More Flip Flopping from Kerry

Recommended Posts

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...9-2004Aug9.html

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz., Aug. 9 -- Responding to President Bush's challenge to clarify his position, Sen. John F. Kerry said Monday that he still would have voted to authorize the war in Iraq even if he had known then that U.S. and allied forces would not find weapons of mass destruction.

NEW YORK - Staking out new ground on Iraq (news - web sites), Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) said Monday he would not have overthrown Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) had he been in the White House, and he accused President Bush (news - web sites) of "stubborn incompetence," dishonesty and colossal failures of judgment. Bush said Kerry was flip-flopping.

I'm glad you read the whole speech from New York and obviously got the whole point of his nuanced thoughts on the world and Iraq.

If "flip-flopping" is really your #1 determinant of presidential potential, please don't vote. For anyone.

Well, if Kerry feels his #1 issue is Iraq --- which, apparently, it is --- and he can't even produce a single, coherent message --- it is an issue.

Remember when the President said we'd win the war on terror...the that we couldn't...then we would....yeah, that was cool.

And remember when the President said he would capture Osama Bin Laden...then said he didn't even care...yeah, that was neat.

Alright, I'll call you on this one - please provide the EXACT quote from Bush where says he "didn't even care" if we caught Osama. I want to see it, word for word, verbatim, and provided in the proper context.

Because I'm guessing slightly here - just SLIGHTLY - that you're exaggerating a bit in the choice of words you're asserting he said.

Q    Mr. President, in your speeches now you rarely talk or mention Osama bin Laden.  Why is that?  Also, can you tell the American people if you have any more information, if you know if he is dead or alive?  Final part  --  deep in your heart, don't you truly believe that until you find out if he is dead or alive, you won't really eliminate the threat of  --

THE PRESIDENT:  Deep in my heart I know the man is on the run, if he's alive at all.  Who knows if he's hiding in some cave or not; we haven't heard from him in a long time.  And the idea of focusing on one person is --  really indicates to me people don't understand the scope of the mission.

Terror is bigger than one person.  And he's just  --  he's a person who's now been marginalized.  His network, his host government has been destroyed.  He's the ultimate parasite who found weakness, exploited it, and met his match.  He is  --  as I mentioned in my speech, I do mention the fact that this is a fellow who is willing to commit youngsters to their death and he, himself, tries to hide  --  if, in fact, he's hiding at all.

So I don't know where he is.  You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you.  I'm more worried about making sure that our soldiers are well-supplied; that the strategy is clear; that the coalition is strong; that when we find enemy bunched up like we did in Shahikot Mountains, that the military has all the support it needs to go in and do the job, which they did.

Looks like Bush 'flip-flopped' on the whole "well-supllied, strategy clear, coalition strong" part as well...

And TEDDY is so much different than Jack?

Your not mixing nostalgia and conservative-rhetoric are you?...Bad Cocktail.

As Denis Leary put it "They killed JFK, they killed RFK, but when it came to Teddy, they said "Never mind, he'll fuck it up himself.""

Teddy has a bad habit of shooting himself in the foot, which killed his chances of becoming president.

Teddy, unlike his brothers John and Robert, seems a lot like a rich, incompetent asshole who's in power solely because of who he's related to. Sounds a lot like Kerry, except you replace "related to" with "married to."

Riiight, so he gets lambasted by Republicans for being the most liberal senator ever...which obviously implies heavy Great Society-esque domestic issues like medical care, etc...

Yet, hes also a rich asshole whose only in power because of who hes related to?

He really covers all the bases doesnt he? ;)

"I don't spend much time on him" is JUST like "I don't care"

-=Mike

You may remember the old Persian saying, 'There is danger for him who taketh the tiger cub, and danger also for whoso snatches a delusion from a liberal.'

---the great Sherlock Holmes.....

.....edited by me, of course, to reflect our current age in general and Tyler's post in particular.

Hold on, you're saying Kerry only got into government work because of his wife?

Don't you possibly think voters decided that his experience as an attorney meant more than who he was married to? Or did you just drink so much of Rush's Kool-Aid that you can't see straight anymore?

On the plus side, at least all the pain will go away...

well considering the quotes in the beginning of this thread aren't even an example of a flip flop, and no one willing to dissect the comments further could argue, as it has clearly been explained over and over again, but if all it takes Sean Hannity to repeat, "I voted for the 87, before I voted against" a hundred times to convince you, then I guess it isn't worth explaining for the 34636th time.

I think the real Flip Floppers when it comes to Iraq are Condi Rice and Colin Powell, who all but buckled under intense pressure by he Bush adminstration.

I just saw a snippet of a Bush speech, where he said, "my opponent said our national security would safer if we had not invaded Iraq" like it isn't the most obvious thing ever or something.

As bad as Kerry's campaign has been so far, I just heard some of today's soundbites, and it looks like he is FINALLY focusing on and speaking out about how the war on Iraq and the war on terrorism aren't the same war, and that the war on Iraq basically crippled our efforts against Afganistan/Taliban. Maybe he should mention that Bush told Putin he should negotiate with the Chechynen rebels, even though his own position I thought was "we don't negotiate with terrorists" Say it with me everybody......"FLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP FLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP"
