Best movie from 1994?

Recommended Posts

Guest The Rising Star

The competition is between Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Lion King and Forrest Gump. My favourite has to be Pulp Fiction of the mentioned.

Shawshank Redemption.

Pulp Fiction simply doesn't hold up anymore.

One of the great over rated movies of all time...

Forrest Gump is only good once...you can't really feel for Gump a second time around...The acting from Hanks is still good nontheless and Gary Sinse was great.

1994 also had...

Quiz Show

4 Weddings and Funeral

The Crow

a fantastic year.

Pulp Fiction is great, but Shawshank is superior and will likely be a movie people still talk about in 2030. Pulp Fiction will be one of those "forgotten gems" in 2030. There's many "forgotten gems" from the 70s and before.

Dumb & Dumber had me laughing for 1 1/2 hours, so that's a great movie!

I'd say it's a tie between The Flinstones and North

Shawshank

I have to toss a write-in vote for True Lies while I'm at it, though

Thank you!

Someone agrees with me about Pulp Fiction.

It's still a fun movie to watch every once in awhile, but it just doesn't have the zing it used to.

You know, if I really sat down and thought about it, I might just come to the conclusion that Léon is my favorite from that year. I'd also rank The Hudsucker Proxy and Swimming With Sharks very high on my list for that year.

Léon would be my pick.

Followed by Shawshank and Pulp.

I'm going to vote for two movies that I personally enjoyed, Clear And Present Danger(tho the book is better), I think Harrison Ford is Jack Ryan in the same way Kiefer is Bauer, Killing Zoe is also a great Tarantino film

I may end up sounding like an idiot, but could someone tell me what exactly was the point of Pulp Fiction? I get the sort of basic storyline, but it sort of tails off and well, the best explanation I've heard is "day in the life" and that is just weak, so if anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Pulp Fiction is a movie that shows the fate of two hitmen, a boxer, and a crime boss or whatever marcellus was.

It's really just Tarantino trying to create hip cool dialouge and show blood as frequently as possible.

That is the formula ALL Tarantino moves have and that's why I strongly disagree with the notion that he is a GREAT filmmaker...because he sticks to the same style and formula.

I'm not saying he is the only one who fits that pattern but i think a truly great director changes his style every once in a while.

Shawshank, Gump and Léon are my picks. Pulp Fiction is a movie that I can only watch every few years to still be entertained at around the same level.

Using the IMDB list, I'd go Natural Born Killers as the best, quickly followed by Shawshank Redemption and Clerks.

I'm still entertained by Pulp Fiction.

Then it would be followed up by Shawshank Redemption, Dumb and Dumber, and Forrest Gump.
