Due to the Jamie Noble being released thread popping up, I decided to make this list of the people on the active WWE roster that were released this year. This is from memory, so feel free to add any that I have forgotten:

Strangest of all is Steve Austin and to a lesser extent, Brock Lesnar, listed among Ernest Miller, Sakoda, and Brian Christopher.

That's also why I didn't include Kevin "Mordecai" Fertig, because he was just demoted from his spot and not fired completely.

It's strange though, out of the 20 or so guys that have left this year, how many of them have either left on bad terms, or left by choice? I'd imagine it's a fair few, doesn't really do much for the image of the "WWE family" does it?

Goldust I believe was fired very early January but was informed of his release right before Christmas.

Every year the company used to do a Post Wrestlemania "Spring Cleaning", where they would drop several workers to keep a budget.. Now these releases keep coming at different times and out of nowhere.

Nash's contract was through December 31, so he was released as of January 1. Put him on the list.

 

Goldust was officially let go in January, put him on the list.

Fook, I'm pretty sure that Nathan Jones was gone by December last year, I seem to remember him leaving the company just after Survivor Series

Paul Bearer wasn't even fired.

 

He was just taken off TV. He's got a contract until October 2006. He's working backstage now.

 

And for Goldust: He was informed in November 2003 that his contract, that expired in January 2004, would not be renewed. However, in the middle of December 2003, they went on and terminated it.

Didn't Vince keep Lesnar under contract, only a freezing type deal? So he wouldn't go wrestle in Japan or anything.

Jones left after the tour in Australia last November (directly after the Smackdown with Cena/Benoit winning the battle royal).

 

Lesnar's contract has been frozen - they don't have to renogotiate if (and when) he comes back.

About Zac Gowen, did he compete at all during 2004? I'm not sure if he was in the rumble or if there were terrible jokes going around saying that he would have to be eliminated twice beacuse 'both feet have to touch the floor to be eliminated'
