TheBigSwigg Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Not usually one to post the ratings, but holy crap! Source: PWInsider.com Last night’s edition of SmackDown scored a 4.1 rating with a seven share, which pushed UPN to a third place finish. This is the highest overnight rating SmackDown has scored in a while, also this could be a good indicator that the show is already picking up part of the summer audience. The final number should be posted later today.
King Cucaracha Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Wow. I can't even think of a witty comment. Just...wow.
Lightning Flik Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 ...how... This makes absolutely no sense at all! That show was absolute CRAP.
TheBigSwigg Posted June 4, 2004 Author Report Posted June 4, 2004 I bet the credit goes to the Undertaker
Guest Choken One Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 the credit will go to Taker and the bIKINI deal
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 ah shit so many people proclaim Smackdown was shit that people came on just to see how shitty and now vince will be convinced that producing shit for the show is the way to go
Youth N Asia Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I thought it might go up again after the tv season had done all their big finals and whatnot. But I wasn't expecting a 4.1 for that crap.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Final number is in By Dave Meltzer Smackdown last night delivered a 3.3 rating, which has to come as good news considering how the show had been doing.
razazteca Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Is this the 1st time Smackdown had better ratings than Raw?
Guest Coffey Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 The ratings don't mean anything, ever, nor have they ever.
Youth N Asia Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Oh, duh, overnight. I didn't read past the 4.1
Guest Choken One Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 ever? NO. Smackdown brought in 3.8's and higher while Raw drew 3.2's for a good while...mainly because of better content but more people have UPN then SPIKE. And Cable and Network are different with the ratings systems.

Kurt Angle Mark Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Is this the 1st time Smackdown had better ratings than Raw? No, Smackdown has gotten a better number than Raw a few times but not many But like it has been noted, network and cable TV have different rating systems. Which is why last week Smackdown can get a 2.9 rating while Raw gets a 3.5 and Smackdown still beats it in total viewers 4.4 million to 4.3 million.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I bet the credit goes to the Undertaker As it should, really. He's the number one face on SD!
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 The ratings don't mean anything, ever, nor have they ever. Yes they do. They slide low enough, the show gest dropped. That means something, idiot.

That means something, idiot. One night's doesn't though. It's always funny when the rating comes in and it's say a 3.4 down from last week's 3.5 and the dirt sheet guy's always gotta add something like "This can't be seen as good by the wwe" Ya think? Then theirs the ppl who are like "OMFG THE RATING FELL A POINT WWE IS GOING UNDER"

You can be damn sure the WWE is checking how consistant their ratings are.
Guest thetrendsetter Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 The Whole Reason for the ratings surge: Rene Dupre...
Scroby Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Now how will this affect Taker's schdule, will he be on Smackdown more now since the rating went up or will be kept as a every weeks apperance type of deal?
iggymcfly Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 God, the formula's so simple that I can't believe people still haven't picked up on it. If you promote a main event that people want to see, they'll usually stick around and watch the show. Otherwise, not. Of course in the long run, the show needs to be entertaining too, but in the short term, people will sit through one or two shitty shows if they think there's a big main event coming.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 WWE will now produce 10 minute segments for bikini contests because 10 year old boys who steal their mothers moisture creams are still up in time for Smackdown. We all know it. Or maybe The Undertaker popped the rating. BTW, when did 3.3 become "an improvement"? Didn't the show do a 3.4 last week?

Guest Nater Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I think the Dudleyz vs. Taker is a great move for grudges, since neither are fitting into their division. It leaves a lot of questions for fans to hype and mark over. Can Taker do it in a handicap match vs the most accredited tag team? Will Taker be force into an uneasy alliance? ... etc. The Basham/Eddie match had for a lot of sloppy spots and the flow wasnt enough to cover for that. Bikini contests, you can tell somebody is panicking and I dont know who's palms are sweatier, Vince or the 38 year old phantom anime geek who is passing up his Stellvia of the Universe on VCD set just to peer at the chapped hide epidermal layer that is Sable. (which reminds me, I miss Dean). Heyman needs to start busting some balls and fix this shit asap.

Why can't Smackdown just get worse and worse until the networks take it off TV... everything that can be wrong on SD IS happening.
Kizzo Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 I hate this rating...because this means in Vince's eyes that they are going in the right direction...and nothing needs to be done... Which means Pritchard(hate that name)..gets more creative power..

Guest JMA Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 ...I was embarrassed to watch, to be honest You still watch? I intentionally do other things so I won't even be tempted to turn Smackdown on.
thecitythesky Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 * the irony of my situation... is that now that i DO have to work on Thursday nights i watch Smackdown!... ... since there's nothing else to do at work. and man... do i miss having something better to do. the upside is... that at least i'm getting paid to put up with such nonsense.
