Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I was just watching Raw from Monday that I taped yesterday, and I noticed JR and King mentioning Rhyno finding different partners to go after La Resistance with to try and win the tag belts. I was thinking this would be a good idea. Have Rhyno keep having different partners every week, and then eventually have him team with someone like Tajiri and finally beat La Rez on some Raw. Rhyno and Tajiri could then be the face tag champs for Raw that the fans can get behind while feuding with La Resistance, possibly leading to a match at Summerslam or something. Do you think they'll continue this, or just let Eugene and Flair win the belts?
Aero 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I was thinking during the match on Raw that after losing with Val, La Rez would give Rhyno one more chance at Vengeance, where he would team with Tajiri and win. But, then in the next segment, they made La Rez vs. Eugene & Flair. I can't see them switching the tag belts to a comedy team when for the first time in a long time, La Rez actually seem to have credibility. Maybe it'll be Rhyno & Tajiri teaming at Summerslam. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I had the idea Monday that it would be great if they would bring in Mikey Whipwreck, but then I remembered that it's 2004. I thought Mikey retired? Anyway, I wouldn't put it past them to give the belts to Flair and Eugene. The belts seem to be treated like a comedy act most of the time anyway so I wouldn't put it past them to give it to them so they can have cheap laughs. I think Tijaria and Rhyno should win them just so they can have another cool tag team on RAW. Heck, I don't understand why they don't use all the guys who barely work or who aren't ready for singles in tag teams to build that division and possibly build stars. The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Rhyno/Tajiri would be a pretty good team, power and speed is always fun to work with, and seeing a guy come out of the Tarantula and get Gored = OUCH.
Guest SoZe Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Funny you should mention Tajiri as a partner for Rhyno, as house show reports over the weekend saw them taking on La Rez, in what was said to be a decent match. I think this may end up happening, and although they may not be the next incarnation of the Bulldogs or Hart Foundation, Rhyno and Tajiri could end up being a decent combo. Seeing as how neither is really being used much, and the TOTAL wasteland that is tag team wrestling in WWE, they could do worse.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Tajiri can make almost anybody looks good and plays a good FIP while Rhyno backs up the power end of the team. What I like about the team is that they're both kinda loco in the cabeza so working a badass-face style would be nice for them.

And Mikey's been in and out of retirement...like everyone else who retires. At least they're trying to use Rhyno on tv. He's too good to waste on the weekend shows. Although he's far from his monster character he was in 2000-2001
Garth 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I loved Rhyno during his initial WWE run, still am rather partial to him now, he just seems to of lost his edge now he has to throw in all the rest holds and his intesity isn't the same. He's still damn good and I would love for them to actually do something with him and give him a push. He seems to me to be pretty over anyway, by giving him a run with the tag titles and putting a bit more focus on him again, he could easily be built up to an IC contender IMO. Guest Staravenger Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Didn't they do the EXACT same thing with the Hurricane last year? I remember every week he'd have a new partner vs. La Rez Version 1.0, including Sgt. Slaughter I think.

My wish (especially at last Summerslam, when they were both in the US Title 4 way) is that someone gets gored WHILE in the Tarantula. That actually happened in this years Rumble match. Tajiri had Mark Henry in the tarantula, and Rhyno Gored Henry, but Tajiri got eliminated.

Hopefully the WWE goes this route, teaming these two up. It'd make for some good matches, and there's really not any babyface teams on Raw now, besides HurriSHIT... Honestly, that's another reason to put these two together. They have a ready-made double team finisher. Anyway, I like this team. Maybe they should team Val with someone permantley too, though, he's really great.
Australian Pride 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Maybe they should team Val with someone permantley too, though, he's really great. If Test was healthy i'd say put him and Val together. They could call themselves the Testicle Pornstars or something.
Aero 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 I remember in one of the old WWF magazines, in either New Year Predictions or one of the Informer's columns, a Val-Test team was predicted. It said the team was going to be called the "Canadian Mafia" or something.

