Maybe they wanted to get back to the clubhouse to see Smarty Jones...?

Yankees totally forgot that they had a game today.

Utterly disgusting.

So them winning four straight prior to this, nine of their last 10 and nine of their last 10 series, not to mention having a three and a half game lead over the Red Sox, isn't good enough for you? I know some say I'm as bad with the Cubs, but if they were in the Yanks' position from me, you'd be hearing nothing but good things from me. Over the course of 162 games, you're likely to lose quite a few. Especially when your opposition is as good as Texas is.

I'll allow them losses.

I will not stand for the team no-showing games.

I don't like to watch my billion dollar allstar offense get shut down by some rookie fresh out of AAA.

I don't like my team to be blown out.

It's humiliating and disgusting

This entire post sounds like a self-parody. Stop taking yourself so seriously, AS. It's frustrating to see your favorite team lose, but stop acting like it's the end of the world. It's one game.

You will not stand for them no-showing games? How, exactly? What are you going to do about it? What are you in position to do about it? The answer to both: nothing.

You don't like your team to get blown out? I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of the fan who enjoyed seeing their team get their asses handed to them. It's not easy to take, but it happens to every team at least a few times throughout the season.

Get over yourself, man.

What I always do. Bitch until I get it out of my system.

I'm almost over it now.

And I'll scream everytime it happens.

Well save your constant bitching for people who care, because nobody here wishes to hear it(really, take a poll if you don't believe me).

I don't think they were so much downtrodden as much as they didn't really care today.

It's not like they just ran into a good pitcher today. I'd almost understand if that was all. But they were flailing around like idiots at the plate making quick outs, playing ludicrously bad defense, and letting those GOD DAMN balls drop AGAIN.

There is a diffence between a team of stars having an off day and a team of stars playing d level baseball in every category.

Anyone else stoked about the MLB draft taking place on June 7th-8th? You can hear it at MLB.com, and it's caused me to start scouring the college names coming in. A good site to see the list of entries is http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...ted-statistics/ as well as MLB.com which is having a draft site located here http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/draftday/y2004/index.jsp which also has videos of most of the players as well as articles, etc.

You're underestimating Dominguez. He struck out 8.78 batters per 9 innings in the minors, with a 2.9 K:BB ratio. Excellent numbers. It was only a matter of time before he put it together for the big club.

I was (trying) to say that Dominguez's ability was not the sole reason they lost today.

Their overall approach today was just terrible in both offensive and defensive categories.

Appears as if Randy Wolf will be going on the DL, if Billy Wagner is able to come off it. If that happens Ryan Madson is going to start in his place. If Wagner can't come off then Madson won't leave the pen, so they'll probably have to go with Hancock or skip the spot in the rotation. I can't see them bringing up Gavin Floyd for a spot start yet.

They've got to use Madson as a starter. He's been a good reliever, but not letting him start because he's a good reliever would be so utterly stupid that it would defy explanation.

Its hard to say, as Farnsworth posted truly excellent seasons in 2001 and 2003. If he can get into a groove, he has potential to be one of the better relievers in baseball.

Borowski was placed on the 15 day DL with right shoulder strain. This could explain his poor performances this season, but regardless, this may be the time for someone to step up in the closer role.

Everybody needs to watch BaseBall Tonight or SportsCenter tonight, and here's why.

Little groundball to first, Ken Harvey goes to charge it, Pitcher goes to cover first and runs in front of Ken Harvey while he's throwing the ball. Ball hits pitcher in face and his face catches Ken Harvey's fist, knocks him out cold. Ken Harvey may have seperated his shoulder too.

I saw it and it looked brutal, not to mention something that you'll probably see once in a lifetime.
