Transformers the Movie

Recommended Posts

no no, the matrix woulda been fine had it not sprung up in season canon TWO SEASONS LATER!

The Matrix wasn't something they pulled out of their asses. It was well established in the comic before Transformers the movie (which gave it a shitty rename of the matrix).

Very true. The comic story is actually THOUSANDS of times better than the televised story.

True but the comics were a different canon than the cartoons, I'm talking about the cartoon itself...

Oh yeah, Starvenger, I couldn't even get into Beast Wars at all, I dunno, when it comes to Transformers I just fear change!

See you guys aren't following me, I don't have a problem with the Matrix concept itself, I think it's pretty cool and all, but the fact that we don't know jack about it until after the first 50 something episodes is what was stupid about the whole idea...the writers needed soemthing to elevate Hot Rod so they introduced the Matrix into the cartoon world...

This seems pretty cool, though if Starscream isn't in it I sure as hell won't watch it . . . only cool character of the series. He was like the one guy who looked after himself and himself only, all the rest were so predictable.

What's the deal with CGI? Though I think in a movie about giant robots that was previously a cartoon that sort of animation won't be too out of place.

No, I got you there. It's just that after years of following the X-Men, I'm used to the concept of the retcon (RETroactive CONtinuity, for those of you unfamiliar with the term), so a plot device like the Matrix doesn't bother me that much.

Now, if they had done a retcon on the level of Superman (after Crisis) and said that Orion Pax never existed in the cartoon, then I'd have some issues with it.

Don Murphy has posted more info at DonMurphy.net about the Transformers Live Action Movie.

Many things to answer here on the fly.

There's a shitload of rumors that you guys take as facts out there. There are NO voice actors yet. There may be soon. I will personally make sure that our director considers Frank and the gang. I think celebrity voices for a film like this is moronic.

Someone out there is telling you that there aill no be toys for this movie from Hasbro? Dream on. That's the very reason they WANT a film from Steven Spielberg.

NOTHING is decided. IN MY OPINION knowing how Hollywood works---

1- I do not see mass shifting happening.

2- I do not see a giant robot turning into a cassette player.

3- Hasbro will not have a toy that turns into a pistol.

4- I just saw the robots in SKY CAPTAIN at Comic-Con- we want ours to be the opposite of those. Personalities!

We are NOT doing anything to do with Beasts and Dinos and shit.

I think Soundwave is the burger with cheese and sauce. I think his "tapes" are badass.

Maybe you're right- maybe he never changes.

Dunno.

Keep talking- you can tell we are really listening.

The next few weeks will have us, ala X MEN, decide on 7 core members of each team. Desanto will be there to make sure we stay true.

Your input is NOW.

No dinos?

I demand Grimlock if future movies are made.

Hound must be in it...

(Wonders if he is the only Hound mark on the planet)

you know I actually dug Hound too, seems like after Season One he got shipped to back up duty after being VERY prominant in season one...Trailbreaker also...seemed like they were big time in almost every episode of season one...Sideswipe, Sunstreaker and Mirage were never prominant, another puzzler...but hey, gotta sell those toys so push guys back to make way for new ones!

Transformers the Movie is a tremendous work, and a great, hugely influential example of eastern and western animation styles pieced together. Thus, I despise this movie already.

Brawn is not dead.

(There. If you are all truly TFans, that should start a never-ending argument)

Or how about...

F.I.R.R.I.B.

If Brawn didn't die, then who the fuck was it that got wasted by Megatron in TF: The Movie?

BTW, that has to be one of the best death scenes of any animated movies.

*Autobot (I thought Brawn, but who knows?) struggles at Megatron's feet, Megatron points his arm cannon straight at the Autobot's head*

Megatron: Such heroic NONSENSE.

*blows Autobot away*

That was Ironhide. Brawn got shot in the shoulder right when the Decepticons walked in.

the general consensus would be that brawn died when the autobot shuttle crashed after the Decepticons hopped off it while hot rod was shooting at them...

This is what you'd think, but since his name never appeared in the mausoleum during "The Return of Optimus Prime" some fans insist that he isn't dead, which personally I think is silly. I mean, everyone else on that shuttle died, why not Brawn.

That's nonsense. He's the strongest Autobot on Earth, no way he's downed by a shot to the shoulder.

He, Grimlock strongest Autobot.

As dense as Brawn is, Grimlock is a million times dumber (except in that one episode) than he is. Brawn was smart enough to steal Megatron's Fusion Cannon in Fire On the Mountain (I own the DVDs).

The first time I saw "Grimlock's New Brain", I was on vacation in Hong Kong and the dialogue was in Cantonese. Let's just say that was interesting, and in English or Chinese I still don't give a crap about the Compubots.

BTW, Brawn wasn't smart enough to brace himself from the cannon's recoil. Or maybe he wasn't strong enough and Megatron's more of a bad mofo than we originally thought.

How can you not care about Computron? His computation capacity is nearly infinite (or so he says). Plus, he has the little goatee. He's legitimately my favorite combiner, but I don't know why.

shiiiiiiiit Bruticus owns motherfuckin Computron!

EDIT: but Predaking owns them all! forgot about him!

Nah you had it right the first time although the Predacons did an awesome job Vs. Megatron in the comics.

Let us all not forget to call them "Gestaults" instead of combiners. Gestault is about the most awesome name for a toy that was designed simply to get you to buy 5 times as many toys ever.

Everybody hated on The Hulk for the CGI, this can't be any better.

No, everyone hated The Hulk because they tried to turn it into a live action comic book. The panels, the switches, the crappy split screen slots. That's what made it suck.

" I don't believe that the movie will be that craptacular. Jurrassic Park and the Star Wars Prequels had massive amounts of CGI, I don't think there will be an issue with the CGI."

And those sucked. What's your point?

You say that as if it's a fact.

I enjoyed them a lot.

What's your point?

Bah... I still mark out for Superion as well as most of those mentioned (Computron is meh) -- but the Aerialbots and Stunticons are my two favorite groups.

And it also drives me crazy, about the Matrix, because the Movie was already being worked on BEFORE the first two seasons were worked on. They wanted the Movie first, but realized it was going to take longer to produce, so they started doing the TV series early.

Also, the TV series takes place like 20 years before the movie (or whathaveyou).

Oh, and what in the fuck is "F.I.R.R.I.B." I'm a pretty big TF Fan, but i have no clue what that means.

You're the Sakura of the Movie-DVD-TV forum, in the sense that your opinion is so often such a minority that nobody cares what you think (blue spandex, damnit!). I guess that's the point. :P No offense, of course.

Well, thing is, Ang used those while simultaneously trying to make it serious and "psychological." Then for the last half hour or so it becomes so out there and asinine that any remaining chance you had of not laughing at the movie goes out the window.

It's hard to really pinpoint one thing...the whole thing reeked of cheese to me. Even in my first viewing, halfway through it I was more interesting in making Beast of Yucca Flats references than actually buying into the movie.

Also, every single character except for our two neurotic main ones were stock, black-and-white characters with little motivation other than "he's good" or "he's bad." Lame.

Actually you're acting more like Sakura than me. You just flat out say "that movie sucked" as if it's a fact.

So I'm saying "Well I enjoyed it." So what does that mean? I'm some kind of moron for liking these movies you claim "suck" as if it's a fact?
