Upcoming DVD releases

No. Back in the 80s when I still collected comics, the Marvel Bullpen would joke about that all the time. Same name, different guy.

BTW, that 40th Anniversary collection sounds pretty keen. I might consider getting that, along with the old Spider-Man cartoons from the late '60s. I hope they eventually release the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends Saturday morning cartoons. Those were great.

I don't know if this will mean anything to anyone here or not.

From Fangoria's website:

GOZU Goes to Video Release in the US

Pathfinder Pictures has announced that it will release Takashi Miike’s memorably bizarre horror film GOZU to DVD November 23. The disc will include a 16x9-enhanced widescreen transfer and a host of extras, including:

• Audio commentary by film critics Andy Klein and Wade Major

• A one-hour roundtable interview with Miike, film critic Darren Gross and directors Guillermo del Toro and Eli Roth (portions of which can be read here and here

• A one-hour featurette featuring on-set footage, actor interviews and Miike at the Cannes film festival for GOZU’s screening there

• Film notes by AGITATOR: THE CINEMA OF TAKASHI MIIKE author Tom Mes

• Still gallery

Those who want to catch GOZU on the big screen prior to owning the disc should go to the Pathfinder link above for a list of theatrical playdates. Pathfinder Home Video’s upcoming slate also includes three more Miike titles—YAKUZA DEMON (KIKOKU), ANDROMEDIA and WHITE-COLLAR WORKER KINTARO, along with JU-RAI: THE UNCANNY, a supernatural chiller by director Koji Shiraishi about high-school girls terrorized and slaughtered by a mysterious black-hooded figure. That disc streets October 26. —Michael Gingold

Home Movies reminds me of this quote from Family Guy, only you switch Aaron Sorkin for Brendon Small and Sports Night For Home Movies.

"I finally get Aaron Sorkin's Sports Night. Its a comedy that's too good to be funny!"

Another release of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is on the way.

http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0&s=1&c=5104&n=1&burl=

Universal Home Video has today announced plans to release a two-disc Collector's Edition of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which stars Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Elijah Wood, Mark Ruffalo and Tom Wilkinson. As far as we know, the set will include the standard retail release of the film, along with the films soundtrack on the second disc. On top of that, the set will include a Commemorative Photo Book. The retail price hasn't been set for this one, but we can tell you that it will be available to own in shops from the 4th January next year. We've attached the first look at the official artwork below:

I have the current release of Leon, but I don't mind double-dipping for the Deluxe Edition. The extras are reason enough for me to buy the DE. While on the subject of double-dipping:

I was up at Suncoast today, and saw the new version of Pirates of the Carribean. It was pathetic. It wsa the regular release verson of the movie, sans slipcover, and shrinkwraped to the side of it (think of the two movies for $20 deals at Best Buy- that kind of side by side deal) was the 'Missing Disk' in a thin DVD holder (the kind that are found in most TV DVD sets- like Buffy). It's a cheap ass way to release it, especially since the thrid disk isn't held with the movie itself- it's really easy to loose. You'd think if they're going to double dip you they'd do a better job.
