Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 It's not like I'm going to order this piece of crap unless 10 people chip in for it, but I'll still follow what's going on via the OAO GAB THREAD Sunday night. World Championship; Bullrope Match: Eddie Guerrero © vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield United States Championship; Fatal 4-Way Elimination: John Cena © vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rene Dupree vs. Booker T Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. © vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. Handicap; Concrete Crypt Match: The Undertaker vs. The Dudley Boyz Non-Title; Un-important Matches: Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Suzuki Torrie Wilson vs. Sable SUPER LATE addition Match: Charlie Haas vs. Luther Reigns (no bother to predict this) MY PREDICTIONS: World Championship; Bullrope Match: Eddie Guerrero © vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield Predicted Winner: Eddie Guerrero Desired Winner: Eddie Guerrero Match Rating: *** I learned my lesson from last time. Guerrero can carry Bradshaw too good matches when its brawling. United States Championship; Fatal 4-Way Elimination: John Cena © vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rene Dupree vs. Booker T Predicted Winner: Rene Dupree Desired Winner: No one Match Rating: ** tops. I really don't like ANYONE in this match when it comes to match quality, but Dupree is being groomed for a title run, and it's gotta happen now. Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. © vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. Predicted Winner: Chavo Guerrero Jr. Desired Winner: No one Match Rating: **1/2 if it get's time. Chavo was probably set to get the title back from his father, but they needed a quick fix to set up another quick change. More on the death of the CW Title in coming weeks. Handicap; Concrete Crypt Match: The Undertaker vs. The Dudley Boyz Predicted Winner: No Contest Desired Winner: Don't Care. Match Rating: DUD I don't know WHAT the hell to expect. Is Taker going to fight? Probably. But this match has bad news written all over it, and I don't mean B.N. Brown. Non-Title; Un-important Matches: Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai Predicted Winner: Mordecai Desired Winner: GUESS!!! Match Rating: 1/2* Holly sucks, he's getting squashed. Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Suzuki Predicted Winner: Kenzo Suzuki Desired Winner: Me, for not watching this. Match Rating: DUD If their SD Match was any signs of this one, it's gonna suck. Torrie Wilson vs. Sable Predicted Winner: Torrie Wilson Desired Winner: Torrie Wilson...she's UNDEFEATED AT PPV! Match Rating: -** Womens matches suck, and niether are trained "wrestlers" anyway. HORRIBLE. Charlie Haas vs. Luther Reigns Predicted Winner: Luther Reigns Desired Winner: Charlie Haas Match Rating: *1/2 Haas is good, but not good enough to carry slugs like Horshu. Overall: Anyone who pays $35 for this show needs a swift kick in the pants. And this is coming from someone who thinks Mordecai might be a good main eventer.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 World Championship; Bullrope Match: Eddie Guerrero © vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield Should be decent, lets hope Eddie doesn't try to re-kill himself this time. United States Championship; Fatal 4-Way Elimination: John Cena © vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rene Dupree vs. Booker T RVD or Booker T wins via Angle screwing Cena somehow Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. © vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. Rey needs his JOB back from No Way Out. Handicap; Concrete Crypt Match: The Undertaker vs. The Dudley Boyz Undertaker goes over after wrestling 10 minutes. Unless "the right thing" they keep talking about is Undertaker actually jobbing. Non-Title; Un-important Matches: Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai Piss break. Holly getting fed = GOOD Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Suzuki Shit break. I'll take Kenzo winning. Torrie Wilson vs. Sable Quick piss and shit break. Um...Torrie wins...again?
