CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Since it's in Canada, and arguably your three biggest faces right now are Canadian (Benoit, Jericho, Edge), they will get screwed over to put extra heat on Evolution. I'm thinking Edge and Benoit get screwed in their matches (handicap, whatever) and Jericho gets a good one-on-one match to take advantage of being in Winnipeg only to get slaughtered by Batista after the match with a chair. It'll be like the McMahon-Helmsley era all over again, except "Steph" is a lot less attractive.
Crimson G 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I'm gonna predict the return of a "legend" next week since Eugene is GM. Probably in a match with Randy Orton. Probably the Bushwackers.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 If I were booking Regal/Eugene, I wouldn't have HHH in Regals ear, but rather have Regal stand-by and watch Evolution manipulate Eugene. Evolution tells Regal "if you go against us, this will happen. But if you go along, you this would happen (title shot against Orton, title shot against HHH)". Regal stays not because of that, but because as long as he is by Eugenes side he can lessen the blow and make sure things are under control (this could come up when Benoit confronts Regal and asks "how can you let this happen, he's supposed to be your friend".) There is a certain loyalty in that which I'd find admirable. Again, I fucking _hate_ what they've done in the past week with the character. Eugene is playing an annoying retard rather than the sympathetic retard. Go back to Coach and Eugene and see how the crowd reacted to it, they want to get behind the character and right now there's nothing to get behind.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I dunno about that. ... Steph more attractive than Eugene? Hmm..
Guest CronoT Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Welcome to RAW is Eugene... where it's all Triple H all the time. ...and the difference between that and now is? (Someone had to say it )
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I also hate the fact that the Main Event on RAW was billed as "either Benoit or Kane will go on to face HHH". Fucking hell.
Guest CronoT Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I also hate the fact that the Main Event on RAW was billed as "either Benoit or Kane will go on to face HHH". Fucking hell. You actually expected Triple H's good, non-assholish "It's not all about me" attitude to actually stay? What planet are you from again?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I never thought that attitude was there in the first place.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 (edited) Or spray them with (oh what was it called) Rick Martels perfume. Arrogance... I'm in the "too much of a good thing" boat on Eugene. I liked the gimmick at first, and still do to a degree, and I understand that it's got a short shelf-life and they want to milk it for all it's worth, but making him the focus of the upper card and the world title picture (at the expense of Benoit no less) and putting him in 5 segments a night is just a bit too much for me at this point. I've noticed that his pops have been dwindling as well. A couple weeks ago he was getting massive, sustained reactions, now he gets an initial pop that dies by the time he's reached the ring. The crowd still pops for some of his retarded quotes and in-ring actions, but it isn't a good trend........ That said, I do like where they're going with HHH bringing out the dark side of his character and Regal being the sympathetic face who the audience recognizes as having Eugene's best interests in mind. This plotline could be GREAT if they book it right, and the Regal-HHH match on RAW was brilliant character development all around. My personal preference is that after HHH ditches Eugene they turn him into an alienated tortured soul who refuses to trust anyone because he feel betrayed by everyone he trusted (Regal, Bischoff, HHH, Benoit), kind of like an early Mankind type character. I see a TON of milage in a character of that sort and after Dinsmore's loco performance on Monday I think he can pull it off. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 The thing about Eugene is that his gimmick is ok as long as it does not take a center stage. Think Hurricane. It was a nice fun gimmick, but imagine trying to get him over as credible while holding onto the Hurricane gimmick. Sure, the fans WANT to get behind Eugene, but none of them believe that he will actually do anything significant, and sooner then later people will get bored with his "retarded" antics. Also, how long can they keep up the, "Eugene suprises everyone and wrestles well" crap? I mean, after his first match you'd think everyone in the back would know to proceed with caution when wrestling Eugene, yet everyone comes out with the, "this out to be a breeze" attitude. Lame. Unless Dinsmore drops the Eugene gimmick and SOON. He is gonna be typecasted and his WWE career in about 3 months will consist of jobbing to new monsters that Vince and Co. bring in on a monthly basis. Guest Repo Man Reborn Report post Posted July 1, 2004 This gimmick was doomed the moment Eugene announced his favorite wrestler was Triple H. The gimmick had just begun to catch on and when somebody gets a pop on RAW, their next direction in predictable. "Go directly into a program with Triple H, do not pass go, do not collect $200"
notJames 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Truer words were never written. I too see this ending with HHH on top as usual, and Eugene being cast off into the lower mid-card by SurSer.

griffinmills 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 THIS is too much of a good thing. What a reatrded gym bag. Oh holy crap that made me laugh inapropriately at work! HEH. I'm loving the Eugene stuff but I'm not holding out for a happy ending which is slowly killing it for me. At least it seems to be a somewhat planned out story.
