RavishingRickRudo Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 http://spotlight.wwe.com/ He is the master of the Crossface Crippler...
J.B. Buzzkill Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 "Vote for his most punishing move" And they don't even mention his powerbomb? B.S.
RavishingRickRudo Posted July 10, 2004 Author Report Posted July 10, 2004 The rest, as they say, is history. Since entering WWE in January of 2000, Benoit has once again regained the fire that once burned inside a wide-eyed teenager from Edmonton. Again, professional wrestling defines who Chris Benoit is. And without it, there is no Chris Benoit as we know him. Needless to say, the move to WWE was a wise one for Benoit. However, if you asked him if he thought he was making the right move just prior to his debut, he would admit that he was nervous. He would also tell you that he feared the possibility of politics running WWE’s locker room as it did WCW’s. This got a smirk outta me.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 "Vote for his most punishing move" And they don't even mention his powerbomb? B.S. Wait! The WWE has a Chris Benoit website! Shouldn't you guys just be a little bit more happy about it.
Guest Wondermouse Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I love Benoit, but I've never seen a shittier sharpshooter. He used to be able to do one, but now it's... ugly.
David Blazenwing Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I love Benoit, but I've never seen a shittier sharpshooter. He used to be able to do one, but now it's... ugly. Still better than The Rock's.

Hektik Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Benoit does it the way it should be done. It is more of the wrestlers not taking it correctly. Benoit just doesn't pull back as much so it will be easier on his opponets. Now the Rock couldn't even cross the legs correctly.
Guest Wondermouse Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Maybe WWE is mandating the shitty sharpshooters? God, I don't know, but it seems like, if it's the person taking it, then everyone's taking it wrong and in the same way.

God, I don't know, but it seems like, if it's the person taking it, then everyone's taking it wrong and in the same way. Kind of like how WWE won't let Jericho use the Liontamer anymore, yet they'll let Kliq member HBK use it whenever he wants to?

Kind of like how WWE won't let Jericho use the Liontamer anymore, yet they'll let Kliq member HBK use it whenever he wants to? Well... I didn't mind HBK pulling it out, mostly because Benoit can take it better than a guy like Triple H, and also because Benoit used to do that move in Japan (it's fun watching him do it to Jericho..)
Lord of The Curry Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Nobody should be ripping on Benoit's sharpshooter considering the abortion of a move that is The Rocks version. I was watching Rock vs Austin from Mania 17 and Rock puts in on Austin and then proceeds to maintain the move by holding onto one of Austins kneepads. Oh, and Crossface Crippler is golden.
J.B. Buzzkill Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I don't see anything wrong with Benoit's Sharpshooter...
Black Lushus Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't Jericho used to place his knee in his opponent's back/back of the head while doing the Liontamer? the way it is right now it's just a boston crab...correct?
Black Lushus Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 why di dhe stop doing that, seems kind of lame that he doesn't do it anymore...
Guest bigm350 Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 why di dhe stop doing that, seems kind of lame that he doesn't do it anymore... Probably because alot of the roided up wrestlers aren't flexible enough to take that move correctly.
Art Sandusky Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Is WWE still doing the "spot errors in our website and win stuff" promotion? That might explain blatantly getting the finisher for their World Heavyweight Champion wrong.
RavishingRickRudo Posted July 10, 2004 Author Report Posted July 10, 2004 No, the "spot the errors in our website" is just to cover for fuck ups where people will think its intentional when really they're incompetent. ...And I could shit out a better Bio.

I think Benoit invented the Liontamer and started letting Jericho use it when he got into WCW. Which is weird, considering Dean Malenko invented the Crippler Crossface...
MillenniumMan831 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I figured the 2K versions of the Sharpshooters and 'Liontamers' were done to make it easier for the opponents to crawl to the ropes.

That's my theory on the Sharpshooter, but not the Liontamer. Especially since the Walls is counter 3/4ths of the time anyway.

From what I understand, Jericho's language during the J-Cups would make Richard Pryor blush.
Guest Wondermouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 When he was in a backbreaker hold over Benoit's knee, he was yelling "Ahhh fuck!" Made the match just that much better.
Guest wildpegasus Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 The WWE loves wrestlers crawling to the ropes when in submission moves. To allow someone to crawl to the ropes with the sharpshooter on you can't stay still and sink the hold in otherwise the opponent would take years to be able to get to the ropes -- that if he could move in the first place. You have to walk with him and doing a two man walking sharpshooter to the ropes is different than just cinching one in the middle of the ring and sitting down on it. Also keep in mind that there aren't too many wrestlers that take submission moves where you just cinch in the move. You have to keep it loose in the current WWE atmosphere unless of course you're Chris Benoit taking a submission move. Than someone can sink it in.

Yeah, that happened in their J-Cup match from 1995. I thought it was great to see him use the Liontamer on Jericho, it surprised me. So did Jericho actually use that move himself in those days or what?
