syxx2001 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Actually, money has killed music. If no one cared about the 5 million for every concert they do, they would put out music that means something to them. And no one would be trying to make a song that sounds like the next.
razazteca Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 The sad thing is, some people actually will go and see the sequel. This TRL generation of people has killed today's music, and crap like You Got Served is made because of them. It's all DJ Clue & La La's fought and especially that show of theirs that may have a Top 10 countdown but showing 30 seconds of a video does not count.

1234-5678 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Is it time to totally give up on American culture yet?
Art Sandusky Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 So when was this magical age when every single album, film, and television show produced was sparkling good? The "good old days" are the old days because they sucked ass for the most part, or else they'd still be called "today."
1234-5678 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 1992. Music had GNR, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, STP for rock, and Dre, Snoop, Cypress Hill for rap. Terminator 2 was in theaters. The Simpsons and Seinfeld were on television. Great times were had by all.
Art Sandusky Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 How boring, with only seven musical acts to listen to, as well as only one film and two television shows to watch.
1234-5678 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Nah. I'm still not tired of em. Tired of shit like "You Got Served", "White Girls", "Save The Last Dance", "American Idol", and all the other assorted junk floating around, though. And it shows no signs of stopping.
Exslade ZX Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Nah. I'm still not tired of em. Tired of shit like "You Got Served", "White Girls", "Save The Last Dance", "American Idol", and all the other assorted junk floating around, though. And it shows no signs of stopping. But the thing is...all the stuff that you sid were good, a lot of people would say 'are crap'. And that includes me. Because quite frankly that's not what I like... That's not to say 'music appreciation' has gone down like some of the people in the thread put it...it just means people like something different now. You know 'Times Change.' So that's not to say that it's so bad, or so wrong, because the fact is it's opinion. And it just so happens to be the opinion of 85% or maybe even more of America.
Star Ocean 3 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 The good old days are the 1800's. When Franz Liszt ruled the world. Richard Wagner revolutionized opera. Artists such as Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel began exploring new facets of music. Dr. Pepper was just introduced to the world. Ah, yes.
notJames Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 You Got Served 2: Mo' Better Servin's And JAxl's right. American pop culture jumped the shark a long time ago. There are few things mainstream that are worth the effort to market.
1234-5678 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 So that's not to say that it's so bad, or so wrong, because the fact is it's opinion. And it just so happens to be the opinion of 85% or maybe even more of America. Those people are all idiots. Do you want to follow the opinions of idiots! Huh! Do you!

And I guess I could say IMO people who like Guns N Roses are dumbasses. Do you want to follow the opinions of dumbasses!? Huh?

razazteca Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 It could be worst Whitney and Bobby Brown could be featured as Auntie & Unkle to the B2K & IMX boys in the sequel.
Guest Sturgis Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 To quote Abe Simpson "I used to be "with it". But then they changd what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't "it" and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you"

WrestlingFan4Ever Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Guns n' Roses were great, probably one of the last TRUE rock bands to form. Too bad grunge music ruined rock and roll...no offense, but today's so-called "rock music" is not real rock. Whatever happened to music with soul? Maybe when Guns N' Roses FINALLY releases "Chinese Democracy", real rock will make a comeback.

You say today's music isn't..but they're popular with people, who in their mind it is real rock. Or good rock, whatever. Now Im not a rock fan, I'm just wondering, what exactly gives you to right to say what's good and what's not? Once again it all boils down to opinion.
razazteca Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 It sure the hell is not New Found Glory or Story of the Year.
ant_7000 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Man, My mom rented this and she fell asleep during the movie. I saw like the last ten minutes of this movie and I thought the dancing was almost unrealistic. Now they are making another sequel to this, I know my friend's 15 year old sister would go see this since she's a big B2K fan. Anyway, your better off going to a "Breakin" competition or go to a club if you want to see some sexual gyrating "Bump N Grind" dancing.

Real Rock: Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains NOT Real Rock: Creed, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, New Found Glory, Hoobastank, 3 Doors Down
