Steve Harvey Revokes Eminem's 'Ghetto Pass,

Recommended Posts

Guest Fire and Knives

-There are a dozen emcees I can name offhand that smoke Eminem.

-Michael Jackson owned pop music for close to a decade.

-Steve Harvey has a show on the WB and can't revoke anybody's ghetto pass.

I thought these things were kind of self-evident, people.

I dunno, Em has owned the charts pretty much since his "arrival" and MJ hasn't had a serious hit since what, "Scream" or whatever the song with Janet was called?

Not calling anyone names, and I don't know enough to call you a drunk or question your intelligence. But your argument lost it's momentum with me once you said that because Eminem is bigger right this minute, he's superior or more memorable than Wacko Jacko?

By that logic, bands like Good Charlotte or Linkin Park are >> bands like Guns n Roses or Pearl Jam. They both are owning the charts now much more than GnR or PJ are.

/nl5 would like to stress that he hates every artist referenced in this post

Yeah my fault, it was a stupid point to make. But on the other side of the coin, recognizing MJ as being a great artist because of record sales would be like saying N Sync, Poison or Billy Ray Cyrus were great artists.

Not a rap guy? I am listening to fuckin "Bop Gun" by Ice Cube right now............

I'm pretty sure you even said you weren't really a rap guy. You said Jay is more pop than Em, which makes you cred kaput. Wow, Bop Gun....did you get into Cube on the Family Values tour, fucknut?

A lot of people didn't figure 2Pac would be remembered either. Or Guns N Roses. Shit, even crap like Def Leppard or Ricky Martin are or will be remembered. Memories are selective, what's your point?

A lot remember that Chumbawumba song, but that doesn't really qualify them as really "remembered." Everyone knows and in most cases love Michael, the world over. Def Leppard are lame but will always have just their core fans and most people who just remember the one-arm and "Pour Some Sugar On Me". Ricky Martin remembered? Yeah as a joke and maybe when you catch an SNL repeat, you fuckass.

Thriller was a song about zombies. Very fucking creative. Let me say it again. Fucking zombies. Zombies. Where's the song about goblins? What about vampires?

I guess a zombie song would be original and creative, considering NO ONE DOES THEM. But even then, correct me if I'm wrong but "Thriller" just vaguely references terrors and other frightful things, but doesn't really mention too much in specific. And the point is EVERYONE knows and will always know about "Thriller" and it could of been written before you were born. And on creativity in terms of subject matter, where's the creatively in a thousand songs about killing mommy because you're a little wiener bitch?

Blah blah, "MJ is known all over the world where Eminem is not". Yeah, and for years in the 80s, Hulk Hogan was the most recognized American in the world. Your point?

I don't think that's a fact at all. And besides, MJ STILL IS RECOGNIZED THE WORLD OVER.

I'm not into Eminem because of the toughact either.

Sure JAxl, Mr. Watch-me-beat-up-this-marine. I call bullshit on your whole poser cockfuck image.

And I do enjoy rap..........good rap. 2Pac, Em, old Death Row, Wu, and Biggie. I do not, however, appreciate shit music because MTV played the fuckin videos, or FOX, or whoever else supported that sick fuck.

That's why you bought the Em hype about how he's hardcore and the shit as a lyricist. And When does FOX play videos? "Black Or White" simulcast, is that what you're blabbing of?

I hate dance, I hate club shit, and even at his best, all MJ's songs were like that.

I hate you, I hate your post shit.

And the plastic surgery obsessed, child molesting fuck probably didn't even write them himself!

Sounds like your agenda against MJ is personal. That does nothing to deplete his achievements made in the field of popular msuic.

Look, if you're gonna defend child stars like MJ (which was the last time he may have bee good) go set up a trust fund for Gary Coleman or Tiny Yothers.

You're a disgrace. And Coleman and Yother didn't revolutioize the acting game like Mike revolutionized the pop game.

Yeah my fault, it was a stupid point to make. But on the other side of the coin, recognizing MJ as being a great artist because of record sales would be like saying N Sync, Poison or Billy Ray Cyrus were great artists.

What a disgrace again. Billy Ray had one hit, Poison are dust in the wind, NSync were right place, right time now rerouted on the night train to nowheresville.

1. Not a rap guy, but a guy who knows good rap.

2. My point will be totally substantiated when he loses the trial. Go ahead and remember a dirty child molester if you want to.

3. Cool, it would be original. It still doesn't make the subject matter any fucking dumber. Again........fucking zombies. The song about Em's Mom or his girl, they were both heartfelt, and based in reality, and lyrics he wrote on his own.

