They don't have respect for the character because there considering Jack Black......right.

I'm hoping this movie completely shits on the comic now just to see all the fan boys "outraged".

Why would you want to see people who enjoy the character "outraged"? What's the point?

Seeing people bitch about things they have a choice on is good entertainment.

If you don't have respect for an existing character, then you should not make a movie about said character. That's just common sense. Clearly, the WB doesn't respect the character if they're considering casting Jack Black.

This is obviously true. The only thing Time Warner/AOL cares about is the $$$$. Which is why Nelly's point of not seeing the movie is valid.

The problem with the movie being made, though, is that the character portrayed in the movie will overtake that of the character in the comic books. Think about it. There are people who still think that Tim Burton's vision of Batman is horrible, because Adam West is Batman in their eyes. Proof of this is "Batman & Robin" which was basically a 90's version of the TV show. People who don't read comics will forever remember Green Lantern as Jack Black, and not as the comic book character. So whenever someone says, "Dude, Green Lantern is awesome" the person they'll talk to will say "You mean that movie Jack Black was in? Yeah it was...." That's why "fanboys" are outraged. I'd rather not have the movie than have to deal with that.

Wait, from your previous responses you seem to NOT want people to complain about this potential movie. Now you say you enjoy watching them complain? That doesn't make much sense.

I don't care if they complain or not, I was just pointing out why one shouldn't. If you feel the need to complain, go ahead, all I can do now is laugh about it.

Not if it's nearly as bad as you guys are expecting.

Wouldn't it be better to just ignore it? I mean, you don't seem to care about Green Lantern one way or the other. Obviously, the people who do care about the character are going to (rightfully) complain. That's the nature of a fan.

Actually, if it's a bad as we're expecting it will be worse. I'm a huge Batman mark, and telling people Batman is a serious character can be quite the chore sometimes, thanks to Adam West and Burt Ward.

I think George Clooney, Chris O'Donell, Alica Silverstone, Gov Arnold did more damage. Joel Schoemacher's remake of the 60's tv show was BAM! POW! BOOM! LAME! BOMB!

But that comes as a result of the 60's TV show. TV show leads to Shumacher's movie, which places it in the same category. You have to explain why the 4th movie was bad, which leads to discussions of why the TV show was bad.....

Does that make sense?
