Serious Moments You Found Funny

Recommended Posts

The "Sumo Monster Truck Battle" from WCW Halloween Havoc 1995.

The way Tony and Bobby went on about how Giant was dead after Hogan knocked him off the roof of Cobo Hall was funny but Hogans reaction was even better, "Help, Help". I mean he had just knocked the guy off a roof during a fight and then he was wimpering for help. It was too funny.

Then Giant appeared for the main event later on with no explination at all!

God bless WCW.

Oh God, that had me in tears. The fall alone was funny, but what made it even better was that I was watching with my friend who at the time thought it was all real. He got all sad and started crying, and I found it funny as hell. I don't think I ever let him live that one down.

Giant running over Hogan's motorcycle before Fall Brawl 95 had me dying too.

I thought that whole thing about him like falling into the Detroit River and Whatnot was hilarious because You can't fall into the Detroit River Cobo Hall. You can however fall on a bum

For me its when Hulk's Neck was "broken" by The Giant. It looked so damn bad and corny. It was just funny to watch, as I laughed my ass off. Everything with the Dungeon of Doom was so easy to laugh at, I would just laugh when they came on screen. That, and Double Hump of DOOM~! by The Yeti and Giant to Hogan. Hell, the whole Giant/Hogan HH 95 match is the greatest comedy ever. The build-up, the match (trying to rip Hogan/Andre off), and the ending where all funny.

Nah, Zeus/Tiny Lister "snapping" Hogan's neck was better.

My all-time favorite still remains this:

Piper.

Snuka.

Coconut.

Hilarity.

I was such a mark back then.... but every year I saw it, especially when the WWF used the footage for their updates, I laughed harder every time I saw it. Hell, that was about 20 years ago now, and even thinking about it makes me laugh aloud.

Running a close second HAS to be the Shockmaster. Anything that can reduce Bobby Heenan to utterly helpless laughter simply CANNOT be all bad.

God bless WCW is right.

I like to watch as many old Dusty Rhodes promos as possible. It is the pinnacle in completely out of this world rambling. The best part? He makes all of this nonsensical unrelated shit fit together coherently AND intense at the same time.

Doesn't tarnish how bizarre and hilarious it is.

Oh, I got one!

Remember back in late 2001/early 2002, when Undertaker was a psychopath? When he did a Last Ride on Jeff Hardy, and then threw off Lita from the stage, they panned to Matt Hardy in WWF New York. His 'shock' reaction was just hilarious.

And then the next week, when Taker killed his throat and he was on a stretcher, Taker comes to talk to him, saying something like "Was the bitch worth it?". I must have one strange sense of humour, but that was freaking hilarious.

HBK - smile = LMAO

Just about every time in wrestling history when they tried to present somethng serious that involved over the top theatrics and soap operish elements, have been funny to me.

The serious moments in wrestling to me which are actually serious are those moments that do not feel forced. I took Hogan's heel turn seriously, I look Curt Henning turning on Ric Flair at War Games seriously, I took Randy Savage and Elizabeth seriously, and on and on.

When things happen more naturally, nice and slow, things usually come off a lot better also.

Anyone else remember the Steve Blackman promo right before Summerslam 1999 where he stared at Terry Taylor the whole time? That made me laugh.

More Undertaker goodness.

Him threatening Vince Mcmahon with "I'm gonna get in yo stankass!" is still one the most bizarre quotes ever. I didn't even laugh for 5 minutes after, I just tried to contemplate what he had just said.

Him casually telling JR "I am going to stab you in the face" during his Evil Taker days is good times.

The infamous Taker/Kane vs Kronik match. I swear, when Taker gets a tag, he runs into the ring ready to throw a punch and screams "MEAT" before plugging one of the Bryan's in the face.

How about JR joining the Kiss My Ass Club, courtsey of The Undertaker

Shamrock finding Stephanie in the Boiler Room was also GOLD.

Biker Taker's Heel run, where all he could do was cry about respect

I can't remember exactly what happened, but sometime in late 2002 I think, but someone (Brock?) beat up the Undertaker on Smackdown. After the attack, they showed footage of Taker stumbling around punch drunk that I found funny. Seeing him start back up the ramp, then just stumble backwards and fall into the apron cracked me up.

There was one Raw in 99 (and my friends and I had a running joke about this) where Vince McMahon was supposed to fight Ken Shamrock. Before the match, they did a backstage segment that showed Michael Cole (or somebody) running up to Vince with a mic...there may have been an audio problem or something, because you can't hear him calling Vince or anything. The whole segment is just the announcer coming up from behind, Vince randomly turning around and asking "Do you think...that I'm afraid...of Ken Shamrock?", then walking off before the commercial. It was definitely supposed to be serious but it came off so damn random.

There was a DX vs Corporation rumble on RAW. And right at the start Shamrock throws himself over the top rope onto Gunn or James. He's elmiminated himself at the very start of the match and sticks around for another minute or so doing a beatdown till someone else shows up...the ref is trying to get him to leave the entire time.

Another one before Summerslam 1999...Test is doing an interview about how he's taking out all the Mean Street Posse and is coming for Shane, and calls all the MSP "buttsniffers". That just seemed so odd everyone in the room I was watching the show with just burst out laughing.

Yeah, it's bizarre, but you can't deny how good an interview it made.

"I'm here for ya baby, JUMP ON IT!"

Oh, and I thought Flair's fake "heart attack" was pretty funny.

At Slamboree 1999, Bischoff 'fires' Flair as President of WCW (How he had the storyline authority to do this, I do not know.). This leads to Flair yelling on the mic and then turning to a 10ish year old boy and starts screaming,

"You shut up! You shut up! Sit down kid, shut up!! Sit down and shut up!!! Sit down! Sit down!! Wooooooo!!! Woooooooo!!! Woooooooooo!!!!!"

Meanwhile, one kid sbout the same age is giving him the finger and the one he's yelling at does not obey Mr. Flair. Blasted youngins!

Before the Ministry's debut, they had these little vignettes of the Acolytes holding Dennis Knight in a dungeon of some kind. That was more of a WTF thing, yet funny.

The HBK beatdown in early '99 (same night Foley won the belt, i believe). Funny as hell, just for the cameraman being actually acknowledged & knocked out of the way during the beatdown.

Bloodbaths. 'Nuff said.

Owen and Bulldog cutting a serious promo about revenge (Austin had assaulted Bret in an ambulance)... only to have the director yell "AGAIN OWEN" and have them repeat the promo again.

Kane: "JR you're gonna feel my pain!"

(Kane gets ready to set "JR" on fire)

People In The Background: No Kane, don't do it!

Oh man...I remember those people now. Yeah like he would just hesitate and reconsider or something? That's not good TV!

This wasn't at all serious, but Steven Richards accidently hitting, I think it was the Goodfather and JR calling it with "oh...you stupid son of a bitch" with disgust and pity in his voice still cracks me up.

On th Dusty stuff, yeah, despite it being at times hilarious, I see exactly why Dusty drew back then. He could cut a promo.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Undertaker dragging Hulk Hogan (decked out in full biker gear) through the locker room on his bike. Hogan's helmet alone makes this funny.

Also, Hogan trying to chase after Taker on his bike, but not being able to get the bike started.
