CZW 9/11 show thread

Recommended Posts

I realise this show was kinda touched on in the thread for last months show, but it's nice to have these things in there own threads to have comments on the updates and so on. Plus the other thread hadn't been updated recently.

Matches announced for the afternoon show :

Super Dragon vs. B-Boy vs. Excalibur vs. Bobby Quance

Alex Shelley vs. Chris Hero

Amazing Red & Sonjay Dutt vs. Jimmy Rave & M-Dogg20

Matches announced for the evening show :

Kevin Steen vs. Sexxy Eddy vs. El Generico vs. Excess 69

B-Boy vs. King (Eddie Kingston)

Ghost Shadow/Sprial vs. All Money Is Legal

Matches announced for the day - but not which show they're on :

Necro Butcher vs. Wifebeater - 4 Corners of Pain (Glass/Thumbtacks/??/??) -

Special Guest Referee : Lobo

JC Bailey vs. Chris Ca$h vs. Nate Webb - Ladder Match

Messiah vs. Justice Pain

Mike Quakenbush, Gran Akuma, Icarus, Mister Zero and Shane Storm vs. BlackJack Marciano, Jigsaw, Hallowicked, Ultramantis Black & "Sweet & Sour" Larry Sweeney

Ian Knoxx vs. Adam Flash - Cage Match

Ruckus & Sabian vs. The Maximo Brothers (SATs)

People announced but with no match

Mike Quackenbush, Mr Zero, Hallowicked & Larry Sweeney from Chikira

The shows are certainly looking interesting, and this whole thing is a big gamble for CZW as ROH are running 45 minutes away and the evening show is a PPV taping. Looks like they're really making use of non-ROH talent, not quite sure where to stand on the addition of the SATS. Red is no longer quite the same but the other 3 in the match should be able to pull out something good. I haven't seen the Maximos for ages - no idea if they've improved or not.

More matches to be announced, the ROH guys will be on the afternoon show apparently. Hopefully they'll make the West Coast 4 way for an Ironman shot in the evening show as Hero vs. any of those guys would be great. I think at this moment in time however it's a matter of waiting and seeing.

I'll be at CZW afternoon and ROH night. Daniels and Styles aren't big draws against ROH either, ask 3PW. CZW would be better off finding some other guys to make their show more appealing without paying an assload for AJ. I know Daniels is already booked elsewhere.

Flying in I take it?

The lineups look good...though the one thing I haven't liked when watching CZW matches in the past is how many end with stupid run in or Russo-like finishes. I hope these shows are well booked, because the talent involved looks great so far.

Ruckus & Sabian vs. The Maximo Brothers (SATs)

I bet this match will suck, last I saw the Maximos were as bad as ever, while Ruckus and Sabian aren't too good either. The rest of the show looks pretty good though.

Berk leaving isn't a surprise. He's been on the outs with Zandig for awhile (just like Rebel, Derek Frazier, Acid, Cash, and others), even though he's tried to make it sound like a mutual falling out (it wasn't really...he can't stand Zandig). Good to see AMIL getting booked. They're amazing. I haven't seen Kingston work, but I've heard good things about him, and B-Boy always is a great guy to book newcomers to CZW against (i.e. his match with Excalibur) because he's so versatile in terms of styles.

B-Boy vs. Super Dragon vs. Booby Quance vs. Excalibur and Hero vs. Shelley will probably steal the show. They're not taping these for the PPV?

He's been treating his wrestlers like shit over the past year and a half, and he's using political power to prevent many of them from working in major promotions other than CZW. Sonjay is about the only one he's allowing to do any other major indy gigs.

Big old Chikara match announced and I rejigged some of the original lineup due to it turning out that we really don't know on which show most matches are.

Also, it's been heavily suggested on the CZW site that their will be H8 Club vs. Blackout in a weapons cage match.

Cage Match:

End of show 1.

Show 2

Blackout Vs. H8 Club Cage match went to a no contest due to run ins

GQ, Derek Fraizer and Shawn (Sean?) Bishop d. CKNY and Jude.

Chris Hero d. Super Dragon in around 15 minutes

After the match, KAOS of XPW fame ran in and attacked Messiah, setting up Messiah vs. Kaos for next month's show (My take: somewhere Barber is hearing this news and having a massive heart attack at the tender age of 12)

I was at Show #1...here's the true, unbiased take:

King d. Merc, DJ Hyde, Jon Dahmer....

Nothing of releveance. The Blackout stable did some funny "run away" comedy outside when being chased.

Chris Hero d. Alex Shelley in 16 minutes

This was...good. Not great.

Jimmy Rave and M-Dogg 20 d. Amazing Red and Sonjay Dutt

Another decent match, not great. M-Dogg as a heel sucks. He hit no real significant crowd-pleasing spots. Red and Dutt worked together well.

All Money Is Legal d. Ghost Shadow & Spyral

The match was just spot after spot (many of them rushed and not great), and the match wasn't THAT good, HOWEVER, these guys worked their ass off. Good effort and a lot of hard work.

Super Dragon d. B-Boy, Bobby Quance, Excalibur

This picked up after a kind of slow start and never looked back. AWESOMENESS abounds, as everyone could have won, even Excalibur, who nearly stole a win before getting hit with the "Psycho Driver" for the pin. Really, really hard work and a great bout.

Blackout Beat The Maximos.

Blown spots galore, but they tried hard.

10-Man Match:

Mike Quackenbush/Gran Akuma/Icarus/Mister ZERO/Shane Storm defeated BlackJack Marciano/Jigsaw/Hallowicked/UltraMantis Black/Larry Sweeney

Crowd found this very amusing and all 10 men worked well together. Very crowd pleasing and a welcome addition to CZW.

Cage Match:

Ian Knoxx Beat Adam Flash

Crap. Seriously. The "blowoff" in a CAGE starts with a clean tie-up and irish Whips galore? seriously...like...it appeared these guys had never met each other before. The "hatred" wasn't there. Went through the motions. Just...slowl

No, I'm just happy Kaos is finally getting some more bookings. Messiah vs. Kaos has happened twice before - in JCW (never released on tape) and in PCW. What's cool is it's happening on a bigger platform.

And 12?

Wasn't Justice Pain the CZW wrestler that jumped ship to XPW, and Zandig said would never get another CZW booking? Or was that somebody else?

Also, how is the Messiah doing these days? He's the highlight of the few XPW tapes I have, so I'm curious.

Justice Pain is the same guy. And yeah, it's wrestling, the word never doesn't really mean anything. Although admitedly I'm suprised they didn't do it earlier - there's such a ready made storyline for him (which they're currently pulling off quite nicely IMHO)

Messiah's doing good at the moment. For a while last year they didn't seem to have much to do with him aside from as a leader of the main heel group (but they didn't really have him wrestle much - just talk).

But this year seems to be shaping up well. He's had some good defences against Homicide and B-Boy, by all accounts the match with JP wasn't too bad and hopefully his match against Kaos will be pretty fun too.

Zandig has been trying to bring Pain back for like a year, and it just worked out about a month ago. Messiah's doing pretty good lately. He changed his look and grew longer hair, but is the same wrestler he was.

Pain is also Nick Gage's brother.

Also, now that I think of it, wasn't Kaos supposed to take Messiah on about two years ago, but XPW backed out of the deal? Isn't that where a lot of their heat stemmed from originally?
