Spaceman Spiff Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Might as well start one. Knoble/London was 1st. Match had a commercial break in the middle. With the break, it was about 7-8 minutes (estimate, didn't time it). London had more offense than the 1st meeting between the 2, but Knoble wins with the Tiger Driver (a nice version where he was able to get a bit of air, and hook his feet around London's shoulders while they were both in the air) after London misses the 450 splash. Match also featured Knoble's wicked belly-to-side back suplex. Not as good as the 1st meeting, IMO, but still a quality match. MOTW for the SD brand.
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Knoble/London was good, not at the level of the first match but good. London needs to win the third match of the series, he is getting to horowitz levels...quick.
razazteca Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Lil Guido is doing his best to carry the match.
razazteca Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 The double high kick was nice but Sakoda still does not impress me much.
DangerousDamon Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Nice double team move by the FBI. That was a pretty good match.
Spaceman Spiff Posted June 19, 2004 Author Report Posted June 19, 2004 Agree. Very nice match, and FBI got a nice face reaction pre- and post-match. Pretty sweet finisher by the FBI. 2-for-2 with good matches on Velocity this week. I don't think match 3 is going to be anything special, though.
SuperJerk Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Agree. Very nice match, and FBI got a nice face reaction pre- and post-match. Pretty sweet finisher by the FBI. I'd be happy to hear that if I thought it'd ever turn into a push.
Spaceman Spiff Posted June 19, 2004 Author Report Posted June 19, 2004 Me, too. I'm a hige FBI mark. I would have loved a Stamboli/Palumbo tag title reign.
MillenniumMan831 Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Shamalamalama . . . Dolla Dolla Bills!!!
AnonymousBroccoli Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I don't know if I'd call it better, but I think I liked this second Noble vs. London match better. Wouldn't the finisher be a Tiger Bomb, though? I'd figure a Tiger Driver would be Jay Briscoe's J-Driller, or Kid Kash's Money Maker, and would therefore be very banned by WWE.
Spaceman Spiff Posted June 20, 2004 Author Report Posted June 20, 2004 Holly/Jindrak was OK. Nice to see Jindrak developing a personality. I liked Jindrak bailing twice to avoid the chops from Holly early in the match. Jindrak's finisher is nice, too.

No, I don't think it would be called a Tiger Bomb. Misawa does that exact same move and he calls it a Tiger Driver.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Watching the tape now, and Noble has to be the first person EVER on WWE TV to counter the "skin the cat" back in. That was just awesome looking.
ISportsFan Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 The original Tiger Driver was what stupid announcers like Michael Cole call a Tiger Bomb. It is a double underhook powerbomb. Originally there was no Tiger Bomb, but American announcers have transformed the Driver into a Bomb, if that makes any sense. Jason

Guest Choken One Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I hate how pretentious people act like it is a big deal if the move is called a BOMB or a DRIVER.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Thank God WWE doesn't call it the "Pearl River Plunge" anymore. And Noble/London was probably the best match on the Smackdown brand shows this week...and it's on the C-Show. (SD is a B-show according to everyone).

BHK Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I wonder how muc attention it would garner if they actually made Velocity and Heat roster and ran angels on both shows. Obviously it would be nothing like SD/Raw, but ya know, at least it'd be fresh.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 So technically I AM right. I didn't watch the first match, but Noble still did it...

Guest Real F'n Show Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 London/Noble was about **1/2 and FBI vs. Kyo Dai was *3/4 The first Noble/London match was alot better IMO. London's got a nice 450, but it'd be better if he could use the London Calling. Noble's Tiger Driver was pretty awesome as well. Kyo Dai/FBI was surprisingly good, and Guido/Yang had a really fast opening sequence. Didn't bother to watch Jindrak/Holly.
Guest Choken One Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I still wish they did a Title Tournament for the CW Title... I mean god it was right there for them...they have a understaffed card of 3 matches...Plug in 3 CW matches (semi and Finals) and you get more meat...Mysterio/Knoble and Chavo/Kidman with Mysterio/Chavo finals would been better then Classic just gettin squashed... Have it that Kurt was informed that Chavo Classic was never a WWE employed worker and that because of that he would be stripped of the title (then Classic just disappears and never comes back) and then Set up qualifying matches of Mysterio Vs Nunzio, Knoble Vs London, Chavo Vs Funaki and Kidman Vs Akio...Hell have two of the matches on Smackdown and Hype the Chavo/Funaki and Kidman/Akio matches for Velocity (to give the show a more "important" feel)... Or we can just get more Jindrak/Jordan matches for the ppv. either way

Silence Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 The first Noble/London match was alot better IMO. I thought the 1st London/Noble Velocity match was better also, but unfortunately, there was a commercial break that cut into the middle of the match at one point on my TV that night and that made me miss some of it. I think the commercial break was extended, too, which really pissed me off.

The first match had like a 4 minute mat sequence at the beginning which was awesome, and it also had a great finish with London countering Noble's Paydirt into a northern lights and Noble then bridging back up with Paydirt again.
