MrRant 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 In a Q&A with Playbill magazine, Mel Brooks says that he's currently working on a Spaceballs sequel. Here's the clip from the interview which starts off by talking about the big screen adaptation of The Producers. Playbill: Will you have a role in it? MB: It's doubtful, but I'm writing myself back into the Spaceballs sequel that I'm now writing, so you haven't seen the last of my face. Why another Spaceballs? It wouldn't feel right have anyone else play Yoghurt and the first one was the best experience I've had making a movie since Blazing Saddles. Playbill: When can we expect that? MB: Best case scenario: a week before the new Star Wars opens. Worst Case Scenario: a year after the new star wars opens http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=6547

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 If he can't find the band that sang the Spaceballs theme for a remix, this is all moot. Time to turn on my SPACEBALLS THE MP3 FILE and get down.
Guest MD2020 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 The Search for More Money indeed It has to be named Spaceballs Three: The Search for Spaceballs Two: The Search for More Money. It just has to be.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 The Search for More Money indeed That should be the name of the sequel. Casting will be a problem because who can replace John Candy as Mog? Maybe they can call it SPACEBALLS IV: THE SEARCH FOR MOG and have John Goodman as the brother of Mog.
Guest Fook Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Well they could always do a prequel, Spaceballs Zero. I hear they're all the rage nowadays.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Well they could always do a prequel, Spaceballs Zero. I hear they're all the rage nowadays. Doing a prequel would be a much better way to bust Lucas' balls. /casts vote for a prequel
Guest ken adams Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Brooks could use John Goodman as Mog without any problem. He could just say that he originally wanted Goodman, but the technology at the time wouldn't allow it. Now this could be the Spaceballs he always envisioned and wanted. Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I don't know...Spaceballs is a good movie on it's own. Why now, 17 years later, would he want to do a sequel? It won't be the same with a different cast.

BlackFlagg 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I remember rumors of a Spaceballs prequel back when Episode I was coming out, obviously nothing came of it. Was wondering if we'd ever hear anything else about a new Spaceballs movie.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I miss Rick Moranis.. ..though knowing how the trends in Hollywood are, they'll probably have gotten rid of Moranis for someone like Jason Biggs or Jason Schwartzman. Hey Schwartzman wouldn't be too bad.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2004 First of all, Mog was not the name of John Candy's character, that was his species. His name was Barf. Fools. Second, I like Rick Moranis and want to see him again. A cameo if nothing else.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2004 If Moranis isn't Darth Helmet, there is no way in hell I'll be investing any kind of time or money into it, and i'll just have to watch my Spaceballs DVD and weep at what could have been.

Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 29, 2004 Wait, is it Darth Helmet or Dark Helmet? I haven't watched in quite some time, and assume it's the latter.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Hey I liked the first one. when I first saw it as a kid, I had little idea it was a spoof just thought it was very funny (never got into star wars at all so excuse my 4 year old innocence) But a sequal? hmmmm it would be hard to pull off I think. Can't do it without Candy I think
