Does Anyone Notice The Trend?

Recommended Posts

Guest SetsunaMeioh

For the past year or so, everytime Raw has come to California, The Rock has shown up.

Do you think the trend will continue? I hope so. B-)

It's because they are playing up the "Rock is a Hollywood star" angle, nothing more.

Southern California crowds are dead because it takes a LOT to impress them.

Anywhere in California is usually a bad crowd...it's been like that for years. Los Angeles and Anahiem are two citys that usually aren't hot for shows.

I was thinking of the potential lineups for the 5 on 5 they could do this year @ Survior Series and The Rock would be a fantastic mystery team member for the face side.

Orton/Benoit/Jericho/Rock/Michaels vs HHH/Batista/Flair/Kane/New Evo member (probably Christian or Edge, Benjamin being an outside possibility.)

It would be a great rub for Orton if Rock showed up and cut an extended version of what Benoit told Orton @ SummerSlam. Lord knows Randy needs the rub from somebody right now and jobbing to HHH at Unforgiven isn't gonna do it.

"cough, cough"

Hey I'm going to be at RAW on Monday. I'll make sure that I sit on my hands during the entire show. Why do we get all the wedding angles?

Oh, I'm sorry. We don't get to chant "You sold out" to Brock or Goldberg or "You Screwed Bret" to Earl Hebner. Hey, I tell YOU what... I'll do the wave the entire DAMN TIME.

Go Ducks.

This is true.  California has the worst crowds in North America.

Yet, Vince picks LA for WM 21. Well, at least we got a chance to smoke the Hate Toronto thread with that crowd :P Better yet maybe Vince should just fly Toronto fans to LA for the show. If Rock's at the show I would love to see the you sold out chants in hollywood.

The california crowd helped ruin Wrestlemania 2000, I feel one of the main reasons the show came off so drab was due to the crappy California fans. Same thing with Mania 12, while the iron man match was boring at times, a rabid crowd would have made the match much better. People from California just flat out suck as wrestling fans.

LA got WrestleMania because it's the second biggest media market in the world. And Vince wants to do the next couple WMs in massive media markets. Atlanta will probably be the home of WM22.

As a California wrestling fan, i have to agree. The only crowd i actually thought was any good was WM7.

That Iron Man match is weird. Many thought of it as one of the greatest matches of all time. Myself included.

It just hasn't held up well over time. Still has some great spots and ending, though.

I like how none of you are talking about the topic at hand.

I for one would like to see Rock come back again on Raw, maybe even to do something with Orton to put him over as a babyface now.

Speaking of the Iron Man Match: The wrestling sequence for the first 20 minutes was a waste, and Bret Hart kept NO SELLING HBK working the arm! The crowd didn't get into it until the last 15-20 minutes when they went balls out.

The crowd was barely alive for Ultimate Warriors return, and the under-card matches pretty much had zero heat.

I don't think I've watched WM XII in it's entirety in 3 or 4 years, because ity just comes off as boring.

Wrestlemania VII was probably the hottest LA crowd I've ever seen. Of course, this was back when WWE had the hottest feuds (Warrior/Savage; Hogan/Slaughter) so that doesn't surprise me.

Forgive my attitude but it's a shitty topic, since everyone knows whenever they are anywhere in California (Los Angeles, San Diego, Anahiem, etc.) The Rockc will show up. The problem is people forget RAW is IN a California city, so thats why it's a surprise.

Southern California and Long Island are like the pink AWA studio in terms of crowd response. It seems like most big cities in the country are strong but these areas just show nothing.

I think I remember sometime in 2001 when Raw was in Long Island and the crowd didn't even pop that much for Mick Foley, considering he's FROM Long Island.

Of course, the same can be said about the recent Edge/Toronto Summerslam incident, whereas it never really happened in the past with Edge for some reason.

Hopefully, if Smackdown makes some runs in California, Rock shows up there too, if they're really concerned about the ratings of the TV shows.

Well the LA crowd is ok , Ive been to 2 evetns at staples (sd 8/01 and unforgiven 9/02) and the crowd was pretty good.

Im going for the first time to anaheim on monday (my luck, my first ever time to go to a raw and I get another crap wedding angle)

yea the crowds tend to suck, but thats due to the fact that most californians (read, rich ones, or fake posers) are bland and their reactions match that (as well as the crappy food-man I miss NY sometimes). and add that to the fact that most here are front running or fairweather fans for sports, they dont really have any passion for that, so wrestling I guess applies as well (though wm 12 was boring as hell IMO)

the blue collar crowds are the best. the best crowds I have seen are at indy events I have been to here. think about how much wm tix cost, do you really expect your average fan to be able to afford it? (though I plan to reverse the trend and somehow score some seats for wm 21)

so you get the hollywood phonies (which I have suggested as the new name for the lakers, as there arent many lakes in LA lol)

you see most here suffer from what I like to refer as sun brain damage and some even have the deadly "Poser virus" which forces them to spend all their money going out to the movies, and buying stuff for their homes which they never spend time in and getting divorced 5 times, and owning 5 cars in a two person household in an effort to have more stuff than anyone else, and being afraid to die since they know they cant take their stuff with them (once again this is only my hackeneyed theory)

sorry for the rant there

Ill try to think of a good sign to bring (though I usually dont bring any)

perhaps one hailing our own smartmarks forum

SMARTMARKS DOT COM FORUM ROCKS!!!!!!!

yea that totally reeks of awesomeness
