Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I love that about Gedge; I can't think of any other good rock lyricists who balance genuine heartbreak and shallow superficiality as well as him. Most are the former; Greg Dulli is the latter.
Gary Floyd Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Saul Williams - Black Stacy I saw Saul in a poetry reading about three months ago. It was awesome. Anyways Mastadon-Circle of the Cysquatch
snuffbox Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I saw him Wed night. Awesome it was. He spoke from 18 inches in front of me.

Gary Floyd Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 the killers - bones frightfully, i am starting to like the killers. oh my. what is happening to me? I always considered their first album a guilty pleasure. Sure, it's disposable, but it's fun, unpretentious dance-rock. Their new one didn't do it for me, mostly because it's incredibly pretentious and self important, IMO. Plus, it's attempts at aping guys like Springsteen and U2 are pretty poor at best. Anyways Foetus-Aladdin Reverse
Annabelle Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 i agree. the killers are the best when they make fun, unapologetical new wave rip off songs. there are still some fun songs of the new album, but it is a little too earnest in parts. which sadly is the direction i'm sure their career is going in. plus, they come across as the world's biggest douches. which im pretty sure made me hate them with a blind passion.
vivalaultra Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 The Dirty South-The Drive-By Truckers. These guys should be alot more popular than they are. Indeed.
PLAGIARISM! Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I was kind of close to saying 'yeah, fair enough' to The Killers, but the newer offering sounds like utter shite, from the exposure I've had thus far.

Henry Spencer Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 I can't think of any other good rock lyricists who balance genuine heartbreak and shallow superficiality as well as him. Elvis Costello has pulled it off occasionally.