4. Recognized? Even now MJ being recognized is disgusting being that he fucks (or tries to) little boys. What little talent and big hits he did have..........washed away when he is found guilty.

5. Ok, never said I was going to beat up a marine, that was someone else.

6. In the early 90s, FOX played every new MJ single, "Black Or White" included. A video where he grabs his crotch over and over and smashes car windows. Listen, I like that song, but please. Em does a fake hardass act? "Look at me, I smash car windows!"---MJ

7. I told you the agenda was personal. I don't like him, I don't respect him, blah blah blah. We've been through this already.

I listen to what I know is good. Bottom line. I neglected to mention Mos Def, Kwali, Atmosphere, or Common earlier. My fault. My hip hop/rap knowledge goes alot further then any of you may suspect. But of course, since I disagree with your opinions, you'd rather think of me as a stereotype. Congrats.

Oh man, this is a well known universal admission that there's nothing left in the tank.

You say all this shit, but then you don't actually back yourself up when called on it beyond saying the equivalent of a Maury Povich slut guest's "Fuck you, y'all don't know me"

Let me throw some gas on this fire...

1: Eminem is one of the top selling rap artist of all time. Not many have more sells than him. Off the top of my head I can only think of Jay-Z and Tupac. Not saying Eminem is the best rapper of all time. But he is fucking great, no question. Doubting his talent is not knowing what the fuck you are talking about. Eminem got a career for being white and being on Aftermath. Eminem kept a career for having good fucking talent. Over 30 million sold world wide and growing. He has made as money in the short time of his career as it took Jay-Z with like double the CDs and tours.

HOWEVEr, he does rap music and gasp, NOT everyone likes rap. So people's opinions on the genre itself will make them blinding like or hate him on this alone.

2: On the whole MJ thing. Michael Jackson is the top selling artist of all time. His album thriller sold a little over 58 million copies world wide. Bad sold over 40 million copies world wide. Off the wall sold over 19 million copies world wide. Dangerous sold a little over 12 million world wide. Thats 129 million copies sold world wide, NOBODY is touching that record for a while, if ever. Michael Jackson is the king of pop because of that. He is the man. Hell his worst selling album, "Blood on the dancefloor" sold only a million plus in the US and multi worldwide. Everything he touches goes Pt.

HOWEVER, he does pop music and gasp, NOT everyone likes pop. Ditto what I said before, and his personal legal troubles are not helping matters. Michael isn't guilty of anything except getting a bad nose job. Nobody can label him anything else. He hasn't helped his case but still, he hasn't broken any laws yet, until a verdic is reached.

3: Saying which one of the two is better is fucking stupid. They are two different things. It is like comparing apples and rocks. The only two comparing traits are that they both make music, and they both sell alot. That is it. End of discussion.

4: Knowing rap around here, I do know that alot of rap fans hate Eminem because, well lets call a spade a spade, he is white making "White people's rap". His core fans are white teens to early 20s who listen to him in frat houses next to Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. It is a fact, but most selling rappers are listen to by white teens to early 20s who listen to him in frat houses next to Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. People like Common have talent, but doesn't make him liked by everyone, I think he is a great rapper, but not my style. I don't listen to him often enough to know all his albums and stuff. If he is on, I don't turn him off, but I don't give a shit enough to invest, time money or effort to listen to him. He is in my sig for being in a remix of Jadakiss song. I listen to Jadakiss, and put his verse in. I more stumbled across this one.

5: People can have different opinions. Not everyone thinks windows is the worst thing to hit a computer. People in the early 80s saw rap as a fad that would die out like disco. Some saw it as the future of music. Opinions on what is good is different. Some people think artist like Hendrix, Elvis, Miles Davis, and Nirvanna suck. And who is to say they can't be wrong on that? Who is to say they can't be right. It is fucking subjective. Because he said something you don't fully agree with doesn't make him "A god damn fucking dumb shit that needs to have someone shit in his mouth". The problem with this folder is that anyone who likes anything off the "good" list in here is the worst person ever with the worst taste in music ever.

6: BTW, if someone has noticed that no matter what they say and they are getting blasted for it, it doesn't mean they have nothing left in the tank. When everyone jumps in ONLY saying "You have no taste" What is left to say when hardly anyone is saying anything back. You can't have a one person debate(unless you are Kerry).

Banders, not that I'm a mod or anything, but take the pointless name-calling & flaming to the Hardcore Discussion folder ... calling someone a fucknut, fuckass, and a little wiener bitch is a bit out of place in the music folder. Plus, it makes you sound pretty immature.

