Guest Korgath Report post Posted October 15, 2004 It looks like Ultimo Dragon will be returning to WWE under the name of Asai. He will be working as a heel without a mask. WWE is also considering putting him into a faction with Kenzo Suzuki. Credit: PWInsider So they dropped Sakoda, sent Tajiri to RAW and Jimmy Yang to OVW just so that an UNMASKED Ultimo Dragon can replace them? The WWE can't seem to make up their minds about throwaway stables and storylines. It pains me to think that all four would be still around on Smackdown! if they just went ahead with Ultimo joining Kyo Dai. Instead, we have Mr. Suzuki's antics in the ring. SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2004 I read somewhere else that Asai is going to come back as a heel based on being pissed off over how he was treated during his initial WWE run. I don't know if Vince and company have the brains to do such a thing, but we'll wait and see.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2004 If it happens, Ultimo is a filthy little whore and nobody better bitch "WWE misused him" because it will be all his stupid ass' fault.

Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 15, 2004 But, will he still have his cape to trip over?
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 15, 2004 This makes no sense to me. Why would you take the most marketable thing about the guy away? This company needs to get a fucking clue. First they get pissed off at him for not being what they expected when all they had to do was look at the WCW tape library. And then even though the guy is over and people know who the guy is they barely put him on tv.

Ced 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2004 Double confirmation via Meltzer It was the final match in Japan of "Ultimo Dragon." He returns in a month or two to WWE, but without his mask. Welcome back, now do something more memorable than tripping at the company's biggest show.

Guest loser Report post Posted October 15, 2004 when he comes back witout the mask people will wonder who this small japanes bloke is and maybe someone remembers his finishing move... it would rock if he got tajiri back from raw and yang from ohw and formed a stable.... But this is the wwe remember...

He only had 2 or 3 TV appearences, because Vince hired him without ever actually seeing him wrestle, or watching stock footage that he owns, to find out what he would be like in the ring. The only thing that's really to blame here is Vince, and that damnable "WWE style" that everyone is forced to work now.
Guest JMA Report post Posted October 15, 2004 I was always kind of annoyed that Ultimo wasn't allowed to use the Dragon Sleeper as his finisher. It fit him much more than MMA/Biker Taker.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2004 I agree about the Dragon Sleeper, but that backflip-DDT thing is/was pretty friggin' cool.

SinToxic 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2004 On the DragonGate site Ultimo said that from now on (after finally wrestling Tiger Mask I) the Dragon character will be "sealed" but that one day it might come to life. I say Jan 2005.

Guest Quik Report post Posted October 15, 2004 I remember when I played HCTP with my mark friends, the match would always be HHH, Goldberg, Benoit (or something similiar) as our characters, and then Ultimo as the lone CPU guy. It was so much fun stealing his finisher.

But this is the wwe remember... Glenn, you suck at life. OK then, all PBP bashing aside... Akio isn't in OVW, just Velocity and dark match hell. Yang is as good as any junior/cruiser around, and he sits and rots in matches with Stamboli. I dunno how I feel about Yakuza v.2. I'm not a big Suzuki advocate, but I do admit I don't mind how they use him now, with the shades of comedy. They're making a big mistake taking the whole mask/superhero image of Ultimo Dragon away, because he'll be much more marketable with it, for the obvious reasons. Funny how they resign Rey and put the mask back on him, ignoring the maskless WCW era, simply because they knew they could market it, yet Ultimo has a similar identity and they scrap it in favor of another generic foreign heel? Toxxic 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2004 He's pretty damn ugly without the mask, i know that much. And he was always on Velocity so he DID have TV appearances - just not on the big show. And that Asai DDT is so damn contrived it's fucking ridiculous.

I was there, MSG died in the CW Open following Ultimo's elimination. No, it wasn't that hot beforehand --- but they COMPLETELY died after he was pinned. -=Mike
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted October 16, 2004 Honestly, wouldn't you guys rather have him come back without the mask to totally get jobbed out than with it? Hell, at least Ultimo Dragon means something, nobody will give a flying shit about Asai...........
