Owning a house...

Recommended Posts

I dunno what the real estate market is like where you all live, but out here in Sacramento, CA it is f'n looney. Houses going on the market are getting bids up to $25,000 over what they are asking due to demand. The MINIMUM for ANYTHING resembling a "house" is approx $230,000 and that is for your basic 2-3 bedroom, 1-2 bath, and typical tiny front yard, and rectangle suburbia backyard.

I am just afraid of what it will be like by the time I finally try and get a house one day :(

kkk, if I frightened you off of the house i'm sorry. Overall, I think it was a good idea.

Bah. I'm past the point of no return now anyway. We'll probably be moving in July 22 (of course I'll be out-of-state due to work, but I digress)...

Long Island is just as apeshit (if not more).

You might be able to get $150,000 houses in a place like Mastic, but the houses are nothing more than glorified shacks. To get a decent home would usually be $250,000+, or even more if you're looking for something on the North Shore, immediate South Shore or the East End.
