Johnson tosses perfect game...

This is funny, because he had just been complaining about how he was lacking help.

So what does he do?

I found this amazingly funny as well, as basically he made it show that really he would carry the team if need be.

He was up to about 120 pitches when the game ended and still looked pretty damn strong.

Damn it.

I played video games instead of watched it on the package.

If you were playing MVP, then everything is forgiven. If not, then you should be burned at the stake.

Honestly though, impressive effort by Randy Johnson and he definitely looks great once again.

And of course, the Bottom Line ruined it for me JUST as Sportscenter was coming on. Note to ESPN: the Bottom Line kills all of your attempts at suspense.

I'll have to keep an eye out to see if ESPN makes it an instant classic and reruns it later this week on ESPN Classic.

I'd say that it's a safe bet...

Butchered to all shit.

I would think all you'd see is the Brave's half innings, but you might not even get all of that.

I fell asleep earlier tonight, thus I also missed the game

Thankfully I have a subscription to MLBTV and can rewatch the game in its entirity later

Thankfully the game was against the Braves so I watched it on TBS. ESPN didn't even leave the 3rd quarter of the NBA game too show the last 3 outs.

I didn't even know Johnson had a no-hitter earlier in his career

That puts him on the fairly small list of pitchers who've pitched two no-hitters (23 now)

Now if he could get in a third, that would put him on a very exclusive list (only 5 pitchers have 3 or more no-hitters)

Fuck, I believe this is the first PERFECT GAME since David Cone did it.

Odd, the last 3 perfect games were pitched by men well into their 30's.

Cone's is still the most beautiful regular season perfect game.

Yes, Randy Johnson's a spry thirty-ten.

It's weird, I was watching the Jays/Twins game and Batista had a no-no going into the 6th and I was thinking how cool it would be if he pitched a no-hitter. I didn't even know what was going on on TBS until I switched it back to the Jays game during a commercial on 24 and saw an update with 2 outs left.

I'm glad I taped it :D First Inter-league Perfect Game, and 2nd Perfect Game between an AL/NL game. 1st was obviously the World Series one that Don Larson did I think. (I'm not sure on his name)

BTW, how old is Randy Johnson? I know he's been playing for at least 15 years, so he's gotta be pushing 40.

Even creepier. I woke up Sunday morning, rolled out of bed and the first thing that came into my mind?

"Better turn the game on, we're gonna see eighteen strikeouts today"

I'm surprised they didn't either move the game or cut in on ESPN2. I thought that was part of the purpose of having a secondary network.

Maybe they didn't want to jinx him, like how players don't talk to pitchers who are going perfect or picthing a no-hitter............oh wait, TV networks don't care about that type of thing.

And in an even smaller club of pitchers who have done it in both the American and National League(5 I believe)

So let's see

1 no-hitter

1 perfect game

5 CYAs

5 straight 300+K seasons

a 20K game

WS MVP

Only 233 wins, but inching ever so close to the 4K K mark

any pitching accomplishment he hasn't done now?

That's because Randy wasn't pitching against Bonds, you big silly.

And good for Johnson -- I don't follow baseball that closely, but it seemed that he had a few good outings that resulted in losses or no-decisions. I guess this is one way you can be sure of getting a win...

Someone should have tried to bunt his way on base. Hell, it was only a 2 run game. That guy gets on, maybe Randy gets shaken, and maybe the Braves could have generated some runs.

Screw that "can't bunt to break up a no-hitter/perfect game" bullshit. Your job is to win the game, not protect the other team's (or pitcher's) feelings.

So fucking help me if they cut from of the Eastern Conference Finals to show a fucking baseball pitcher go for a perfect game. I wouldn't be typing this now, I'd be in Bristol pissing on the ashes of the burnt studios of ESPN.

Maybe show it on ESPNews, or ESPNClassic ... but don't cut from live coverage of an actual playoff game to show it.

I caught the last 3 innings of this one, flipping over when the Braves were batting. There wasn't even a good play made, Johnson was just dominating.

And to clear things up a bit, ESPN could not switch over because the game was a FSN game. Plus, they mentioned it every ten seconds on the bottom line and if you have ESPN, you probably have TBS anyways.
