Upcoming Horror Movies

Recommended Posts

RE2, SAW, and SHAUN on the big screen.

I'm still unsure of "THE GRUDGE" but I might go see it. No thank you to "The Ring 2".

But SAW is a big hell yes.

I saw SAW's trailer a few months ago and I thought it looked hysterically bad. Then again, I'm not a big horror aficionado to begin with.

Judging by my name, you can probably tell that I am a horror fan, so, i'm pretty much looking forward to:

SAW (Trailer made me thinl "Holy Shit, they made a Giallo flick in America!)

Haute Tension

Shaun of the Dead

Worst Case Scenario (German Nazi Zombies)

I'd like to go see the grudge, mainly because I'm a huge Sarah Michelle Gellar fan.

Just a follow-up. Finished watching SAW at the Toronto Filmfest not even 20 minutes ago. FUCKING AMAZING. I think we've finally got a serial killer movie that tops 'Se7en' on all levels.

I'd assume it was the "NC-17" cut since he saw it at a film festival. The R cut is just for US theatrical release.

I believe it's 17 and Under, so it's really no one under 18.

NC-17:"No One 17 And Under Admitted."

This rating declares that the Rating Board believes that this is a film that most parents will consider patently too adult for their youngsters under 17. No children will be admitted. NC-17 does not necessarily mean "obscene or pornographic" in the oft-accepted or legal meaning of those words. The Board does not and cannot mark films with those words. These are legal terms and for courts to decide. The reasons for the application of an NC-17 rating can be violence or sex or aberrational behavior or drug abuse or any other elements which, when present, most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children.

Kind of a weak-looking crop this year. Not as bad as some previous ones (Cabin Fever, Wrong Turn, and House of the Dead were all out around the same time, weren't they?), but still...

Resident Evil 2: I was one of those rare people who hated the first one, so I kinda doubt I'll like the sequel any more, especially since it looks like more of the same except without Michelle Rodriguez. (On a positive note, at least Paul "Most Overrated Director On Earth" Anderson wasn't at the helm this time.)

Saw: I've never heard this movie described the same way twice. This flick apparently contains enough plot to make up three or four lesser horror movies. On the plus side, most movies with Danny Glover or Cary Elwes aren't that bad.

The Grudge: has anyone ever seen a good Sarah Michelle Gellar movie? Ever? That poor girl must have the worst agent in history. (Wonder if he works for Rose McGowan, too.) When you gotta chose between Scream 2 or Funny Farm to pick your best role, that's not so good. Seems like it's trying to cash in on the success of The Ring and the popularity of Buffy, at least from how the previews looked. And speaking of which:

The Ring 2: well, at least Naomi Watts and the same little boy signed on again, plus a few what-the-fuck additions like Elizabeth Perkins and Sissy Spacek. However: awesomely talented director of the first Ring, Gore Verbinski, is out; fairly mediocre director of the original Ringu, Hideo Nakata, is in; Ehren Kruger, the aside-from-The-Ring hideously untalented screenwriter is still around. So call this one a toss-up, I have no idea if it'll be any good.