Then Rosey became Hurricane's sidekick by... uh... kicking Hurricane's ass, then deciding that he hated Teddy Long and Rodney Mack and becoming the sidekick of the man he beat. Yeah. Guest Soylent Green Is People Report post Posted July 8, 2004 There's certainly worse things they could do than a Tajiri/Rhyno team. Gives both men something to do and adds what should be a pretty decent team to the WWE's horrid tag division, it's about time they create some more actual teams. Crimson G 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 I don't see why Rhyno would give up on Val Venis. Val was kicking the frenchies' asses monday, then Rhyno's stupid ass got tripped up and crotched on the ringpost. Then, he ran into the post later on. WTF? How is it Val's fault that he got double teamed because you were unconscious on the outside? If anything, Val should dump Rhyno (and join La Resistance(?)). The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 putting Val with La Rez would be good if he once again dropped the Venis name and went with his real one. He would get UBER heel heat from it too.

griffinmills 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Yeah, because what the WWE needs now is another anti-American foriegner... While I'm not certain he would get uber heel heat I do think the idea merits more than a sarcastic passive agressive blaise answer like this. I've always wished Val would wear flesh colored tights and that purple helmet from his intro to the ring. Rhyno and Tajiri is good, what about Val and Tajiri? Or would Val still be gun shy of Japanese partners after old "choppy choppy"? It seems so weird that he is still "Val Venis the porn star wrestler" after all this time... Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 I'm pretty sure Rhyno and Tajiri tagged in ECW once or twice, so that gives them a little bit of expericane as a team. Plus it would add something new to the Raw tag divison which is really ready to die off, but I wouldn't be surprised if Eugene and Flair win the tag titles this Sunday so the whole thing of Tajiri/Rhyno vs La Rez will most likely not happen. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 The job repeatedly to La Res with new partners didn't work for Hurricane, and I don't think it's going to work for Rhyno either. The thing is that the tag division is not the women's division. They can't just throw jobbers in there, make them champs out of nowhere, and expect the crowd to react well. After La Res beat Benoit and Edge clean, they got some serious rub, and some serious credibility on Raw. Now, they can't just end their reign against someone who hasn't won a tag match on Raw. What they really need to do is have some tag matches on Raw that don't feature the champs, and let teams actually earn their title shots. That way, a team can get over enough to actually earn the belts before they win them. If they can't build an actual tag division, the least they could do is accentuate the stables a little bit. If I were booking the tag division, I'd make a defined stable that enforces for Bischoff. A-Train would be perfect in the role, and he could team with Cade every now and then, if Cade's even still associated with Bischoff storyline-wise. Then, when they get a tag team they want to build up like Rhyno and Tajiri, they could beat A-Train and Cade, (with Cade taking the fall) then maybe Flair and Batista or Flair and Eugene (with Flair taking the fall), before actually earning their shot at the titles. If they did a storyline where they tell Rhyno he's not getting another shot at the tag titles, and he not only gets new partners, but actually has to battle his way through the ranks a little bit, it might make it actually mean something when they win the titles. Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Now thats a good idea and all but when was the last time we've seen an actual regular tag match when it was just a match and the two teams wasn't in a #1 contenders match or in some sort of feud with one another? Same goes with single matches unless your watching Heat or Velocity but no one really gets a title shot on those shows, plus when was the last time a title change even happen on Heat or Velocity? WWE has completely gone away with that "moving up the ladder" thing and just go for #1 contenders matches for certain titles.

This is the oldest gimmick in the book, and it's been done with just about every nationality, to the point where I can't even care. It pumps up the live crowd, but I honestly don't think that people spend money on tickets or PPVs, or tune into the TV shows because they want to see those "French-Canadian" bastards get it. Maybe I could have candy coated what I was getting at to protect this guy's feelings, but I stand by my intention. I mean, really, can you think of any other place for them to go with this tired gimmick?

Guest Repo Man Reborn Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Yeah, I agree and the whole "looking for a tag team partner" angle was done in the past by wrestlers like The Hurricane and he ended up taking on Rosey, the SuperHero In Training.
