He's supposedly looking into broadband providers, but he's a Walgreens manager and works long hours so a lot of the time, things like that slip his mind since he's got more important things to take care of. If he keeps jerking around about it, I'm going to just sign up for Adelphia myself in about 2 weeks, since that's when I'll be able to afford it, and I'll be getting Live immediately. I'd like to be able to ensure that I have a team that I want to play as, but as long as I actually get into the league I'll be happy. However, I do realize that you have to accomodate everyone and that it would be stupid and unfair to hold up proceedings over one person, so do what you have to do.

I'm disappointed in the turnout for this. I thought there were more Live users that had ESPN 2k5.

You said you'd give it a week and it's been 8 days. If you haven't, I would like to confirm my ability to participate. I'll finally have broadband access soon after signing up for SBC Yahoo DSL this morning. My package is supposed to arrive in 3-5 days and I'll be picking up an Xbox Live starter kit when I receive that, if not before. Anyway, just let me know if the league's still got a spot open for me. I'm going to go practice now so I don't get whipped too badly...

Tomorrow's the 3rd day since I ordered, so I'm hoping my DSL equipment will arrive at that time rather than taking the full 5 days. I'm not sure where it was shipped from, though. I'll be sure to check for an open spot first thing after I get Live up and running.

However, wanna hear something fucked up? Instead of kneeling the ball at the end of the game, I decided to pad Buckhalter's stats a bit. Westbrook already was out of the game with a hyperextended elbow. So I run Buckhalter with 8 seconds left, they have no timeouts. There's a MAN DOWN. It's Terrell Owens. The report: a lower leg hairline fracture. 8 weeks. Sound FAMILIAR? Into the offseason, Owens decides that with an injury and a title already won, he'll RETIRE. Ridiculous. I don't have the cap room to make him a ridiculous offer to stay. He won't unretire. Thanks.

Since this has already gone somewhat off-topic, I need new sliders. Right now, I have the computer at "legend" (125% of the all-pro sliders) while I kept all the human stuff at all-pro level. In my 3rd or 4th season with the Titans, I absolutely clobbered the Browns 72-3. How can I make the computer better without them being cheap?

For NFL 2K5, wouldn't they be shutting down the online play for this game around March or April? (Since it would be about 30 days after the end of the season, not counting the Pro Bowl, either)

If you know of any players interested in this, I'll be happy to get them into the league. These are the settings I'm fiddling with, but I'm not sure of the amount of players we will have. Season Name: TheSmartMarks League Password: Smark Number of Players: 10 Playoff Teams: 4 Round Interval: 5 days Season Length: 12 games Difficulty: Superstar Quarter Length: 6 minutes. Injuries: On Trading: On Series Length: Best of 3. At the end, the most games a player would play is 18. Multiply that by 5 day periods (18 x 5 = 90) and you get about 3 months of play. I'll create the league this Friday, so if you have changes to make to the settings, let me know beforehand.

Matt Young Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I just played the best game online. My first few games were a 56-7 loss, a 23-0 win, and a 46-17 victory. I never had a good close game. Tonight I played some guy who used the Broncos and the game was an awesome back and forth battle. I took the lead 24-21 with about 4:00 left in the game, but then he drove the length of the field thanks to some good running and a 38 yard pass play and took the lead 28-24. I lost the ball on my next possession but then forced him to punt (after using all my timeouts to stop the clock) with 43 seconds left. I starte at my own 37 and finally got down to the 17. I got a pas off that Donald Driver dropped with 3 seconds left. Man, was I pissed. I couldn't kick a FG, so I had one last shot at the end zone. I tossed a screen pass to Javon Walker, who made it to the 1 yard line before falling short as time expired. Final score: Broncos 28, Packers 24. It sucks that I lost, but that was the most fun I've had in a video game in a while.

I know what play style is, but how is it determined? I have played 4 games and have a play style of "average", but some people have played a ton of games and are listed as "n/a". As for votes, I have no idea either. I have 10/11. I've never seen any sort of voting option. Neither feature is explained in the manual or the game itself from what I've seen, so I was just curious.

I had an amazing game yesterday as well. Was up on the Vikings 10-0 at halftime over some guy that was ranked 160 or something and used Maximum Passing (two main keys in seeing if someone has way too much experience playing the game) but decided to try it anyways to get my ass kicked and see if I learned any tricks or whatever from playing someone who was that good. Before you know it, he started picking on my shitty secondary and Moss had a TAD, and at the beginning of the 4th it was 14-13 Vikes. I scored a TD with 3 minutes or so left, failed on the 2 point conversion, I was up 19-15. He then drove the field and scored a TD with just over a minute left, and then the idiot decided to kick the FG instead of going for 2. Folks, a 1 point or 2 point lead is worthless when the game could come down to a FG. So I drove up the field and kicked the FG with :02 left, and won, 22-21. Serves him right. He should have beaten me with how well he played in the second half, though.

I lost another 4 point heartbreaker today. I'll spare you most of the PBP from the beginning since it was just a few basic drives and a big pass play for a TD on each end. Basically, I scored first, then the other guy (Bengals) went up 14-7. I tied the game, but then he got a TD and a FG to take a 24-14 lead at the half. He got the ball on the 2nd half kickoff and drove the length of the field. I figured I was doomed, but I stopped him at 4th & goal from the 1 and forced Kittna to fumble. On the ensuing play, Ahman Green broke out a huge run to reach midfield. Early in the 4th, I capped off the drive with a rushing TD from Green to make it 24-21 Bengals. On the next drive, about 3 plays in, Kittna threw an interception to Sharper. I was on, I believe, the 35 of Cincinnati. I was stopped but got a quick field goal to tie it up at 24. After a run for a first down and a couple more short runs to kill time, Kittna tossed another INT. I figured to score a TD and at least guarantee OT. However, Donald Driver blew it on 3rd down from the 21. The motherfucker dropped an easily catchable pass! I had to settle for the field goal which gave me a 27-24 lead with 1:30-something left after being down 14-24. The Bengals kept executing the run for short gains and consistent first down that drained the clock before busting out a lucky 30 yard toss to get inside my 20. I thought I had them stopped and could send it to overtime if I allowed them a field goal, but with 5 seconds left, they got through my secondary for the touchdown and the 31-27 lead. Needless to say, my hail mary attempt at the end resulted in an INT, and the Packers' online record under Matt Young dropped to 2-3. I suck. but at least I'm having a lot of fun while losing. At this rate, though, I'll be losing my hair as along with the games.

I made thesmartmarks as a public league and had a ton of non-TSMers join and fill up the league unfortunately. Anyways I deleted that and recreated the league with a larger roster, so hopefully we'll see everyone who promised to join in this thread join up. Sorry to make this such a pain in the ass for y'all. League name: Thesmartmarks It's a public league, so take the spots while they're still available. 28 spots, well 27 technically as I've taken the Packers already (naturally).
