Big big big big big changes for 24 Season 4

Recommended Posts

Virtually all of the 24 cast have been axed as part of a major overhaul of the show, it has been confirmed.

Only Kiefer Sutherland will be back to reprise his role as Jack Bauer in season four, premiering January 2005 in the States.

The news means that James Badge Dale (Chase), Elisha Cuthbert (Kim), Carlos Bernard (Tony), Reiko Aylesworth (Michelle) and even Dennis Haysbert (David Palmer) will all be given at best just a few appearances in the new season.

Speaking at the TCA's summer press tour, executive producer Joel Surnow confirmed that the only other returning actor will be Geoff Pierson, who played Palmer's Republican rival John Keeler in season three. Come season four, Keeler will have taken over from Palmer as President.

Surnow also revealed that Jack will no longer be working for CTU.

Were there any reasons given (like contract disputes or something) for not bringing everyone back or did they just sit down and decide "Hey, we need a complete change"?

Well, we already knew that it would only be Kiefer back from the original cast. I suppose that Keeler will be an adversarial authority figure.

Hah, Geoff Pierson for President.

Mr. Floppy would be proud.

I saw the article in this weeks TV Guide. They had a photo with most of the cast blurred out except for Jack.

Considering they have until like October (probably) to start shooting for the January premiere, I think theres a lot of time to work on making it as good as the previous 3. One of the big things that needs to be done is to get the location out of L.A. Not having the President (or at least Palmer) involved means that the story should at least be different. Theres also the added benefit of the whole season running completely uniterupted from start to finish, which will help keep interest (as opposed to hitting that lull in the middle of the season where there isn't a new episode for over a month). I dont know how people around here will like the new 9 pm Monday Timeslot (I personally get an east and west feed of Fox so I can watch 24 at midnight).

if Raw keeps going the way it has the last few weeks the Monday timeslot will be no problem, heh.....wonder how much WWE ratings will drop now, between 24 and Monday Night Football, heh

24 on Mondays? I guess I can watch that when Raw gets boring or predictable. -_-

In Canada TSN replays Raw at midnight, so my plan is to watch 24, read the results from Raw and then decide if it's worth watching the repeat.

I find it funny that the Diva Search finals are on the same night as the season debut of MNF (Packers at Panthers), but I digress.

Fox was smart to delay the start of 24 on Mondays until after football season. The Monday 9pm timeslot also doesn't have much competition in the way of dramas (CBS has comedy and NBC probably will be doing some reality crap and whatever ABC does post MNF).

I could give a crap about most of them but... NO DAVID PALMER!?!? WTF!!!

I always considered 24 about BOTH Jack Bauer and David Palmer. :(

For true, man. I loved the David Palmer character, and so, ...bleh. I guess season four will be.. innarestin', if nothing else.

You already have Buffy season 7 and Angel season 4.

And I forgot about the new timeslot. Looks like I won't be watching Raw anymore.
