Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Although yahoo doesn't actually say it yet, Keeper League teams ranked 1-7 have offical playoff spots (which those are have not been finalized till Week 14). Teams ranked 7-12 will battle for the final playoff spot. So to those people who have playoff spots 1-7, please congradulate yourselves on a juob well done. Teams 7-12 will play a consolation playoff.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 I think you may want to check that one again, Flik. Playoffs: Week 15, 16 and 17 (8 teams) Anyway, after a bit of thought, consideration, blah blah blah.... I will be keeping the three that were talked about, on the previous page. Keepers: Daunte Culpepper, Alge Crumpler, Larry Fitzgerald.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 I think you may want to check that one again, Flik. Blunder on the consolation thing. Big deal. Teams that end the season ranked 1-8 will proceed to the real playoffs, teams that end the season rankded 9-16 will proceed to the consolation playoffs. Is that better? Still doesn't change the fact that teams currently ranked 1 to 7 have a playoff spot (although which spot is still up for grabs). Oh and Agent. If you are only taking three keepers you need to select three people whom you are giving up for Madness picks. As described below: Oh any Keepers/Madness Drops must be on the team from before Week 10 (so from Week 9 to start date). So yeah, if you pick up someone to circumvent having to give up an awesome player or you find a great player just for you playoff push, you can't have them. This is only for FA and WW. Trades are still ok. Since I've been asked how exactly the Madness/Keeper idea works, I thought I'd demonstrate how it'll work using my own team. And yes, this is what I've decided to do already. Players on Injuried Reserve can not be used for Madness Picks. They can only be kept. I'm only selecting 3 Keepers. I must therefore give up the drafting rights of 3 players (both drafts). So the six players I'm putting up: Joey Harrington, Quarterback, Detroit Lions Ashley Lelie, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos Curtis Martin, Running Back, New York Jets Reuben Droughns, Running Back, Denver Broncos L. J. Smith, Tight End, Philadelphia Eagles Justin McCareins, Wide Receiver, New York Jets. Keepers: Lelie, Martin, Droughns Madness: Harrington, Smith, McCareins Because I've stated these guys, I can not for any circumstances put them on waivers. If I do, any Madness Picks earned will end up in at the end of the regular draft. Meaning the picks become absolutely useless.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2004 Oh and Agent. If you are only taking three keepers you need to select three people whom you are giving up for Madness picks. As described below: Sorry about that... My picks for that: Faulk, Keyshawn, Moss
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 No worries. I'd like to re-iteriate that I need Keepers by Saturday, December 18th, 2004. If I do not, your team will be forfeit for next year to be claimed by someone else. Managers Still To Send Keepers/Madness: Michaels Mark Darkside Dominators Gridiron Lunatics Gibbs Disciples The Major Shakes Pawtucket Patriots Just a thought: I'm thinking of doing taking out two rounds from the regular draft and using them to do a minor rookie draft if people are interested. About the only thing I've got for rules is that it would probably be right after the NFL Rookie draft, but before our regular draft. Also these two rounds would affect the regular draft by shrinking it by two. Its something to think about, not being implimented unless people think its a good idea. Also congrats to The Major Shakes on winning his first game and not becoming the first team to go winless in TSM Fantasy Football History.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 I'm all for the rookie draft idea *thumbs up...then grabs Cedric Benson* I also think we should designate automatic keeper slots(along with the original 6 max.) so that we can keep them for say a maximum of 3 years. This way, if a rookie doesn't pan out by then the owner can cut them or trade them to an owner who thinks he may still have value.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 A rookie draft could be interesting, but were there 16 rookies(who could be useful in fantasy football) that have made some sort of impact this year? Offhand I can think of Kevin Jones, Roy Williams, Ben Roethlisberger, and Michael Clayton as well as guys who played late in the year like Eli Manning and Julius Jones. It's an interesting idea in theory, I am just not sure if it would work in practice.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 But if the guy you draft doesn't pan out, you can always go after someone on waivers. *shrugs* Its just a thought anyways. Someone might find some way of making it work.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 It works for me. My three positions of need in the draft appear to be a backup RB, a backup QB, and a third wide receiver. I figure I should be able to fill one of the three among the guys in the rookie draft. BTW, how many bench spots will there be next year? From the sounds of it, there is only going to be 2. I am just wondering.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Maybe a one-round rookie draft, then?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 (edited) The four benches from this year will remain for next. Also the WR/TE position will just become a WR position. Edited December 10, 2004 by Lightning Flik

