Everyone sees them wether they want too or not. They've even spread to the movie theater.

 

What are your favorite and least favorite commercials of all time?

 

What about current commercials?

 

It's my opinion that commercials get worse and worse. The Gap commercials have to be my least favorite ads of all time that I can think of right now.

I hate any commercial that has NOTHING to do with the product. Like a recent Lay's ad. It's basically just a cute girl eating the chips and that's all. Commercials like that make me want to drive to an ad agency and choke somebody.

 

One commercial I do like right now is the "old man" Six Flags ad. It's humorous and puts out a good overall message.

You're talking about the crazy dancing old man commercial? No way would I let my kids get on the bus with that guy. Funny commercial though.

 

I really like the Pepsi commercial they show during Chicago Cubs games where Sammy Sosa gets treated to a super hot 5 alarm taco courtesy of a White Sox fan.

I hate every and all commercials for prescribtion drugs, half the time I have no idea what it is for.

One commercial I do like right now is the "old man" Six Flags ad. It's humorous and puts out a good overall message.

Well, except for his brief "Big Wiggle" dance. Or it could be "Riding the Pony". Either way, it's kinda creepy. Plus it pays royalties to the Vengaboys, and I can't say that that's a good thing.

The Gap commercials where they swing dance were great. Everything else they've done have plaed in comparison.

 

Soft spot in my heart for the "Whassup?" ads. Yeah, they got old, but admit it - you loved them when they first came on.

 

I don't particularly care for the local drop-in ads. They're fine when they're to the point, but when they try to "act" and parody something that's popular (i.e. The Apprentice), it's Lita-level horrid.

 

The ads I REALLY hate are the "name actor reads a letter from a DirectTV subscriber". Although it WAS nice to see Joan Cusak crawl out from the rock she was hiding under...

I really hate the Pepsi ad on the radio where they have a "Coke executive" claiming Pepsi has mind control stuff in it.

 

It's annoying as fuck and it won't make people drink Pepsi.

 

Everytime I hear it I graba Coke from the fridge.

I often hear a radio commercial that advertises the same level of clean at a local carwash as a specially-trained Border Collie that wipes itself over your car with detergent on it.

I like a recent Discovery Channel spot I saw where a guy fucks up a transporter or something and half of his wife ends up missing and running through the streets of the city while her upper half is stuck in the transporter.

The Greatest Ad Campaign of all time was Dominoes Pizza's Avoid the Noid ads. I mean, they drove a guy who thought they were about him to hold up a Dominoes at gunpoint!

Those ads not only made me avoid the Noid, but Dominoes as well. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Dominoes has some of the worst "big chain" pizza around (you haven't had bad until you've had Hungry Howies)

Everything else falls short. Except for maybe some non-US commercials, like the "Joe Canadian" ads for Molson.

I'm a fan of the recent return of the Budweiser Lizards, just to make fun of the Miller for President ones. They definitely had the right idea going there.

 

The new Ford Focus ones are getting on my nerves, although damn if the car ain't fun to drive when you bolt on the turbo.

Damn right! My favorite is one I saw a few years back with a bunch of guys in a sauna, and a guy threw his towel over the convienently-placed duck's head (creating a HILARIOUS~ visual).

Nope, Houston. But I'm from Toronto, so I've been subjected to years of Mayor Mel saying "Noooooooobody!!!" for his kid's furniture stores...

What makes it worse is that the guy frequently goes to a gym two miles away. And that is why I can't ever go there.

 

Other annoying commercials:

 

- LIers will know this one: B&B Furniture (on Rte. 112 in Medford), there are two middle aged men saying how their stuff is more durable than anybody else --- their way of testing it? Hitting the other person (rather fakely too)...and they've been running the same commercials since the mid 90's

Hey, Starvenger, I'm from Houston too. Have you seen the Hilton furniture commercials? He actually named his daughter Paris! WTF

 

Anyway, I didn't get those Chiclet commercials where they say dirty sounding words. Chiclet doesn't sound dirty to me. And those Gap commercials where they keep taking off their shirts, I can live with that.

I love all the Aflac ads. AFLAC.

 

Recent ads I've hated hmm there's a ton of them. THE ENFORCER anti-drug ad was terrible. I can't stand the Quiznos Subs sponge monkey ads. Oh and probably my current most hated commercials are those Miller ads where they have the king of beers debate with a horse. Just terrible.
