you what......that's a big motherfucker." Actually people already say that.....that's what makes Rugby so fun.

Oh and yeah people should take the way you look into if they want to date you or not. I'm not disputing that. But there are people out there that think b/c someone is fat they must automatically be stupid and a bad person. Then they give that person no end to grief and basically make them feel so bad about themselves they go into depression and get fatter. But those people are assholes anyways.

Crank: The real stacker 2.

Dama, I've seen pictures, I'm aware that you're an ogre. You're even bigger than I am, and I'm an big dude. I thought you'd mentioned weight loss at some point on here, so I ventured a guess.

All my extra poundage was pretty evenly distributed, really. Emphasis on the gut, back then. I'm pretty flat now. Some extra weight on my thighs and my sides still, but those are the last places to trim up with anyone, it seems.

Oh and how did I lose this 30 pounds? Getting off my ass and running around the block a couple of times.

Yeah I'm still not in great shape and still get winded when jogging to much but I can make it around the block a couple of times without having to stop and walk. Used to I would probably jog halfway down my driveway and gasp for air.

It's all Rugby. Gotta be in shape to do it and all I do is run at practice and run on the field. If you want to lose weight and feel good at the same time......just play sports. Hell get your friends together a couple of times a week to play basketball.

Exercise doesn't have to be you in the gym staring at the wall while you use a stair stepper.

Brian, those numbers you can do with the weights is pretty frickin amazing man. You could come in handy as my spotter if we ever went to go work out.

;)

How tall/big are you if you don't mind me asking?

Currently I'm treading around 330 but I'd like to drop about 15 or 20 more pounds for health reasons (I'm getting older and don't need any more excess weight). The heaviest I ever weighed was 380 and that was at my peak when I was training for the World's Strongest Man comptetition the last couple of years (along with a possible try-out for the AFL team the LA Avengers).

When I was in middle school, I was out of shape and considered "fat" by many of my peers. I had back problems and exerted more energy than I should have by just walking around campus to classes. I got to high school and became interested in football, baseball and discus throwing, which helped me tone up and gain muscle in considerable amounts during my time at the school. That was when I became heavy into working out on my own time (along with the sports) and it became like a natural function for me to go and work out (something I still maintain to this day).

If I can borrow a cliche, no pain, no gain.

A number of my buddies who played on the line with me in football lost a copious amount of weight after the senior season ended and they worked out hard to get a "healthy weight" as some of the dudes skimmed down from 100 pounds and more in some cases. They generally seemed more comfortable and sure of themselves (a couple of them even managed to get a couple good looking girlfriends as well).

Running and cardio should be a fat kid's best friends if they want to improve the way they look and feel.

This is a load of bollocks. If you were on here complaining that you're dying of cancer or you just got raped by a biker gang then i could totally understand, because its something beyond your control. Its 100% possible for you change this situation, so shut the fuck up. Innit.
