Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Also features the first broken table spot in U.S. wrestling. The fact that they did it the hardway makes it that much better.....
JJMc 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Guys, I just picked it up and it is definitely worth it. I haven't even watched any of the matches. The ceremony alone is worth the purchase price. Hell, even Heenan's speech (speach?, I can never get these straight) is worth it. A great DVD, and a nice departure from the kind of DVDs they usually put out. I couldn't agree more, I would say it's something you should at least watch(if your not going to buy it) if you have been a fan since the 80's like me. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Also features the first broken table spot in U.S. wrestling. Well technically, the first one I can think of was when Randy Savage piledrove Ricky Morton through a ringside table in Memphis in 84. But Hogan/Race was first nationally televised. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 They got it wrong, Race/JYD IS from WM III But Tito/Valentine is the Cage match, which is cool. And please lets have a DVD of just Bobby & Gorilla
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Bobby's speech is G-O-L-D
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted June 1, 2004 They really should've used Race/Hogan for this instead of JYD/Race but I guess they were going for HOF vs. HOF matches. So can't really do much as JYD's work sucked after he left Mid-South. If anyone out there really thinks Race is overrated........watch said match..... He's Hardcore! He's Hardcore! He's Hardcore! DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I just watched the Alley Fight Ho-lee Sheet! Slaughter was a mess, he bled all over himself, the ring, Patterson, the camera, I've heard about bladejobs before, some that didn't live up to the hype, but THIS one did. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I picked it up this morning. For $17 at Best Buy, I whole-heartedly recommend this DVD to EVERYONE. I don't care when you started watching, you need to see this. Hell, stuff it in your pants and sneak out the door if you have to but watch the DVD!
Scroby 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Get this DVD, I got it today for 23 something over at FYE, its a great DVD I just got to Tito Santana and I haven't watched any of the extras yet other than Bobby Heenan's this DVD is very good. The speechs are very good, I think all of Bobby Heenan's speech is in there, I know Billy Graham got edited, you can easily tell. But this DVD was well worth the 23 something I paid for it, Bobby Heenan's speech was diffently the whole worth of the what I paid for.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I haven't bought the DVD yet, but to those who have: Who got all misty-eyed during The Brains speech? Don't lie.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 I haven't picked up the dvd YET, but will soon. And I must admit that just on what they showed on WWE Tv I got misty-eyed seeing the clips of Heenan's speech. As a fan since the early 80's, I can't wait to see the entire dvd. Scroby 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 You'll be laughing your ass off doing The Brain's speech. The camera crew gets a joke in there also during someone else's speech, you'll have to catch it.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted June 3, 2004 All is I have to say is the WWE and Nascar.....anyone who has seen this knows the hilarity that I speak of........
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 3, 2004 I definitely recommend this DVD set. As far as I'm concerned, the bonus matches are just the icing on the cake. The ceremony itself is pretty good. Heenan's "wild life" rant alone makes the DVD worth buying.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 I haven't bought the DVD yet, but to those who have: Who got all misty-eyed during The Brains speech? Don't lie. I didn't just because there wasn't much to get misty-eyed about, except for when he mentioned Monsoon at the end of the speech. I just felt a bit depressed after that, since it would've really been great if Monsoon were still here. Thank god for the Heenan portion, though, as I've found the majority of the speeches to be almost unbearable at times. This is referring to the speeches on Disc 1, though, as I've only watched a bit of the second. I wish they had included more Heenan stuff from PTW, since what we've got is under five minutes in total. Still great stuff. "Don't stop driving. There's tigers over there!" SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 I've just finished it myself and I really enjoyed it. Seeing the older stars getting recognized really was great and was worth the money spent, and thats just the ceremoney itself. They did a great job of making it feel important and special, with Heenan stealing the show. I agree it's a must have DVD.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 So after reading this thread I rushed out yesterday and bought it. Being a fan since the 80's and having watched these wrestlers in their prime (for the most part), I'm loving it. Seeing some of these guys get the respect they deserve is truly touching to see. Pete Rose/Kane/Rikishi comments had me rolling as well as the Nascar thing. I'm only half way through the first disc and I already feel my money was well spent.
