Anya Posted June 23, 2004 Author Report Posted June 23, 2004 I don't think the pause trick works. I couldn't get it to work on the rock monster. I actually beat it without using it though. Go me.
Anya Posted June 24, 2004 Author Report Posted June 24, 2004 I beat 1 and 2. So far I've unlocked an art gallery and two music tracks.
Hoff Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Sounds like the PS2 has a bit better extras, although I'm sure I'll eventually pick up both. Thanks, guys.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 I just unlocked Power Battle. Interesting but I don't know how much I'll play it.
The Metal Maniac Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 What's the in-store price on this game? I saw online it was around $30 american. I'm probably going to get it as soon as I see it, and have the available funds.
Star Ocean 3 Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Sounds like the PS2 has a bit better extras, although I'm sure I'll eventually pick up both. Thanks, guys. ...
Hoff Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Let me qualify. Sounds like, IN MY OPINION, the PS2 has a bit better extras, although I'm sure I'll eventually pick up both. Thanks, guys.
chaosrage Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Sounds like the PS2 has a bit better extras, although I'm sure I'll eventually pick up both. Thanks, guys. ...
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Gotta love one hit killing the final Wily in Megaman 3.
Scroby Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 I picked up the Gamecube verison today. The controllers are fine but thanks to Gamespot I keep thinking B=shooting and A= Jumping which they stated the controlls were. B is the jump button and A is the shoot button and I keep screwing up cause of Gamespot. But I'm happy I picked up the game, I'll take my time on it.
Hoff Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Sounds like the PS2 has a bit better extras, although I'm sure I'll eventually pick up both. Thanks, guys. ... Well if that had been made clearer... *ahem* If that had been made clearer by SO3, I could have responded to the correct point. However, "..." tells me nothing. So, to sum, if you're going to question or criticize someone, be sure to explain what your criticism is. Anyway, I'll likely pick up the GC eventually for the different bonus material, and simply out of curiosity. I don't mean initially; more like a few years down the road. I'm a huge Mega Man fan, it's worth it to me.
dubq Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 I picked up the PS2 version last night. I had the intention of getting the Cube one only because of the rumor I heard that you ONLY had remixed tracks on the PS2 version, and no originals, but once I found out that you can actually swtich between the two, the PS2 was the way to go for me [especially since Nintendo has this bizarre fear of introducing backwards compatibility into their nextgen systems, unlike Sony].
AndrewTS Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Anyone know for sure just how things are unlocked? I haven't completed any of the games yet--been skipping around defeating bosses in several of the games. So far I unlocked a song, Power Fighters 2, and an ep of the TV series. (PS2) Maybe it has to do with the number of bosses you beat and from which games?
Anya Posted June 25, 2004 Author Report Posted June 25, 2004 Yeah, it has to do with beating bosses, not beating the game. I don't think it even saves beating the game, your last save is always the Wily stages.
AndrewTS Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 It's kinda mixed. GameFAQs has a bunch of updates on it. You only get Atomic Planet credits for beating 1. Beating II and IV unlocks lots of stuff. Power Battle = beat 8 bosses in Mega Man II Power Battle 2 = beat 4 bosses in Mega Man VII Those are the major ones; look it up for the full thing.
dubq Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 It autosaved mine after I killed the last boss in MM2...
Scroby Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I think its after you beat certian games is how you unlock stuff but I really don't know.
Downhome Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I bought this game today also when I picked up Showdown and Psi-Ops (look for my thoughts on Psi-Ops soon, soooo freaking good that game is), but I haven't even put it into my system yet, heh.
dubq Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Power Battle = beat 8 bosses in Mega Man II I just completed Mega Man II and all I got was a "Wily's Revenge" music track.. This page says you have to beat MMIII to get Power Battle.
Anya Posted June 25, 2004 Author Report Posted June 25, 2004 You can't trust Gamefaqs. People are sending in codes without varifying them. I know for sure 2 of those are not accurate. I did not get the hidden game after beating 2 and I got the credits before beating 1.
DrVenkman PhD Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 The pricing of this game baffles me. It's $29.99 US, with 6% Michigan sales tax, works out to about $41 Canadian. Here, in Canada (Ontario), it's $49.99 plus 15% sales tax. That ain't right! So, all along, I was leaning towards the Cube version, but now I think I might want to go with the PS2 one just for the ability to toggle the music in game. If someone unlocks history of Mega Man though, tell me if it's good, then I might go with Cube.
dubq Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Here, in Canada (Ontario), it's $49.99 plus 15% sales tax. That ain't right! Well whatever part of Ontario you live in is marking it up. The Canadian MSRP is $39.99, which is what I see at every store I've gone into here [Toronto].
DrVenkman PhD Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 That's what I assumed it would be, but FutureShop.ca lists it as $49. They usually have good prices on games (Four Swords was $49 Canadian as opposed to $59 everywhere else I asked), and I can't check EB's Canadian price online. I figure I'l just pop in there today and check it out.
AndrewTS Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Power Battle = beat 8 bosses in Mega Man II I just completed Mega Man II and all I got was a "Wily's Revenge" music track.. This page says you have to beat MMIII to get Power Battle. ChrisMWaters told me via IM he beat MM3 and got Power Battles. I know I got Power Battles 2 after beating several Mega Man 7 bosses. Oh, and I FINALLY BEAT GUTS MAN'S STAGE!! It seems to help to pretend those hinges aren't there, since you can't stand on them anyway it seems. Once you get past those lifts, it's not hard. You deal with some construction bots that think they're Hammer Bros--just advance towards them to go under their pick axes and you can take them out. You have to hurry though because they'll respawn on the screen right in front of you. The biggest benefit to fighting Cuts Man with Guts Man's weapon isn't necessarily the damage you get, but the extra space to actually move around. I missed with one of the blocks but still took Cuts down rather easily.
DrVenkman PhD Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Ok, so I picked up the game for $37 Canadian from Wal-Mart while replacing a broken microwave. Take that, overpricing Future Shop! I went with the PS2 version. Huh, interesting. The stupid French paper that is packaged with the Canadian box says it has the creator interview, but when removed, the actual box says footage from the TV series. I knew this already (although I thought the history piece was also a Cube exclusive, which it isn't) but I just find it odd the french slip is flase advertising.
AndrewTS Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 "although I thought the history piece was also a Cube exclusive, which it isn't" I think just the interview piece is. What's history? A narrated look at the series overall? Oh, Slash Man and Coil Man down in MM7, and Elec Man down in Mega Man 1! In order--meh. Not my bag. I hate the boarding section at the start of Wily's fortress in Mega Man 8, though.

That whole bilingual thing with DVD and Videogame packaging really annoys me.
AndrewTS Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I got the Atomic Planet credits, but didn't beat Mega Man 1.... Hmmm...
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I got a ton of stuff for going through Wily's castle in MegaMan IV.
