Reggie walks into the YES booth, sits down, and we hit three home runs in the inning. I think he's a horrible human being. He treats the employees that aren't on the field like shit. He was a big asset most of last year, but I don't think he's the closer the Cubs should have if they're serious about contending. Moving him down in the pen won't help much, since the majority of these guys are brought in during tight situations, which is exactly the reason why we're discussing getting him out of the closer role. Fun fact: A's starters now have seven straight no decisions. In six of the seven games the starter allowed two runs or less. Fun fact #2: A's are pretty much screwed with this offense (which was mediocre at best with Chavez) and bullpen. Fun fact #3: I'm soooooooooo not looking forward to mental morons that make up half of A's fans who will want Beane fired for not making the playoffs this year and to hire a GM who values "small ball." They should want him fired for not being willing to spend money on Tejada but being willing to sign Kotsay to that insane extension. Tejada at SS and Crosby at 2nd would have been nice for Oakland. Miguel Tejada is set to make $72 Million over the next 8 years(2004-2011) while making $11 Mill in 2005, $12 Mill in 2006 and 2007 and $13 Mill in 2008 and 2009. Bored 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 FS get your facts straight it was ownership that said they weren't going to even attempt to sign Tejada before the 2003 season started (which probably contributed to his horrendous start to that season) because they said they couldn't afford him. Also on top of that Kotsay signed that extension back in July 2002 with the Padres. This past offseason certainly wasn't Beane's best but he is primarily responsible for this team winning 392 games in a four-year span. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Because Crosby projects to be as good as Tejada. The better question is why should organizations waste money on overrated players. Bored 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 The Yankees don't seem to need two good middle infielders. Again this is all irrelevent because ownership was never going to pay the money to keep Tejada. Also Tejada's contract isn't that back loaded as yes he only makes $7 million this year but it will jump to $11 million next year, which is $2.5 million more than Eric Chavez will make next year. He'll make $12-13 million/year the remainder of the contract which is about what the A's will have to be paying Tim Hudson when they likley sign him to an extension this offseason. I swear I heard Beane gave Kotsay and even longer extension. There was some details that had to be worked out in the contract about a no trade clause when they made the deal but the money was already in place.
