Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Hate to be a nitpicker, but technically one of the Bashams is a veteran, Doug's been wrestling since around '91. Yep, Doug Basham used to wrestle in USWA... he's certainly paid his dues. I think Danny (Damaja) has been wrestling since around 95 or 96 (same with Dinsmore and Conway). Doug started around 91-92, then Dinsmore started in 96, Rob Conway in 97 and Danny Basham in 98. They make up the four OVW originals, back from before they were just an independant called OVCW. As for the guys being brought up now, a lot of guys have been brought up when they weren't ready, but at least they seem to be taking their time with the next generation. Chris Cage has potential (as shown by his fine performance in the 03 Super 8) as does Johnny Jeter. The sad thing is though since both guys are only like 5'11-6' and about 210lbs, unless they start roiding up, I don't they'll feature on TV any time soon. Kardo 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Doug is really good on the microphone and incredible in the ring. But when I saw him in a tag match with "Danny Basham" he sucked. WWE style cripples everyone.
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 I've seen tapes of Dinsmore,Doug Basham and Conway in OVW, I got to tell you these guys are very good wrestlers the thing is WWE style limits their moveset.
Guest JohnnySwift Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Here's another entry in the long list of complaints on Smackdown, taken from 411 Wrestling Gunn, Holly Extremely Unhappy With WWE Posted By Ashish on 07.02.04 Could Gunn be planning a jump to TNA? Word backstage is that Billy Gunn and Bob Holly are the two most disgruntled guys in the Smackdown locker room right now. Both guys are upset because they feel they have "paid their dues" and deserve bigger pushes than what they are getting. Management is also upset with them because they feel that the two did not do everything they could to make Kenzo Suzuki and Mordecai look good at the Great American Bash PPV. Gunn was recently backstage at the TNA Impact! taping and while he acted like he was only there to visit friends, many suspect he could be considering going to the promotion. TNA may look even more attractive to Gunn now that they are likely to be based out of Orlando and tape both their PPVs and Impact! there. Gunn likes in Orlando. This shouldn't be a shock

Feeling that the two cannot "work for shit" the fans are upset with their excessive pushes and feel they deserve no more airtime. Management, however, is said to be happy with the two for having "marketable looks." The veterans are expected to help keep young wrestlers down and the feeling is that both Holly and Gunn did their job on that front.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2004 If you can call Tracy McGrady a veteran, Chuck Palumbo is also a veteran. And the last few call ups from OVW have sucked. If the last few players to come from Duke have sucked you cant say "What do you mean Duke isnt getting the job done. They gave use Grant Hill, and (name other duke players from 15 years ago here". notJames, K-Kwik went to TNA and became a star and Im sure everyone on this board laughed at him when he first came out with Road Dogg rapping and called him a jobber that wouldnt get past the 2nd match slot on Shotgun. Same with D'Lo and Crash Holly. Whats stopping Gunn from doing the same thing?

Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Is Luther Reigns really WCWSN mainstay Horshu? Yep, he took a few years off after his brief time in WCW, then he started in UPW about 3 or 4 years ago and he was on his way.
