Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted September 9, 2004 According to the Torch, a Jarrett/Hardy rematch is planned for Victory Road. According to the Observer, it's Brown/Jarrett According to me, the card better be stacked for me to order if either of those are the main event.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 It'll feature a meaningless X-Division match with terrific spot wrestlers forced to work a generic "high-flyer" style of armdrags, moonsaults, and crossbodies, some tag match featuring the champions and a challenging team that is either Daniels/Storm or a jobber team with no chance of winning, and Truth being buried by people he should be murdering with his eyes closed. So don't order unless TNA suddenly decides to GET THE FUCK RID OF DUTCH MANTEL.
Magus 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Fuck that, get rid of JEFF.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Jeff isn't so much the problem as Dutch is. Yes, Jeff decides who wins/loses, but the slow-as-all-hell pacing of the show is my big problem with it. Also, Jeff didn't seem to care too much for about a year and a half that the X-Division guys were flying all around and putting on spectacular, fast-paced, long spotfests. Now they're reduced to generic flying, the stuff Ricky Steamboat did that worked in 1989 (15 years ago, if you suck at math), only none of them are as good as Steamboat (with Styles and Daniels being the only two near as good). Magus 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 I agree that Mantell's a moron, but I believe the problems with creative are just as much Jarrett's fault as they are Mantell's. A lot of the stupid booking decisions belong to Dutch, but Jarrett deserves just as much blame. Like I've said, I'd take Russo back at this point. TNA probably has the worst creative direction since Nash ran WCW.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted September 10, 2004 See the problem with TNA is that THERE IS NO CREATIVE DIRECTION. They just do shit random as all hell and expect people to care. Was Jeff Hardy brought in for a slow build to eventually get a title shot? NO. He was thrust into a main event picture before he ever had a match in TNA. Jarrett has run around with that belt since Impact has started and hasn't had one memorable feud let alone match. Monte Brown continues to show charisma and personality, but let's face it......he sucks in the ring and him vs. Jarrett for that title would be brutal. The best things they have going for them are AJ Styles, who they constantly do "filler" stuff with because they don't currently want to use him in a main event position.......I guess. Christopher Daniels(as much as I like Triple X) has been forced into a tag team role in the company for ENTIRELY to long, and I don't even know where to begin with guys like Abyss, Alex Shelley, Raven, etc. It's doesn't surprise me that they want to push "their" guys(considering that Monte Brown and Jeff Hardy do not wresle anywhere but TNA) but sacrificing the quality of your product when your only on TNA's level(as a company)........is idiotic to say the least. Was Jeff Hardy brought in for a slow build to eventually get a title shot? NO. He was thrust into a main event picture before he ever had a match in TNA. And THAT is TNA's problem. It honestly seems that the quickest way to a title shot is to leave WWE and have TNA beg you to sign. It's horrible and insanely short-sighted --- after all, what the hell can they do with Hardy NOW? Christopher Daniels(as much as I like Triple X) has been forced into a tag team role in the company for ENTIRELY to long, and I don't even know where to begin with guys like Abyss, Alex Shelley, Raven, etc. Raven's slipped too much to be redeemed, IMO. His ring work is rather bad and I'm not sure he can be redeemed in regards to challenging JJ. If 6 guys running and beating the hell out of Jeff isn't enough to give Raven a win --- what can? Daniels and Shelley are probably dead in the water. TNA has never shown an inclination to give them a legit push and I doubt that changes. Abyss will job to JJ in December, probably. -=Mike
