AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 I hate to be that guy, but did anyone cap the show, or know where to download it? I'm going to e-mail TNA, TSN, The Score, and maybe some others to see if they've got anything in the works, but that doesn't do me much good in the meanwhile. Silence 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 Hopefully I can figure out some way to start seeing Impact regularly since Dish Network basically screwed me over. Well, I have an illegal Dish Network card I would watch Impact on DirecTV if my dad still had an illegal DirecTV card that still works Dude. You pirate from both satellite providers, and the screwed you? Hoping that I don't derail this topic by doing so, but may I suggest you actually pay for something? Dish will give you Impact! and other programming reliably on their $30/mo plan, and unless you're too young to get a job that should be affordable. Well then I'd have to buy WWE PPV's at almost $35 (depending on whether or not the PPV looked good on paper) if I had to pay for Dish Network. By the way, I'm 18. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 While I haven't watched the show, I have a big fucking smile on my face thanks to what seems to be happening. Let's just hope that Impact keeps up this kind of quality.
bradolson 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 this was my first time seeing TNA for any length of time. i thought i was OK, but did nothing to make me want to order the PPV. if i were them, i'd cut back on the PPVs to maybe one every 3 weeks. then you get 3 weeks of build-up (more than WWE gives most PPV feuds) and you can charge $20 for the PPV. i'd think you would get more buys for $20 every 3 weeks compared to $10 every week so the revenue would be about the same but the cost of producing PPVs would be cut by 2/3. Garth 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 No problemo. I'll be so pleased if Impact actually does the job it set out to do and increase the PPV buys. It would be nice to have a proper number 2 to WWE.
AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 I watched some video files of the show. Unfortunately, the files were corrupted, or incomplete, or something, so I only saw roughly the first half of each of the non-squash matches. What I did see was very good, and very different from what WWE puts out every week. That'll be the key to their success. Doing their unique thing, and doing it well. And hopefully not pissing people off with lacklustre PPVs once they decide to shell out the bucks. I like the whole presentation of the show. The set looks pretty nice. They might have to give the PPV set at the Asylum a bit of a makeover, because it looks drab by comparison. You don't want people paying their $10 and being turned off by what they see, since the whole point of Impact! is to attract the buys. The ring looked good, and, again, it's different. I only saw a few hiccups on the wrestlers' part as far as execution goes, and I'm sure things will only improve as they get used to it. I like it, and I hope someone in Canada takes notice. Garth 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 Sorry about that, the files were the same on my computer and i thought it was my computer being totally lame, if i'd realised it wasn't i wouldn't of given the screwed up link.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 This is from the GameFAQS board I also felt like it was missing any real sense of showmanship... it seemed more like "let's flop around and run into each other" instead of "let's put on a show for the audience." Maybe that's what some people like so much... that it's lots of action little "show," but I want to be entertained, and as such, I still prefer WWE. I didnt think people like this actually existed. There people who DONT like the wrestling? Does this mean more Jeff Jarrett vs Dusty Rhodes in 10 minute promos? Or worse case scenario having 3 Live Cru rapping with BJ Armstrong James Dogg as Bubba Sparkx, Konnan K-Dogg as South Park Mexican and Ron Killings as DMX. Please dont tell me that all 3 will start barking like fools the way Rick Steiner used to do back in the day.

Guest Goodear Report post Posted June 5, 2004 I also felt like it was missing any real sense of showmanship... it seemed more like "let's flop around and run into each other" instead of "let's put on a show for the audience." Maybe that's what some people like so much... that it's lots of action little "show," but I want to be entertained, and as such, I still prefer WWE. I can sort of see that actually as most of the guys seemed more interested in hitting their spots correctly than playing to the crowd in any significant portion. Which is fine for the most part, but I think the workers could get more over if they injected a little more personality into the mix. I think the production could have helped out a little more if they would have done a few more close ups so to help the fans tell like Storm and Harris apart (I couldn't). But that is really just a picking of a nit. The show for the most part was pretty good for a television show where they're trying to sell something without giving it away entirely. Sure the matches could have been stretched a little, but I can see why they weren't. As far as individual workers were concerned, I was actually more impressed with Michael Shane than I though I would be as he provides a pretty decent base for the more lucha guys bounces him around. Sonjay had some damn fine spring to his ranas and such and Abyss did a pretty good job of selling for a match where he wasn't supposed to sell at all. Give the experience a thumbs up. Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 Thoughts: - They need to work the uniqueness of the 6 sided ring more. I may have missed it, but did they even give an explanation for it? - Abyss needs to lose his garbageman vest, now. - No need for the Popeye/Shark Boy shit. It makes TNA look very bush league. - No more Hector Garza, Dallas or Dusty Rhodes, please. Also, Primetime Elix Skipper is sloppy as hell. - Cut back on the country music ads. - Let Styles go over Kazarian on Wednesday and have it lead to Daniels-Styles feud on Impact. - I like the time clock on the top and the ticker on the bottom. Gives it a more "sporty" feel. I can't watch it live because I work during that time, but I'll definitely tape it every week.

syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 Yeah, basically Jerk. If I felt like it, I could walk up to anybody on the street eating a Snickers and go off on them for dropping the wrapper on the ground. Or go into a club and charge up every under age person in there and call the cops on all of them. Or go to Mama's Gas Station and tell the man filling up to stop because its killing his car and its just water, lemonade and some Crisco thats powering his car for the next 5 miles. He can do whatever he wants to that guy, and the one with the cell phone can do whatever HE wants.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 You'd think that at 4AM, Impact would be safe from preemption on Comcast Mid-Atlantic... IT ISN'T! Next week, instead of Impact, we get an O's game replay. Two weeks in, and this fucking sucks already. My program guide doesn't go that far ahead, but CSN doesn't air that many Orioles games on Fridays (most go to O's TV Network, which I can't get..but thats another story) The real problem is during the fall when theres Capitals and Wizards games, they usually carry one of them on most fridays and they get replayed.. You would think that the large gaping time between like 10 am and 4pm of PAID PROGRAMMING could be interrupted for a lousy hour a week to show Impact, but I guess not.. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 For anyone in the same boat I'm in...where you don't actually have a local Fox Sports station but do have Fox Sports Atlantic, Central and Pacific.. Impact is scheduled to air next friday at 4pm on Fox Sports Pacific. Those channels are so weird with how they choose programming (some days one will have the Best Damn Sports show on...other days none of them will...) I'd imagine there will be weeks that the show will be carried...and others where it will not.
Guest Donners Report post Posted June 6, 2004 RVD is a big name. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up getting the world title if he comes in. That would be a bad move IMO. I never rated him much as a wrestler, but lately he's been making it all too clear in the ring that he just isn't interested which makes his matches even worse. I doubt a move to TNA would drastically change that. Then again, WWE will probably try to hang onto him, since they can't afford to lose another Smackdown "name". With Directv, the only way to get any of the additional Fox Sports channels is to pay of the Sports Pak which is $12 a month, and they black out most of, if not all of the out of market sports games (major sports anyway) so I dont see the point of paying for it. Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 While GameFAQs is a great site for the resources it's named after, it's message boards are a cesspool that would make some of our most stupid banned posters look smart by comparison. HandofFate 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 Does anybody know where I can find a downloadable copy of Impact? I don't really want to sign up for some forum site. I would just prefer some kind of direct link to a site so that I can download it and not wade through pages and pages of replies to find a link that works. This is what I get for going to tvguide.com and it saying that it will be on at 2, but it plays at 3. DAMN YOU tvguide.com! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!! tvguide.com
Styles 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 Well it looks like Comcast Midatlantic (DC/Balt.) is not being shown next week due to an O's replay. Unbelievable I can't believe FOUR AM isn't exempt from pre-emptions. I thought about calling the station to see if they could play it at another time (ANY TIME!!!) but I've already had enough fun arguing with my cable company all week to try to get the TNA monthly package deal (which they refuse to believe exists/don't offer it/whatever other excuse they give me), so I think I'll ask my Uncle who has Direct TV to tape it for me next week. For anyone else in the DC/Balt area, I suggest you do the same if you know someone with Direct TV, otherwise, try calling the station, and do post if something get's done!!! syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 I have Impact but I cant and wont upload it anywhere. If you know how to use mIRC, Ill send it to you. And if RVD came to TNA, he would do the same thing D'lo and Raven did. Both were ass in WWE, but when they came to TNA they put on some great matches. And Im sure the guy wasnt in a small corner phoning in results. He was probably in row 6, section j, seat 12 going "Man. Red just did some crazy move. They won. OK, Red, Garza and Dutt won the first match."
