NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Here is the trailer to the original japanese Ju-On(The Grudge) not the remake with Sarah Michelle Gellar.......Man this looks freaky as hell..... Ju-On(The Grudge)
dubq 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 ...and it is! Better than Ringu, IMO. Though, Ju-on 2 is really good as well. I was able to get bootlegged copies of both, in Toronto's Chinatown, for about $5 each a few months ago. I heard that the original Ju-on was being released into North American theatres, soon. Is this still happening? I'd love to see it on the big screen.
Coffin Surfer 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2004 Actually that's not even the original Japanese Ju-On. It's a bigger budget theatircal but sadly inferior remake to a direct to video movie that is also named Ju-On, which also happens to feature Chiaki Kuriyama of Kill Bill and Battle Royale fame. The original one is probably the creepiest new wave Japanese Horror film I've seen, while the theatircal one is pretty goofy. Interesting to note that all films(including the U.S.) were directed by Shimizu Takashi. There is also a sequel to the direct to video and theatircal film in Japan, all done by him as well. I meant the original theatrical release, not the television movies. so, how exactly would you get your hands on the ORIGINAL TV MOVIE? I am highly interested. Ebay. They both petty much have the same cover - a face with a hand over it - but one is blue and one is red. This auction ends in 1 day, but there are tons of copies floating around - legit & bootleg. Be forewarned, though, the second tv movie only contains about 45 minutes of new footage and is generally considered to be a piece of crap.. the rest of the movie is spent "flashing back" to what happened in the first tv movie. I was giving him info on both in general. ...and, Mike, check this online site out, HKFLIX.com, if you're interested in buying the theatrical versions in another region. Coffin Surfer 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2004 Uh, I didn't say which was which there buddy. I was giving him info on both in general. Oh sorry. The way it was worded it looked like you were saying the color difference was a way of telling the video and theatrical.

Ju-On: The Grudge Ju-On: The Grudge 2 Ok on that site, it has....Juon 1+2 "the curse" and Juon 1+2 "grudge" So I believe the TELEVISION version(starring the chick from battely royale) and the BETTER versions according to you guys is the Ju-on CURSES, NOT grudges, right? I know I am being a biatch, but I just want to get it right before I order Ju-on. So if the following is correct, let me know: Ju-on 1: the curse(not grudge)(starring the battle royale/kill bill chick) is the best one, which is the original tv movie, and I shouldn't bother with part 2 cause it only has 45 mins of new footage? HKFLIX doesn't appear to have the tv versions. And if you buy from there make sure to check the region. Yeah, Ju-On (red cover) t.v version w/Battle Royale chick is the best one by far. Part 2 t.v. version does suck(blue cover). Ju-On the Theatircal are the pictures in vivi's post. I didn't like the first one that much but the second was o.k. SinToxic 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 Some recommendations for those of you who liked Ju-on: A tale of two sisters - korean gothic stytle psychological horror flick. One Missed Call/You've Got a Call - Takashie Miike's dark comedic spoof of Ringu.

I couldn't stay at that link for more than 30 seconds - the background graphic is, by far, way too disturbing.
HellSpawn 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2004 I saw this week Ju-On 1 & 2 via Cinemax. Both are very good. But, to be honest I agree with Michael Gingold from Fangoria.com, go that and check his Ju-On/Gozu review. Both parts have really scary scenes,: - KAYAKO and Toshio looking at Rika in a Gargoyle style. Just F'n Creepy... and Beautful. (Sadly, it looks like this scene is not included in the USA version.) - KAYAKO crawling dow the stairs ...AWESOME. - KAYAKO's sound is simply Amazing. Oh and you have to check also One Missed Call... is Incredible Scary.
