IllustriousOne 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2004 Played the violin since I was 5 (18 now), and I'm pretty damn good at it. I enjoy improv stuff more than classical though.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Hey, is there such a thing as a cheap violin? I've never attempted to price one, and know precisely dick about the instrument. I want one to make noise on for the time being.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted June 1, 2004 I played the violin for about a month in the 3rd grade. And packing to move house on Monday, I found my first (and only) violin sheet music book.

I'm not a graceful man. use it to your advantage and turn it into a painfully expressive, erratic sort of st vitus's dance.

IllustriousOne 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 ACtually, yeah, there IS a such thing as a cheap violin. If you've got like, a Pied Piper/Fox Music/Young Musicians in your town, you can probably find one. Other than that, check out sharmusic.com. There SHOULD be some cheap student instruments on there. -Josh
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted June 5, 2004 I'm glad that I actually decided to started playing the guitar a few years ago at a young age, because I have more time for experience. And what got The Rising Star banned?
Guest Pirelli Report post Posted June 8, 2004 He bad-mouthed USA, but didn't get a chance to elaborate on why. Also he said he hated the new Harry P-movie (is that a crime) and said Latvia were better than England and Spain in soccer.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 I used to play the Trombone and probably still could if I picked it up again and I also sing, but that's not an instrument unless you count vocal chords as one.

Garth 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 I do a pretty bad job of playing the guitar and bass.
Guest macheteofodin Report post Posted June 8, 2004 I just got a bass the other day. So now I'm a one man band.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 I play several instruments at a moderate to intermediate level, the only thing I'm really anything to speak of on is, well... turntables.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted June 8, 2004 Are turntables your favorite, also? I don't know how to actually play the thing properly, but I love the autoharp. It's impossible to play it wrong, really.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 Yeah, they're my favorite, which I imagine they shall remain, unless I one day learn the theramin.
notJames 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 I've been playing piano since 1977 (and boy, do my fingers hurt.) I have perfect pitch, so I can listen to a song a few times and then play it relatively accurately. Some friends taught me how to play minimalist guitar about seven years ago. Mainly I do chord strumming and a little finger-picking, but nothing too earth-shattering. Nowadays I just watch other people play and pick up what I can. I played drums and clarinet in grammar school for a year, and have subsequently forgotten everything I learned.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 8, 2004 I'm glad that I actually decided to started playing the guitar a few years ago at a young age, because I have more time for experience. I've learned in my experience that experience doesn't necessarily matter when it comes to playing guitar unless you've mastered all your chords and can play by ear, then it'll make a difference between two people, per se, but I've seen guys who'll say "Oh I've been playing for like 8 years now" and know someone who has less than 3 years' experience blow them away. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted June 9, 2004 Yeah, they're my favorite, which I imagine they shall remain, unless I one day learn the theramin. You can get a kit and build your own theremin for like..45 bucks for a cheap one. They can get pricey when they're assembled, though. Same as anything. I've actually been looking into these, as it'd be a great addition to the top of the five dollar keyboard.