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 They actually are putting Kenzo/Gunn on a 35 dollar ppv? This company employs Paul London and Jamie Knoble...and they are backstage extras and those two are in a high profile spot... I give up. But my predictions nonetheless WWE Title Match Eddy Guerrero Over Bradshaw Layfield Rating: **1/2 *They can't duplicate the bloody efforts of Judgement Day and the match will suffer from it, Eddy will bump madly for that sack of shit and will do anything to make it look good but there is only so far you can go U.S Title Match Booker T over Cena, RVD and Dupree Rating: ** *It'll be a hot crowd as RVD, CENA are huge faces and Dupree can draw good heat...won't be much of a match but at least it's Elimination rules for once...which surprises me because I figured they want to put the belt on Booker but not have Cena get pinned...now he HAS to be pinned. Booker gets the title because Cena doesn't need it and is apprently moving onto Angle. Crypt Match Handicap Match Dudleyz Vs 'Taker Rating: DUD *It won't even be a match. Cruiserweight Title Match Mysterio over Guerrero Rating: **3/4 *ANOTHER ONE! GOD DAMN IT! I am sick of these two. Gimme London/Chavo or Kidman/Mysterio...im so sick of this heatless neverending series. Kenzo Over Billy Gunn Rating: 1/2* *Who cares Mordeaci over Holly Rating: 1/4* *Why? WHy? WHY!? Torrie over Sable Rating: two inflated Duds *FUCK YOU VINCE!
jester Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I wonder if Holly will sandbag the new guy in order to "teach" him....and then get dropped on his head again.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I wonder if Holly will sandbag the new guy in order to "teach" him....and then get dropped on his head again. If Fertig was smart enough, he WOULD stiff the shit out of Holly to show he doesn't take shit from a never was who thinks he is somethin special.
The Mandarin Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 World Championship; Bullrope Match: Eddie Guerrero © vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield Winner: JBL in some sort of dusty finish; ** (same as last time) United States Championship; Fatal 4-Way Elimination: John Cena © vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rene Dupree vs. Booker T Winner: RVD; **1/4 Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. © vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. Winner: Rey; *3/4 Handicap; Concrete Crypt Match: The Undertaker vs. The Dudley Boyz Winner: No Contest; no rating Non-Title; Un-important Matches: Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai Winner: Mordecai; 1/2* Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Suzuki Winner: Billy Gunn; DUD Torrie Wilson vs. Sable Winner: Torrie; -***, will get more time than Rey/Chavo
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I wonder if Holly will sandbag the new guy in order to "teach" him....and then get dropped on his head again. If Fertig was smart enough, he WOULD stiff the shit out of Holly to show he doesn't take shit from a never was who thinks he is somethin special. It worked out well the last time.
SamoaRowe Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 World Championship; Bullrope Match: Eddie Guerrero © vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield United States Championship; Fatal 4-Way Elimination: John Cena © vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rene Dupree vs. Booker T Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. © vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. Handicap; Concrete Crypt Match: The Undertaker vs. The Dudley Boyz Non-Title; Un-important Matches: Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Suzuki Torrie Wilson vs. Sable
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 It's really sad... They could have used the Chavo Classic incident as a perfect excuse to use a CW Title tourny...Throw Chavo-Rey-Knoble-Kidman into a 4 Man tournament....Chavo over Kidman and Rey over Knoble. Rey over Chavo in the finals to blow off that long series...Done the WWE Title Rematch, The US 4 Way the Concrete Crypt deal and the 4 man tourny and just cut the woman's shit out and give mordeaci the 5 minute squash over holly. Same Match size...but you would have had three matches if given at least 8 minutes hitting ***+ and not really hurting the content and would have added a couple more buyrates.
geniusMoment Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 What I find funny is they went from having tons of T&A, whatever that beach crap was going to be. To having some T&A, the divas hosting or whatever that crap was. To just a straight up match between Sable/Torrie. I do not care as I am not buying the ppv either way, but if I were trying to sell a crappy ppv I would load it with T&A like they originally were going to, as that would inspire some buys. Do they honestly believe that Torrie/Sable in a normal match would sell more, talk about being out of touch with your audience.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I don't know. T&A doesn't sell IMO. kids/pre-teens/early teens don't have jobs, so their parents have to buy the shows. And IIRC, my parents wouldn't let me buy every PPV back in the day. later teens/young adults and get more out of the spice channel for $10 for a 2-3 program instead of paying $35 to see 5 minutes of someone in a bikini. old people don't watch wrestling.
