Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Yep, first Lolla, now them. They had fairly unrealistic expectations of how the music world would embrace their return. Things have changed. Strays wasn't all that bad, nor was it a knockout. The indifference it caused musta suffocated the group's egos. T'was no Ritual de Habitual. Perry shoulda went back to being to his strung out, hippie orgy influenced lyrics. I blame Dave Navarro.
Guest ian. Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Their last album was somewhat of a let down to me, but I did enjoy it. Everyone had to know from the get go that they wouldnt touch their early stuff. Really, I'm surprised the reunion lasted this long.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Well yeah, nobody expected another Nothing's Shocking, but there's nothing wrong with Strays. Oh well. Another great band bites the dust. Again.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 25, 2004 So what's the official reason for the breakup now? source? And for that matter, can anyone refresh my memory as to why they broke up the first time as well?
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2004 I think the first one was the usual "creative differences" excuse, they just weren't meshing anymore. I was surprised they got back together in the first place, and I really enjoyed Strays for what it was, but it's not a shock that they're on the outs again. Really, what else is there for them to accomplish as a group? They'd obviously peaked already, not gonna top the early output, better off for them to go their seperate ways. Perry is happier in his own world, Dave is happier on MTV with Carmen and Perkins seems to prefer staying low key as a studio musician. It's too bad they couldn't have appeared on the Lollapalooza bill and put more effort into making that tour work. I also blame Navarro BTW.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2004 Plus, there's also the fact that there was supposed to be a several month long Jane's Addiction/Marilyn Manson/The Used tour back in January that was completly canceled without any real reason given.

Have you heard Perkins' band Banyon at all? Quality stuff there.
Guest PlatinumBoy Report post Posted June 29, 2004 Does anyone know when Jane's last shows were? I saw them around Xmas time and they seemed to get along great and were really good live. It was in Atlanta, and they played at the Fox--which was showing Nutcracker at the time, so they did their show in front of a snowy background, with fake snow falling and crazy gold, blue, and purple lights. Really cool show, Thursday opened for em' too.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 I thought it was a decent comeback attempt actually. Could have been bloody awful.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 They broke up the first time in 1991 because everyone was busy with other stuff...Perry was running Lollapalooza, Dave and Eric had a side project that they thought would go somewhere, but it all crapped out. After the Relapse Tour when they reformed around 1997, rumor has it that the reason why they broke up was because of drug and personal problems. Dave Navarro wrote an autobiography that documents everything from this period that still is yet to be released due to legal problems and such. I think they broke up this time because everyone else had outside commitments and wasn't making time for the band. I do see them coming back again though. I still remember, for some reason, the January 6th, 2004 date for the Manson/Jane's Addiction tour that got canceled. I don't believe they've played many shows since then. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 I was really looking forward to the Jane's/Manson/Used tour. All bands that I like, but the lineup was unbeliveable. They all attract a completely different crowd.
