Hold on just one god damn second....

There making another police academy!?!

Yup... one morning I checked the headlines at CNN.com, and to the right where the top news stories of the hour are listed, I saw 6 or 7 headlines dealing with Iraq, Israel, Scott Peterson, John Kerry, 9/11 Commission... and the final headline... "another police academy in the works" which was topped the next day by a repeat of headlines followed by "principal calls student 'stupid dirty girl'" which I literally had to fight myself from spitting my morning coffee on the screen

Wow, Guttenberg's busy calendar is empty enough to allow another Police Academy?

Why can't newsites just admit "Kids, there isn't shit happening today. Sorry"?

-=Mike

...Who'd mark the hell out if that ever was printed...

"That will be judgment day. I want you to go to the polls…. You are the terminators, yes!"

This seals it. Governor Arnold is the dorkiest man alive.

Did Arnold unleash an evil laugh after that?

He needs to throw in "Talk to the Hauhnd."

Just give California what it really deserves--its own state parliamentary system.

Actually California deserves to crack off into the ocean with all the stupidity that surrounds this wretched state.

Then again, what do I know, I voted for Larry Flynt during the recall election.

I would have voted for Flynt had I been able to register in time for the election. And trust me, you may hate California, but it's a hell of a lot better than most of the US at any rate.

I would tend to agree. Most folks I know that transplanted OUT of CA, have said CA was much better, but then again, everyone basis their opinion for different reasons.

I think it's crazy that some people are calling Arnold a "homophobe" just because he used the phrase "girly-men." If you remember back before he was elected governor, he was actually criticized for his supportive stance on homosexuality. He was even called a RINO (Republican In Name Only) by certain religious wackos. Just because he wants to keep marriage between a man and a woman does not make him a homophobe, IMO. Personally, I don't have a problem with gays marrying, but I can understand where Arnold is coming from.

Simply put: Rick Santorum is a homophobe, Arnold isn't.

I agree with what JMA just said, but I do think if he's going to constantly go to voters when encountering gridlock, he's got to be honest. The "girlie-men" remark was made out of humor and a reference to an old SNL sketch, but he shouldn't have to be telling us about Terminators and pulling choice lines out of his film career now that he's elected. All this does is confuse the issue and make him look like a cartoon character instead of a Governor.

I'm a pretty politically-aware person. And right now I know that these guys are holding up the budget, but over what? Arnold isn't saying, or if he is the message is lost behind Hanz & Franz and movie quotes. The normal people, the casual crowd who pays more attention to the Laci Peterson trial than the state budget, is going to know even less.

I am just not sure why Arnold thought that rant would encorage democrats to come back to the negotiating table for the budget. I mean it was almost if Arnold hoped californians would hear his comment, and just think to themselves, "hey yeah, Democrats are girly-men" I also think it is ludicrous to try to paint a picture that only one side is giving in to special interests.

Arnold's scenario:

Arnold: "........then they are girly-men"

Democrats: "oh no, we better get back there and work out this budget, or californians are going to think we're girly-men"

The issue to me is not at all whether the comment was "offensive" or not, which I don't feel it was, rather the comment and tone of the entire speech was just stupid, and dumb politics at a time where Arnold is supposedly "working with both sides"

I think the fact that these people are in an uproar about being called "girlie-men" proves that they are indeed girlie-men.

Who's to say that Arnie wasn't talking about the Kings anyway? Maybe when the Heat play in Sacramento this season have Shaq do another 'Sacramento Queens' bit to clarify.:D

You know out of all the things I never thought I think Arnold would ever use, would be what his two retarted cousins Hans and Frans constantly used. Man I just find this funny that Arnold actually use a phrase I thought was more of a satrical thing directed to his persona.

But I am not too offended by this. I think it was meant to indicate that many legislators that are stalling on the budget are not making a strong enough effort to get this one pass on time. Arnold so for has done a much better job than I thought he was capable of. And maybe it is becuase he has tended to stay in the central, conservative on some ideas, liberal on the others. This to me as good thing becuase you can see both sides of the story, and make decisions that have a more bipartisan feel to them. I just think that we need the budget passed, as one of the Props that we voted on passed, saying there must be a budget on time. And I do believe Arnold is trying to get a more middle ground here, but might have suffered his first frustration of partisan politics. And so he blurted out the "Girlie Man" refrence, and some have their panties in a bunch. I actually would have flown Hans and Frans in just to see all three of them refer to the some lawmakers as "Girlie Men", now that would be humor in the highlest level.

But I do admit I am not too well versed in this matter, I am a Democrat (but one who will vote for the best candidate regardless of political party) and I do get frustrated when partisan lines help slow down achieving the goals of the people you are representative. And being Arnold has show that his policies are good mix of Conservatism and Liberalism, I do think the California Senate needs to make a more more stronger effort to compromise and get ourselves a budget, which might not make everyone happy, but will do it's best to help California turn it around in many areas that need help. And some who were offended, grow a tougher skin, a girly man is a week man who has no cajones and will go along with the crowd, due to them not being strong enough to think for your self. I doubt that this was refering to homosexual behavoir, but more as Arnold envoking "Pumping Iron" aura.

One last thing, I missed out voiting in the recall election last year. I would have voted no on recall, but picked Ahnold in the the part where you still could pick who you wanted to vote for. I had liked him due to his centralist views and that he was open to embracing liberal ideas for many issues that normally not supported by Conservatives. So I definately had no problem with him winning, even though I though Davis did suffer from energy companies munipulating the market to rip billions from California, which is why we have a huge deficit. And this would have been blamed on the Govenor regardless of Affiliation, so Davis was in charge when this happened, so the Govenor ended up taking the blame.

And so the recall did make the ballot, much spearheaded by very conservative men, which I am sure was just salivating at the thought of using this to become then new Govenor. Well a funny thing happen, Arnold decided to enter the race, and in one fatal swoop, all the Neo-Cons who running all of sudden saw their party jump support right to Arnold, including many Democrats as well. And any hopes of the Neo Cons winning was flushed down the toilet. The best part was watching the man who had organized and finance the recall drive (who I am thinking really did think he was going to ride that to victory), got badly beaten in the primaries and basically cried while he dropped from the race. One of the more satisfying things to witness that year. As they say, be carefull what you wish for, you might just get.

So we have the Terminator in office. And he is not as bad as was predicted. Over 60% voted him in, which mean he won with no controversy with the will of the people. And despite no lack of experience, he is doing a good job. He has had some learning curve to do, but it's nice to have a govenor who has a personality, unlike Davis, and one who is having fun with his job. Just an early observation, but I can dig the Democrats or Republicans who are not too extreme to one side of the politcal spcetrum. It is always better to be able to see the other side of the coin, with out putting it down before it lands.

And all those insulted by the comment, grow a spine. It really was not that big a deal, nor really offensive. Don't let this you dwell to the point you can't get anything done. I am a moderate liberal, but even I can't stand political correctness, especially when this delays things getting done. I am liberal who wants people to speak what they feel, even if I think it is wrong or even offensive. So when you get referred as "Girlie Man" be thankfull he didn't call you a bunch of P#@!@@s. And get that budget passed. And may Arnold continue to do a good job. Hey sometimes those who are new the elected official thing, can do the job regardless of experience, in some cases. And Arnold has done this IMO.

maybe the Democrats just don't want to agree to a budget that calls for California to borrow another 15 billion dollars which will in turn put us further in debt and have the next generation pay for it. Rather, how about closing some tax loopholes and collect the money from the corporations that owe their fair share. But then again, that would be very un-republican of Arnie.