Australian Pride Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Desired Winner: Torrie Wilson...she's UNDEFEATED AT PPV! Only if we are referring to singles matches - Torrie/Stacey lost Bra and Panties at the Invasion PPV in 2001.
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 old people don't watch wrestling? Depends on what is defined as old people...are we talking over 40 or like 80 here? Isn't the WWE top age demo right now the 28-34 market? That's pretty old considering in like 1990 it was 7-14 and then mid 90's it was 13-24. Naturally, you have to assume it's just the same fans and that in 2010, the main demo would be 38-45.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 By old I mean 50s-whatever. I cut off after the early adult because it seemed obvious.
geniusMoment Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 The average WWE viewer is now 34 years old, which is a scary thought. If it gets much older they will get next to nothing in advertising revenue. This could become a major story in the coming years. As for T&A selling, I feel it sells more than a straight up Torrie/Sable match.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Why are Mordecai and Holly feuding anyway?
EdwardKnoxII Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Why are Mordecai and Holly feuding anyway? Mordecai wants Holly to go to hell. Which is something alot of smarks have been telling Holly for years.
iggymcfly Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I know it sounds kinda weak, but the only time that T&A would "sell" for me is when it was Stephanie. I don't know if it was that she was rich and unattainable or whatever, but I always kind of had a thing for her. Of course to me, selling the PPV just means that I make sure to get my ass over to the bar, and maybe if they're really assholes there, I have to pay up to a $5 cover charge. Trish was kind of hot every now and then, but when it comes to bitches like Torrie and Sable, I could give a fuck less. The way GAB is looking right now, I can't think of anything that would make me go over there if I wasn't working though, let alone actually request the day off. The last PPV I saw was WM XX, and even that was a disappointment. The last PPV I saw and enjoyed was Vengeance last year, and that's because when Angle's going strong, he's a fucking miracle worker. Outside of Undertaker and occasionally Rey, I can't think of one person on Smackdown right now that I give a flying fuck about. It really amazes me that they even get 3.0s for that program, because I was about as hardcore a fan as they come for years, and I can't watch that show for more than five minutes. It still kind of amuses me to read the results and see how abd they're doing, but the actual shows are just dreadfully dull.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I watched Smackdown! for the first time in 6 months tonight. My predictions: WWE Title: Eddie Guerrero retains the title. U.S. Title: Booker T wins the title. Taker/Dudleys: Dudleys won't lose. Taker doesn't lose. Sable/Torrie: Torrie (if this even happens. I predict it WILL NOT) Mordecai/Holly: A Winner via DQ. Suzuki/Gunn: Suzuki wins. Cruiserweight Title: Uh...Rey wins.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I'll say this: Both Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly will not be PINNED.
Guest J0bber Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I apologize for getting off topic, but I understand that WWE has to plug the Bash over Vengeance since the Bash is taking place this weekend. Shouldn't they at least announce the main event for Vengeance? The Raw writers only have two more shows to build it. Are the Raw writers afraid of the fans seeing a superb Vengeance card and then not ordering the Bash?
