jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 That's crazy. I just saw them talking about this on Sportscenter a few seconds ago. It's always the running backs leaving in their prime.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Nope, it's the actual Ricky. The Dolphins are screwed.
jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 It just broke on Sportscenter, I don't think it's hit the major websites yet.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Oh well... honestly I'm not surprised. He has always had problems with his celebrity and well... those Dolphins sure like their running backs to have their screws loose.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Ricky had alot of problems with depression and stuff of that nature. I hope whatever he chooses to do now finally brings him a smile. He was a good guy to watch run.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 25, 2004 This gots to be bullshit. Nope, sadly enough for the sport its not. He said he was going to play this year for his teamates but in the end he couldn't play for anybody but himself. He said going into it half-heartedly would cost his team and possibly get himself injured.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 I feel bad for the Dolphins. They invested so much in Williams that they went out and got a 3rd string QB to start, thinking Williams would carry the offense. Say bye bye to the playoffs, Miami.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted July 25, 2004 FUCK ME RUNNING. Ricky retired? Say it ain't so!
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 This is a crippling blow to the Dolphins so I'd imagine he'll finish this season out of respect to the organization and give them a chance to make the Playoffs/Super Bowl before hanging the sneakers up. It'll give him a final season and allow Miami to prepare to draft a running back next season. I am a Pats fan but I didn't want to see Miami go down like this. My two brothers and Dad are Dolphins fans and right now they are in shock I would bet. And A.J. Feeley has got to be crying cause he'll be a dead man. ETA: Nope, he's done now....wow. That is...wow. Guest acnx Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Wow. This is absolutely shocking. I wish him luck in whatever he chooses to do, and hope that the whole anxiety disorder shit is behind him. I'll miss watching him play, he was incredible.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Ricky always has been a strange one. But I'd have to say that THIS is certainly out there, even for him. I can at least respect him somewhat for quitting if he knows his heart isn't in it.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Hmm. He pretty much screwed the Dolphins by waiting until AFTER Eddie George and Antowain Smith, the two big FA RB sign with other teams.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Lets just say he was no Barry Sanders. But he was much younger than Barry and always seemed to not reach his peak.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Hmm. He pretty much screwed the Dolphins by waiting until AFTER Eddie George and Antowain Smith, the two big FA RB sign with other teams. Yeah see, this is what shocks me. Ricky is a great guy and he held off on this decision until no one was available. It's a great breakthrough he is finally doing something for himself and his family...but damn he left Miami in the middle of rapids while he swam off with the paddles and life jackets. Is there anyone left they could acquire or is Travis Minor now the starting running back of the Miami Dolphins?
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Juuuuust wonder-fucking-ful. Why couldn't he have done this before the draft, or before Eddie George was signed? Hell, in time so the could've made a play for Corey Dillon. Fuck fuck fuck.
Guest tangerine Report post Posted July 25, 2004 I am not surprised at all at this decision. He never seemed truly happy playing football and was always shy about the fame. At least he had the decency to leave when he knew he wouldn't have the heart for it.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 25, 2004 They could always aquire somebody in a trade. This is probably crippling to them though since they have an overpaid 2nd string QB now leading them and no RB. Time to start rebuilding it would seem. As a Pats fan this helps my team out alot. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 I checked the roster...yep, the Dolphins backfield will be Fiedler/Feely, Rob Konrad and Travis Minor. Minor is an outstanding third down back, but I don't know if he can get any better than that. I'm checking the free agent market and seeing who they could snap up.
