Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 18, 2004 while you're currently watching the Red Sox and Yankees go to battle, history could be made as David Wells is one strike away from throwing a perfect game. The crowd at Petco are on the edge of their seats. Of course, we are obligated by jaded fans to keep coverage here at Yankee Stadium. Considering that people watching the game probably (just a hunch) wanted to see the Yankees and/or the Red Sox play, uhm, yeah. You are officially the most myopic person who posts at this board, congratulations. Am I? I'd say it's a fairly safe bet that anyone watching a Yankee/Red Sox game in September wants to see THAT GAME. If they so desperately wanted to see the perfect game, they can go find the damn thing on another channel. That's what I did for Johnson. I found the Superstation or some such business and watched the game. If you can't find it, oh well. You'll see it on Sportscenter that night.
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Yankees about to bust the game open in the 1st Lowe walks Williams with the bases loaded, 1-0 Yankees, bases remain loaded
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Lowe getting lit up, 3-0 Yankees, still have 1st and third Edit: 5-0 Yankees after Lowe makes a dumb mistake trying to get Bernie Williams going off 3rd after a comebacker by Olerud.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I hate Derek Lowe.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Since college football has filled up about 14 of the sports channels, looks like I'll need to find something else to watch today. I figured the Yanks/Sox game would be on, but no go here. Yanks are already laying it on, as they lead 5-0 already in the first. Sox will surely make it interesting before it's said and done, though. the max 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Hooray. 7-0 in the bottom of the second.
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Honestly, with it being in Yankee Stadium, and how both teams don't have off days together, I think they'll wait the whole day to get this game in.
tpww7 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 We can come back... Um.. I hope.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I'd say the bottom has fallen out for the Sox in this one. Looks like everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong. Errors, wild pitches, lots of runs given up, no offense and walks in full force for the Sox today.
tpww7 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 We got an out!
tpww7 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 And.. Now the umpire helps the Yanks out as if they need it right now.
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Does anyone else think Terry Adams looks like the Big Show?
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Does anyone else think Terry Adams looks like the Big Show? You know, I'm "watching" the game via MLB's Gameday and looking at his profile pic, I thought the exact same thing and was even considering posting about it here. mike546 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Is Arroyo the Sox third starter in the playoffs? With how had Wakes been, and Lowe's injury, is there anybody else?
Slayer 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Well, at least there's good college football on today *turns to see Michigan struggling against SDSU* ...I can't get a break today
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Its gonna come down to Moose and Pedro tomorrow. Why does it seem like they face each other in EVERY rubber game the Sox and Yankees have?
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Is Arroyo the Sox third starter in the playoffs? With how had Wakes been, and Lowe's injury, is there anybody else? I guess it would have to be Martinez-Schilling-Arroyo-Wakefield then. Then you have New York's Hernandez-Mussina-Lieber-Vasquez and if pitching is what gets you through the playoffs...God I hope we don't have A's and Twins in the ALCS. mike546 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I actually think that if the Yankees split Schilling/Pedro in the first two games, they have a chance.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Looks like this one's over. Francona just took out half the starting lineup.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I didn't even realize until just now that the Red Sox aren't just being shut out, they're being no-hit. Can't understand why he'd pull half the starters when the top of the lineup was due in the 7th.
