Guest CronoT Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Well..Harold & Kumar go to White Castle did worse then I thought it would...well not really, but stoner movies should do better . And well, Thunderbirds bombed..but who didn't see that coming. All the retards and stoners and druggies who went to see it, appearently. Oh, and the parents who got dragged along when their kids whined and bitched about wanting to see it.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Harold & Kumar bombed? Damn it. I haven't seen it yet, but I was just glad to see Hollywood getting behind two supporting actors in such a way.
Guest bort Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Im really surprised to see Thunderbirds bomb, my friend works at a small local threatre and he said that over 300 people came to see it saturday which is pretty good considering the size of the place and how good everything else did this weekend
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Damn......I thought Harold and Kumar would make more money. I went to see it off of word of mouth b/c I thought it'd be stupid. But I loved it.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Thunderbirds had bomb written all over it. Little advertisement and the ads just looked like crap. Looked too old to be a kiddie movie and too sucky to be for older kids. Debuting out of the top 10...ouch
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 I saw Bourne Supremacy today and thought it is better than the last few Bond movies. The only thing that would make this series better is if they bring in Jean Reno and the cast of Ronin.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted August 2, 2004 H & K only cost $9 million and it was in a little over 2,000 theaters this week. I think it will pick up from word of mouth, the same way that The Village will drop.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 My girlfriend went out with her friends and cousins tonight to go to the movies and they were actually going to see Catwoman (remind me to give her a light slam later). Funny thing is, they got there and they weren't running it because no one bought tickets for the showing. Good thing, too. Better believe my disapointment when she actually said that's what they were going to see.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Awsm. The fact that there are places where they have to not show Catwoman because nobody's buying tickets makes my night a little bit better

And if she wants to see Thunderbirds, file for a restraining order against her after you dump her. wait...does she like Cubs baseball?
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 She wasn't much of a baseball fan in the beginning, but I've more or less forced the game (and more specifically, the Cubs) on her. She doesn't know a whole lot about the sport still, so it's kinda cute to listen to her talk about it. I always got on her about Alex Gonzalez because she thought he was hot. She was a big Lofton fan, too and always tells me they should've kept him. Considering how things in center have gone this year, maybe she actually is on to something. But anyway, yeah, we don't exactly share the same taste in movies. She's into the horror genre, while I'm into more of the critically acclaimed flicks. At least she wants to go see Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, though.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 what about Critically Acclaimed horror movies?
nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Hooray! Catwoman is a huge dud. It had $100 mil budget. I dont see the Village having a strong second weekend with all the bad reviews but it did pretty well. Harold and Kumar might have some legs. Good reviews everywhere, I hear its hilarious. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Damn, I didn't think the Village would top the box office. Thank God Thunderbirds bombed and its nice to see Anchorman still hanging in the top 10.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 what about Critically Acclaimed horror movies? I didn't know such things existed.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 sure they do. They're usually the dramatic horror type movies like The Exorcist as opposed to slasher movies or Argento type movies, but they exist.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 True, but not too many of those come down the pike these days. Of course, we're getting the new Exorcist movie in a few weeks, but hard to say if that's going to be any good or not.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 WOW, did Thunderbirds bomb. I mean, I figured it would - but I did think it would at least break the top ten. You just KNOW that the producers / studio were probably hoping for another Spy Kids-like kiddie franchise with this thing. Glad to see Bourne Supremacy doing so well. It deserves it. Anyone want to wager how much Village will drop next week? I'm going to guess 60%. Shymalan is, I think, pretty much exposed now.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 H & K only cost $9 million and it was in a little over 2,000 theaters this week. I think it will pick up from word of mouth, the same way that The Village will drop. I think it's destined to be a video cult classic, so there's no real worry about it "bombing". As the "anti-blockbuster" that was counter-programmed against the blockbuster and the semi-blockbuster (Manchurian Candidate), it would have done a lot better if one of those movies had gotten unfavourable reviews. The good news about Catwoman is that it's pretty much dead. The bad news is that someone will rationalize it by saying "$30 mil for an action movie with a female lead really isn't that bad"... Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Word of mouth will hopefully help H&K next week. It'd be a shame if it didn't make more than a blip. It's the first film in a long time I've actively rooted for to be a success.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Maybe she doesn't have bad taste and she's just a b-movie/MST3K geek... Lord knows that's why I'm considering planning going to see it with my free pass. Nah. She can see when a movie is bad and still like it, but a lot of the time, she'll genuinely think some piece of shit movie was actually good. And by the same token, she tends to not like a lot of movies I think are good. For instance, she said Monster was the dumbest movie she'd ever seen. But oh well, she cooks, cleans and is insanely generous to me, so I'm able to overlook it. Most of the time. I've got a free pass to the show, too. Although, I'm considering going and then hopping over to another movie that I actually, ya know, wanna see.