Aero Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I apologize for getting off topic, but I understand that WWE has to plug the Bash over Vengeance since the Bash is taking place this weekend. Shouldn't they at least announce the main event for Vengeance? The Raw writers only have two more shows to build it. Are the Raw writers afraid of the fans seeing a superb Vengeance card and then not ordering the Bash? They've been building it for a few weeks now. Bischoff said on Raw that HHH faces the champion at Vengeance. It's already set to be Benoit defending against Kane this Monday, so HHH likely gets the winner at Vengeance... most like HHH vs. Benoit. My predictions... Eddie vs. JBL IF I was ordering the PPV, this is probably the match I'd want to see most. But that's not saying much. I think it'll be better than Judgment Day, but it won't be anything really special. Eddie wins, I guess by touching all four turnbuckles, like JBL explained in the rules a few weeks ago. Prediction: Eddie Cena vs. RVD vs. Booker T vs. Dupree If everyone's in the ring at the same time, it won't be that good. At least it's being kept an elimination match, so it has some potential. I'm guessing Dupree goes first, then RVD, and then Booker, and Cena retains. Prediction: Cena Undertaker vs. Dudleys I have no desire to see this match, at all. The whole gimmick is rediculous anyway. And the match will be bad, and I'd say probably worse than Taker against Big Show & A-Train from WMXIX (which wasn't even that bad). I think the "right thing" is for Taker to pour the cement himself into the crypt, so I figure Taker obeys Heyman and it ends up a no contest. Prediction: No Contest Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo How many times do these two have to fight? I'm sick of it. It can be a good match, I'm not up for seeing it again, though. Rey just won the belt, so I predict him to keep it. Prediction: Rey Mysterio Mordecai vs. Hardcore Holly Oh joy, I can't wait for this one. Mordecai wins because he's Mordecai. Besides, with threats like, "I'm gonna CRUCIFY you!" how can you not win? It's sad that Holly was in the main event of a major PPV a few months ago. Prediction: Mordecai Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Apparently, this was added on, because the world needed a decisive finish. Kenzo wins because he's Kenzo, who just debuted. This match should and will be awful. Prediction: Kenzo Torrie vs. Sable Torrie never jobs, so there. Prediction: Torrie Looks like a bad show, but probably better than Judgment Day. I won't be ordering though.
Guest nikowwf Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I predict the show will suck, but none of us will know because none of us will get it. I also predict the thread will be super short. Torrie vs. Sable in a regular match? what happened to 10 torturous segments of volleyball and such.... niko
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 yeah i wanted the beach volleyball segment where Paul London would do a 360 flip over the net.
MillenniumMan831 Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Why are Mordecai and Holly feuding anyway? Mordecai wants Holly to go to hell. Which is something alot of smarks have been telling Holly for years. Them be the words of truth. However, I think Holly will get the win and get beatdown afterwards.
Guest SoZe Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I will be "doing the right thing" and staying as far away from this show as humanly possible. And you should too.
Guest Choken One Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 On a sick level i want to see the 3-10 marks who go to the bar to see it....
Guest SoZe Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I really enjoyed Chavo v Rey from NWO this year, and felt that match FINALLY might cement the cruiser division in WWE. They had their solid, over with the fans heel, and the babyface that everyone wanted to see win the belt back. It looked as if they would get it together with a Mania and beyond title chase for Rey, with Chavo cheating like a bastard all the way to keep his belt until finally Rey wins it. But they fucked it up with the "destined to fail" cruiser open at Mania, and when the night after Rey had that AWESOME match with Eddie the night after, basically shut him out. The "uh, you're one of the most loved babyfaces on the roster, you already have a hot angle going with Chavo over the belt, but we can't seem to think of what to do with you, cause we're retarted" line was thrown to him, and RIP cruiser division. Chavo began some lame angle with his dad, and Rey got injured. Lately, Rey's knee problems have impaired him in the ring, slowling him down somewhat, so my optimism is'nt high that they'll equal the match at NWO. If they somehow do, I might pick up the DVD just for them. I love their chemistry together, but I just don't thinkthey'll have that same level of match this time. The 4-way could be kinda decent, it could also suck large amounts of ass.
Gert T Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 I wonder if Holly will sandbag the new guy in order to "teach" him....and then get dropped on his head again. Yeah, I am thinking Holly tries to pull a Paul Roma in this match.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Breaking news: Holly / Mordecai, Gunn / Suzuki, and Haas / Reigns have been confirmed by the GAB site to be on the PPV. At least Charlie was kept on the card. - Deon
