Charlie Haas vs. Horshu on PPV.

Is it me, or is Smackdown seriously on levels of WCW lowest point with PPV caliber matches like that?

Those aren't PPV caliber matches. They're barely qualified for Smackdown filler. Disagree? OK, then consider if any one or all of Holly/Mordecai, Gunn/Suzuki or Haas/Reigns were on a SD episode, would it be longer than five minutes? It's highly doubtful - hell, Gunn/Suzuki was just on Smackdown and it went under four.

That's one big problem with the one-brand PPVs. The other is that the bigger matches are done on free TV within a month of the PPV. At Judgment Day, the #2 match was Cena/Dupree. The following two Smackdowns both saw Cena and Dupree wrestle again. You can argue that it was the #3 match, and Taker/Booker was #2. Well, that one saw a free TV rematch as well. This Monday will see the rematch of the #2 match from Bad Blood.

They lay all their eggs in one basket with there being only one real reason to buy the single-brand PPVs, which goes against the company line of "something for everyone". Um, no, Bad Blood was only for those who were into the neverending HHH/HBK feud. Judgment Day was for the Hispanics who wanted to see JBL get his ass kicked for his racist remarks. They certainly can't expect more than 300,000 buys for a single-brand PPV with that strategy, and thus none have topped that mark since September. At this point, it's only die-hards, who watch each and every PPV without fail for whatever reason, that are watching these ones.

Was being sarcastic about the GAB undercard being PPV caliber, but you make a good point...although I did buy BBlood to see Benoit/Kane.

I haven't REALLY enjoyed a whole SD PPV since Vengeance last year. No Mercy was nothing special, NWO sucked until the main event, and Judgment Day had a good opener and main event sandwiching 2+ hours of crap.

Breaking news:

Holly / Mordecai, Gunn / Suzuki, and Haas / Reigns have been confirmed by the GAB site to be on the PPV. At least Charlie was kept on the card. :headbang:

- Deon

Deon and his "Sure, they're fodder, but they're on TV~!" mentality. I wish it could rub off on me.

I assume the opener for JD would be the tag match --- and not the rather bad Heat match.

Why is Haas fighting Luther Reigns?

How is this show expected to draw with only Guerrero, Undertaker and Cena to carry it? And they're not even fighting in the same match!

^ For absolutely no reason, CM. Just to wrestle for the heck of it. :S

I'm just happy Haas was kept on the PPV or if comes to worst, he'll pull Heat duty. How is he fodder? He's doing great for the past 2 months.

Bold Prediction: Sunday Night Heat match will be either Paul London or Billy Kidman vs. Shannon Moore or Jamie Noble. Maybe a tag match.

I don't see why they don't add a Cruiserweight Title No. 1 Contenders match after seeing the Battle Royale on Smackdown. You could easily put Nunzio/London or Noble/Kidman on the PPV (due to the circumstances in the Royale) and it's another sure fire good/great match, and could be the beginnings of the title being built back up to something meaningful.

As for GAB...

Eddie over JBL

Dupree over RVD, Booker, Cena

No Contest in the "Concrete Crypt" Match. Ugh.

Chavo over Rey

Mordecai over Holly

Suzuki over Gunn

Reigns over Haas

Torrie over Sable

Non-Title; Un-important Matches:

Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai

Billy Gunn vs. Kenzo Suzuki

Torrie Wilson vs. Sable

Charlie Haas vs. Luther Reigns

It looks like they added an episode of Velocity to fill the card...

So, anyone actually getting this PPV?

Looks like I'm getting together and splitting it with my brother and cousin (who's home from Iraq) and having some beers tonight.

I predict some form of competition will take place this day. I believe the ancient greeks called wrestling.

That is quite the glaring fault, how exactly do you go about fixing it though? you can only do so much with one roster.

Don't do brand-exclusive PPVs anymore. The concept simply is not working, all it has done is lower the number of buys and caused WWE to scramble last minute to find matches that can fill up the three hours. But if they insist on continuing to have them, perhaps actually trying to have more than one or two big drawing matches per PPV may help, but I don't think either roster is strong enough to do that.

Predictions:

The Heat match will be Mark Jindrak over Billy Kidman.

1) Rey d. Chavo in a great opener

2) Kenzo Suzuki d. Billy Gunn in a horrible match

3) Luther d. Charlie Haas in a okayish/bad match

4) Torrie d. Sable in a horrible match

5) Mordecai d. Hardore Holly in a horrible match

6) Booker T wins the US title in a decent match, Cena eliminated after Angle interference to set up Cena/Angle at Summerslam

7) Taker/Dudleys have a horrible match and Paul Bearer dies...I guess

8) Eddie d. JBL in a decent match, about as good as JD, maybe a little worse.

doesnt your cousin get it for free?

Thank you for that. I had no idea. We we're going to watch here, but wwe.com says..

Military personnel who order The Great American Bash Pay-Per-View will be reimbursed the retail price of $34.95 upon receipt of a copy of their cable or satellite television bill and proof of their military service.

So it looks like we have to watch it at his place. I tried calling the 800 number on wwe.com and, of course, it's out of order.

I think the "right thing" is for Taker to pour the cement himself into the crypt, so I figure Taker obeys Heyman and it ends up a no contest.

"Dammit Undertaker, pour that cement onto Paul Bearer... or I will pour cement onto Paul Bearer! You don't want to see me pour cement onto Bearer do you? No? Good, so pour cement over Paul Bearer and everything will be fine!"

Am I the only one that sees a small gap in your logic here?

Sorry if anyone else pointed this out, I'm in a hurry and wasn't planning on posting...