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Wart, your team will be whatever you wish to name it for next year. So don't worry, you weren't on the list of people I'm still waiting on keepers.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 It appears that the matchups are set (just left to find out who faces Randy Orton) in the Yahoo league. #1 Randy Orton vs. #8 AgentBond/Michaels Mark (If Chris Brown scores 18 it is MM, if not it is AB) #2 Serenity vs. #7 Crimson Storm #3 Foreign Objects vs. #6 Injuried Prone DTD (Gotham scored enough to leapfrog IP DTD, blessing in disguise however to face the Holmesless Foreign Objects as opposed to the hottest team in the league right now in Paper Tigers) #4 Paper Tigers vs. #5 Gotham Harlequins (as previously stated, tough luck for Gotham winning themselves into a tougher game)
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 Oh bloody hell! I'm officially fucked now...blargh. How the hell am I supposed to beat a guy who has Brees, Holt, Moss, KJ(who I ironically traded to him...), JJ, and T.J.! *looks at his roster* I have a very slim chance...sorta. SA faces the Jets and Pittman faces the Aints D. Kinney/Bennett both face the Raiders D and Kennison/TG face Denver. Jaguars do face GB though...damnit. razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 I fear Paper Tigers and glad that I moved down. The running Jones brothers of the Tigers scare me.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 Ok. I'd like to announce that as soon as December 18th is over, Keepers will have been finalized and not open for change. Also, if you haven't submitted Keepers, your team is then forfeit for someone else to pick up. So please will these teams send me their Keepers: Michaels Mark Darkside Dominators Gridiron Lunatics Gibbs Disciples The Major Shakes Pawtucket Patriots
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2004 Tough break for Michaels Mark coming up 4 points short of the 8th playoff spot. Was well on his way to it when Brown had to leave the game.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2004 You might be catching me during the right week. I have Peyton Manning and the Baltimore defense. So one of those will affect the other, costing me some points. And I am scared to death of Westbrook this week. There is no way I am benching him on the streak he is on, but if Atlanta loses on Saturday (completely possible) then Phi/Dallas becomes meaningless and players might start to get rolled back. And to make matters worse my third back is Goings, who is going to be in the deciding game, so I won't be able to replace Westbrook in my lineup if Atlanta loses. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2004 No, no. You had it right mostly. It's just sacrificing and Madness are the one and the same. I must've made an error with how it was said. No biggy.
jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2004 The playoffs came at the worst possible time for my team (Foreign Objects). Priest has been out for the past several weeks and is out the rest of the year. My temporary fill ins of Larry Croom, Lamont Jordan, and Arlen Harris are all not going to start this week because they were only in for injured starters. This week I'm most likely going to end up starting BJ Sams and hope for some big kick/punt return yards since he's averaging about 100 a game. Brandon Stokely and David Givens both came in as Questionable at the same time, and I'm not quite sure who to pick up to play that hole. The top 3 scorers there are 2 receivers listed as Questionable and another kick return specialist. Starting 2 kick returners doesn't seem like such a good idea to me. Hopefully someone else gets injured during practice so I can grab their backup.

jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2004 Wow, I've already officially lost pretty much. My only hopes now are to not have the league low for points in a game.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2004 Hey Foreign Objects, I'm in the same boat. I have Ruben Droughns and Tatum Bell started. Lelie has done nothing and the Pittsburgh's defense only put up 4.25 points. So congrats to Serenity for knocking me out of the playoffs. BTW deadline for handing in Keepers or changing them passed yesterday. Hence I do have a couple of teams that are up for grabs as I received no keepers from them. I will post up stuffy concerning all this.