And, it's pretty likely that if (or when) MJ is found guilty, his reputation will be pretty tarnished and a lot of what he's accomplished will get overlooked.

/thinks both MJ and Eminem are overrated

EDIT: had a 'like' in my post that was unneeded, and made me sound like a Valley Girl. It's been removed.

Christ, Banks, ease up. You're trying to alienate him by asking him random questions when all he said was that he was a fan. Let him be a fan.

Having said that, Jaxl must be drunk again. I hate MJ with a passion and even I can recognize his influence and ability. Did you actually say that Jay-Z is more pop then Eminem? Have another JD, champ. And don't hate on MJ because he's a better washed up plastic surgery poster child then Axl is.

I thought the Beatles had the record for most albums sold, with Garth Brooks desparately schomping at their heels with all his fucking double albums and alternate personality. Is that just in the U.S?

And can everyone chill the fuck out?

MJ only has a few songs I like, but he had a great voice. His stuff may have been produced/written by others, but his voice has stood the test of time. Twisted fucker, sure.

I hate Eminem, but he's a decent rapper, who is about the lyrical equivalent of Trent Reznor. He's pretty much just not my cup of tea. I like 'clever' rap like Del, Devon the Dud, Beasties and Aceyalone.

Their music cannot be compared, it is COMPLETELY different. And all these little personal jabs are retarded.

I think the Beatles "One" and Eagles "Greatest Hits" are ahead of "Thriller", With "One"running away, but the Eagles and MJ were duking it out for that top spot for a long time. Not so sure about Brooks.

Eminem's career is closer to ending because his music is really really really bad.  Michael can tocuh little boys and always rely on the fact he made off the Wall and Thriller.  What can Eminem say? "I dissed Christina Aguilera and Fred Durst, yo!"

I guess I'll be the one to say it. MJ wishes he had Em's songwriting abilties.

Also, Em never made an awful fuckin song with Eddie Murphy, or a song about dunking a fucking basketball.

You deserve to be slapped for being so fucking ignorant. Off the Wall and Thriller are landmark albums that revitialized pop music. What has Em done?

"will the real slim shady please stand up?"

His songs pander to 13 years who think they are drinking thugn juice when they are actually laugh at poop and fart jokes for 60 minutes. Oh, and lets not forget the genius of writing a song about killing his wife.

Think of that, listen to Off the Wall and get back to me.

You obviously haven't heard his songs. I'm talking about his real songs. Not Slim Shady, not My Band, not Without me.

Listen to "Eminem Show" and the "Marshall Mathers LP" before making any further comment.

And Eminem losing 50? Boo fucking hoo. 50 can't hold Em's jockstrap.

I meant for total albums sold by an artist, not individual album.

I'll make a statement:

Prince is way more talented than either MJ or Eminem.

Seriously. People should, you know, buy or download Eminem songs before judging his music. He only records songs like "Without Me" to sell the albums. Although what's in the album itself sans-without me, or real slim shady, is brilliant.

How so?

Claiming Eminem to be the best in the rap game is like saying Good Charlotte is the best punk band around. In the immortal words of George W. Bush "he just isn't credible".

And my question about Common wasn't out of line. I could say I'm down with Slayer or whoever else to make an argument I'm a huge metal fan, but I should at least be able to name the albums, say why I like them, or even something that is common knowledge about them. If you can't answer any of those questions, you're just name dropping bullshit for the sake of saving your drowning argument.

Prince can sing, play his own instrument (quite well) and is just as self indulgent as Jackson and Eminem.

It's still all just apples and oranges. I've heard two or three Eminem albums in full, and they struck me as, as I said, about as deep as Trent Reznor.

That doesn't mean he's bad, he's a skillful rhymer and all. He has good production. Just not my thing. Like I said, I like guys like Del, who's at least as good at wordplay as Eminem, and not so angry/whiny/'hard' whatever you want to call it.

I have a question:

What is it, exactly, that Eminem has done that's so amazing?

"Be white" is not an acceptable answer.

The only artists as good or better than Eminem (again in the rap game) are Nas, Talib Kweli, Mobb Deep, and well, Tupac, if he really still is alive.

And Aesop Rock, and El-P, and Mr. Lif, and Common, and KRS-One, and Eric Sermon, and Outkast, and Aceyalone, and Kool Keith, and Madvillian, and Little Brother, and Sage Francis, and Redman...

Shit, Cee-lo Green is the Soul Machine is better than The Eminem Show.

Fuck it, Esoteric's new album will probably kill Eminem's, now that I think about it.

P.S. Tupac is dead.
