Banter 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2004 I plan on going up to Toronto in late August when the Jays play the Red Sox. Hopefully I can catch a couple games. I believe the Yanks are in town after Boston so maybe I can go up for the last Sox game and catch the first Yankees game. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone here has been to the Skydome. I don't know what section to get the tickets in. Also if anyone can recommend some attractions and restaurants to hit up I'd apprecite it. Thanks!

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 23, 2004 I'm doing something similar in September. I'm going down to Tampa to see the last game of a Blue Jay series and the first of a Red Sox series.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2004 OK, Toronto has a Citypass for about $46CDN ($35USD), and that will get you into the CN Tower, Art Gallery of Ontario, Royal Ontario Museum, Casa Loma, the Ontario Science Centre and the Toronto Zoo. Check it out and see if that suits you. And check out the Hockey Hall of Fame and the University of Toronto while you're at it. A TTC Day Pass runs around $9CDN and lets you use the subway and buses all day (or 2 adults and 4 children on Sunday). Restaurants. Around SkyDome there's lots of restaurants because it's so close to the theater district. Peel Pub is great for cheap eats and beer. Personally I like Filet of Sole and The Strip House - good food, and they generally have a $20-25 fixed price meal. At Yonge and Bloor (near the ROM), there's a restaurant called Spring Rolls that's pretty decent Asian fusion-ish food. It's south of The Brass Rail, which you can't miss seeing if you tried. That is, you don't have to go, but you'll definitely know where it is... Finally, check out Tourism Toronto, as they've got summer getaway packages... Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 If you want a great restauarant, The Old Spaghetti Factory is amazing. Just be their early if you want a table. Agreed. But if you are willing to drive a little ways, Frankie Tomatoe's in the north end is even better. It is up on Woodbine Ave near Markham. Best restaurant I've ever been to. The OSF is on Front Street near the O'Keefe Centre (or whatever it is called now, Hummingbird Centre I think). Never eat at the Dome itself. The vendors outside will have food that is much better and at a third the cost. As for the seats, it depends on what you are looking for. In terms of view, the best is the old Club seats on the 200 level behind homeplate. If you are looking for something close to the action, you want something along the bases in the 100 level, as low a row as you can get. I was in Row 7 along the first base side against Jays/Sox last week. Treble has a point except I wouldn't do it for either the Yanks or Sox. Those are the two biggest draws and usually the 100 level is pretty sold out for them.

Speaking of which, near OSF there's a restaurant called Hothouse Cafe which has a Sunday jazz brunch buffet, which is a bit on the pricey side, but the food is pretty good and there's a live band. Worth looking into, I think. Gotta agree about not eating at the Dome. By all means, buy your (standard overpriced ballpark) beer inside, but if you need a dog, you can't beat a grilled sausage from the street vendors outside the park. Oh, and a couple of important drink details for anyone coming up to Canada from the States - the iced tea is presweetened unless the waiter tells you otherwise, and don't assume that the refills are free... Red Baron 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 I thought the Jays are having nine dollar tickets this season, thats what a few friends told me. If its true, then I'm going for sure, cause they aren't worth over 15 bucks for a blue jays game (unless it is the Yankees, Red Sox, or Mariners, I'm happy)

If its true, then I'm going for sure, cause they aren't worth over 15 bucks for a blue jays game (unless it is the Yankees, Red Sox, or Mariners, I'm happy) I'm pretty sure that after the "service/convenience charge" and GST it'll be over $15. "Serivce" charges have gotten ridiculous...
