MrRant 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 CANTON, Mass. -- Reebok International expects to complete its acquisition of The Hockey Co. Holdings Inc. next week in a deal that will give the footwear and apparel maker its first presence in hockey. Reebok, which announced plans for the acquisition on April 8, said Thursday that it has acquired 92 percent of the shares of the Montreal-based maker and marketer of hockey apparel and equipment. Remaining shareholders will have until the close of business Friday to tender their shares, with the acquisition expected to be completed Tuesday. Reebok said it has secured all regulatory approvals for the deal. "Our acquisition of The Hockey Company is an excellent strategic fit for Reebok," said Paul Fireman, chairman and chief executive of Reebok. "The Hockey Company's primary brands, CCM, JOFA and KOHO, are among the most highly recognized and respected performance brands in the world of hockey." So basically, Reebok produces the OFFICIAL jerseys/sweaters for the NFL, NBA and now the NHL. Very impressive. Good thing or bad thing considering Reebok's marketing muscle? They'll sell equipment in states like Minnesota and Maine, but they're not gonna make significant inroads without hockey doing likewise. Nothing came of Nike buying Bauer, and this will be the same. converge241 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 i dont see reebok making money off of it its more of an image thing with them going towards world sports domination then again maybe they can because they are a great company ..i was offered a job with them back in 01 around when they got the NFL contract and while i would have liked it better turned it down for my current job in insurance for more money..its always in teh back of my head to go to them..their facilities alone are awe-inspiring full regulation basketball courts hoisted in mid air practically, full gyms and other playing fields are great to have on hand in your job, plus the discounts and celebrities who are always in *logs off to re-apply* Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
