Mik 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 It's only three games in and Kurt Warner has already proven that he is not completely washed up. He's doing better than just about everyone gave him credit for, and I honestly think the Giants can win 7-9 games this year...which is more than a lot of people gave them credit for. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 27, 2004 I agree. Major props to Tom Coughlin's job with the Giants. I suppose they really did need that discipline. Note the difference in how much better they've been doing with turnovers. As with Green Bay today, I really think there was a big positive in the comeback at halftime being down 31-17 and being able to battle back to 31-38, and if it wasn't for the Walker fumble (who had been having a tremendous day), the outcome might have been different. I know there's a lot of talk about how Favre can't play in domes and all, but I thought he played pretty well tonight, NO INTERCEPTIONS in a dome, which is a big one. Almost threw a couple though, but still did a fabulous job. What I'm happiest about is that this was an interconference game and therefore nothing much more than a notch in the loss column, because it wasn't a division or conference game. That Bears game last week REALLY hurt, and Green Bay has got to find a way to limit turnovers and to deviate from their gameplan when they have to. I really think that's been the cause of the losses so far, is sticking to the gameplan and trying to grind it out like in Chicago, or playing a base defense against Indy in the first half against a fucking spread offense when Manning is on fire at home. This was demonstrated very well when they replayed the Colts going to a Cover 2 on Favre overthrowing Driver on one drive (which led to the 1st FG) and Green Bay going MAN TO MAN on a receiving corps they are obviously in no position to cover. Harris did an alright job, and the run defense was MUCH improved from last week, continuously stuffing James and Rhodes in short yardage situations. I thought the defense stepped it up bigtime in the second half, but that fumble killed them. I don't care what the point spreads say for this week, the Giants are an NFC team, and playing at Lambeau Field, as long as they put the ball in Brett's hands and have a balanced attack and smart playcalling on defense, they are going to blow New York out. At least fuck I hope they do. I'm not used to these losing streak things.

Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 27, 2004 This illegal hands rule has proven to be utter bullshit so far. Good to see it's only going to be used by the refs to screw teams over all season. EDIT: Again don't get so excited about Warner's performance, Cleveland was missing half their line and both of the starting cornerbacks were banged up badly. Looks like Gannon might be hurt after taking a helmet to helmet hit.

Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 27, 2004 Ugh...... 4 no calls all in favor of the Buccs so far tonight. I hope it doesn't turn into another week 1. EDIT: It gets even better as they've already taken back several thrown flags. Is the new thing sending the worst ref crews to the Sunday night game?

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 With the first two Home games being post-poned or moved up...Maybe the Schedule makers will contemplate having the dolphins on the road during Hurricane season. This is really the only season where it's been an issue, so I don't see a need to have the Dolphins play on the road for the entire 1st month of the season. This is really the only season where it's been an issue, so I don't see a need to have the Dolphins play on the road for the entire 1st month of the season. The only problem is that they would probably have to play the majority of their first 12 games away since Hurricane Season lasts until November 30th.

Guest GreatOne Report post Posted September 27, 2004 Great day for football, again. Hawks shut out the Niners, who were shut out last when: *The NFL still played 14 games (16 wasn't until the next year, '78) *Steve Largent was a promising second-year wideout *Joe Montana was a sophomore(?) at Notre Dame I think the Hawks have done OK with 'backup options' Okeafor and Wistrom the last couple years. And Jason F'N David strips Javon Walker of the ball on the Packers' would-be tying drive.
