My one problem with Eugene

Man, of all the things to whine about.

Rick Steiner did similar things for years, like wearing the title belt upside down and backwards. It's part of their gimmicks. Get over it, or stick to Smackdown. ;p

I honestly didn't even notice....wow what a minor nitpick. The name tag was dumb, but it's not around anymore except the titan tron.

I always assumed it was a Strike Force like wind-breaker.

I love those 80s-style wrestling jackets. I just assumed he embroidered his name on the back wrong.

I'm surprised AS doesn't hate Eugene because of that unkept frizzy hair and beard. Some PROFESSIONAL wrestler he claims to be. How can he have ANY sense of pride?

I really thought that jacket was white.

I understand the Benoit wearing tights everytime he goes out to the ring because he breathes and sleeps wrestling method, but he shouldn't wear the same tights for like 5 weeks straight like he did earlier this year.

It's part of Eugene. If he started wearing it the right way, it'd look weird because of who he is now.

I think they need more offbeat references to 80s WWF like last night's Tito Santana. Maybe one time, Regal goes to Eugene's dressing room and he's rockin' out to old theme songs. Best choices: Beverly Brothers, Strike Force, or Demolition. Honorable mention: Slick (Jive Soul Bro)

Anglesault needs a column where he complains about the stupidest pickiest details about the entire fucking roster.

Test GELS his hair! WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT!

So the thing holding you back from properly enjoying a new character that WWE finally gets right and also happens to be proficient in the ring is an inside out jacket??? Mate, generally I agree with most of what you say, but in this instance you really need stop totally overanaylsing every minutiae and let yourself enjoy something.

I do enjoy it very much. I just think jokes like the jacket have a short shelf life.

You're not meant to fall off the couch laughing every time Eugene comes out because his jacket is inside out. It's just, as has been said, a character quirk. Also, remember that there are people who don't watch every week. Each week there are going to be people who don't know who Eugene is, so his jacket does have relevance to people that may not understand the character yet.

AS hates him, and he's wrong 85% of the time, so it's a lock that Eugene will be huge.

Anglesault is the kind of bitter smark fuck that makes Vinnie Mac so leery of the internet.

Have some sense of perspective.

A thread never should have been started for this. That said, there are too many replies at this point to close it. Everyone, please don't flame Anglesault, but also, in the future, don't just start topics for the sake of it. Thanks.

Nope. You were wrong about Orton who's become an ME player. You were wrong about Batista who's become a solid big man. You were wrong when you predicted Benoit wouldn't win at mania. Hell, going back before that you were constantly wrong about Brock Lesnar (who you wanted tos ee go back to OVW) and about all the times you claimed Kurt's career was "over" (such as losing a HOUSE SHOW match to Val Venis IN CANADA). Hell, even HHH has become a worthwhile player again.

Oh and the Yankees, who've turned around.

So... when have you been right?

Good point. I've seen more than a few Eugene topics floating around that this could've been put into. It's funny because everyone shat on that noob [whose username I cannot recall] for the same thing last week.

How is it a joke? I've never even heard anyone on the show draw attention to it. It's a part of his gimmick. It's not like JR & Lawler are constanty pointing it out.

You're wierd. :P

Can't we just presume that Eugene dresses himself for the match, and the satin side feels better against his skin? He doesn't know enough to know that it's wrong, and doesn't care enough when people point it out to him. So, he dresses so it's comfortable regardless of it being 'funny' or not.

Asking people to 'presume' things or 'use their imagination' is apparently too much to ask in this day & age. It's the same thing as when people whine about the cameraman being conveniently present.

So... when have you been right?

Nailed the Angle/Brock feud from the second they started it.

Basically, every single horrible thing I said ended up coming true. That was over a course of almost eleven months.

I actually called the entire Angle/Cena feud in JULY.

I was able to rattle off the first three months of Brock's last title reign before he won it.

I called Booker/HHH (okay, that was an obvious one)

Saw a sign a few months back saying "Bring Back Strike Force" (this post is in reference to the "theme music" one above, which i forgot to quote and make this relevant). That struck me as a really, REALLY random sign to make.

While this is admittedly a small detail, on a show like this, it's damn important to explain what the hell is going on to the audience rather than leave it up to the audience to guess whatever the hell they want.

Like when they refused to tell us who attacked Angle last February or Lesnar in July and just left it up to the audience to guess that they fooled highly trained medical technicians.

Does anyone else think that this Eugene character is a piss take on net fans? He knows the moves, the info..but is socially and otherwise retarded...I think it's an inside joke by the writers..especially as Eugene's favorite wrestler is HHH.

Eugene's jacket is a joke for sharp-eyed people, the kind who figured out why Chyna was called the 9th Wonder of the World when there were only 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.

It's not a big running gag; King's not laughing about it every week. In fact, I don't think it's ever been mentioned on TV.

And it's not like your examples because nobody spends 5min on Heat or BottomLine asking "WHY IS EUGENE'S JACKET INSIDE OUT? Tune into RAW to find out!"

Posted

I thought that Chyna was the 9th Wonder of the World because Andre had been labeled as the 8th? (pretty good continuity for the fed, if you ask me).

And, AS, how can you compare a guy's jacket being inside-out to major plot holes? Mountain out of a molehill.
