EricMM Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Did anyone else happen to catch this show? I never actually watched much FX, but I happened to catch this show. I never caught Nip/Tuck because I'm so NOT into surgery. But this show was pretty good. I just never knew how far the language envelope has been pushed on TV shows these days. But all that aside, I thought it was a pretty good show.
the max Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I knew Leary would do well with the subject matter. He lost a cousin and a childhood friend in a Worcester fire about four or five years ago. I overheard most of it, but it seems like it has life. Leary is an underrated guy, IMO.
BlackFlagg Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 damn, forgot about it...luckily FX immediately re-airs there shows
DMann2003 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I've just started watching it, this show could become regular viewing habit.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Im trying to figure out the halucinations..and now I get them..
2GOLD Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 That was extremely impressive for an opening episode. Not only that but FX has just completely taken the shackles off their series in terms of language. I'll be watching again next week, very good show.
the max Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I'm glad they let the language go. With this subject matter, it brings in a realism that makes the show even better.
Jonathon Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I'm a firefighter, and this show was pretty realistic. Watching the station scenes was like being at work. I was a little hesitant about Dennis Leary, but, good Lord, he owned in his role. Even the little things, like the guys checking out the girls on the way to the fire, is so right on...This is my new summer show.

This is one of the main areas Leary REALLY knows a lot about considering his family. I had no doubts about him in this role. The only doubt I had was about the title, which makes me think of that song and that is never a good thing.
Shanghai Kid Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 FX has become HBO as far as great shows and doing whatever they want. The Sheild, Nip Tuck, and Rescue Me are making FX the freaking channel to watch.
Guest Retro Rob Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Yeah, FX is 3 for 3. They haven't had a miss since Lucky, which was before The Shield. Even that though was considered a critical success, it just never found a large audience.
Youth N Asia Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I don't think Lucky was really a miss...it was nominated for an Emmy or something. The show was much better than the advertisements showed. I really like the first episode of this show. I've missed too much Nip/Tuck already and will have to make that up with DVDs, but FX is putting out great work. And the Shield is the best show on tv.
HarleyQuinn Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Just saw it(bless Tivo) and god damn did Leary do a great job acting and making this show captivating. I must say, this'll be going in there with my must watch shows(along with The Shield and Dead Like Me).
HarleyQuinn Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Double post, kinda cool concept for a show too.
Youth N Asia Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Very good second episode. And a guest spot by Dean Winters!
KingPK Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 I've caught bits and pieces of the first few eps., but this is the first one I've actually sat down to watch all the way, and this is now in the rotation for me, especially since Wednesday is usually dead TV wise.
Youth N Asia Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Bah, no ones replied in two weeks. This show is badass, and last night was no exception
